  1. Ok, so how many consecutive losses will it take to get Dusty fired? 10 more? Nope cuz he can just attribute everything to injuries and Hendry will believe that. too. Hendry is more responsible for the failure of this team then Dusty is anyway. Look at this roster. Its terrible.

  3. Detroit is looking dominant, again. (against a pretty good offensive team, to boot) 'Nother finals appearance? They have the easiest road to it of any team left. However, if the Spurs and Pistons are playing in the finals again this year, I may very well go blind. Agreed, that was an incredibly boring finals. Basketball in general seems boring to me when I really don't care about the teams competing. Football on the other hand, well you can sit me down in front of nearly any game and I'll have a hell of a time.
  4. Agreed. For example, everything Farnsworth says in this one is better than anything in today's chat. Farnsworth is amazing, but Jim Thome has his moments too. I particularly enjoy some of the ones chronicling Wood+Prior's injury adventures, one of them ended with Wood cutting off his own arm by accident. Oh man those guys crack me up.
  5. These teams are terrible, but its hard to admit... but our beloved Cubs are worse, ATM.
  6. Someone who is going to hit 45+ homers this year.
  7. I'm basically just watching my fantasy players, and I have a faint interest in the A's. (Moneyball...oh god I wish someone would buy Hendry or Baker that book)

  9. My reaction to the thread title was "sucking on what?" ...nice to see the homophobia continues to be alive and well on NSBB.com. You guys can't even take a joke.
  10. I just want to know one thing: Why is Juan Encarnacion batting cleanup? This boggles my mind.
  11. I highly doubt a rotation of Zambrano, Maddux, Marshall, Hill, Guzman is gonna carry this "hitless wonder" team to .500, much less the playoffs.
  12. Why would Dusty want to justify putting together an inferior lineup? That doesn't even make any sense...why would he avoid playing a stronger lineup? Its not because he has favorites is it?
  13. You've got to count the pitcher, since a Cub pitcher (Maddux) drove in the only run in the past four games. DON'T REMIND ME! Oh lord, what a funk this team is in. And it isn't even against elite competition, so its twice as painful, this is against teams that we SHOULD BE BEATING.
  14. Do you think LeBron just started wearing 23 in the NBA? Why do people have favorite numbers? Because growing up they imitate their favorite players. And the part about retiring number 23 is pretty ridiculous. Well then I just hate you.
  15. fixed.
  16. I can't stand the comparison either. Especially when its about age and point averages. Yah, lets punish Jordan for going to college, and for not having a 3 point line growing up. Lebron's team will be swept by Detroit (maybe they can win 1 at home) and then we can stop hearing about him. I also love how his team's struggles last year and the year before were not his fault, it was because he didn't have the surrounding cast. Now when he has the surrounding cast, you never hear about them. Jordan never shot many threes throughout his entire career. LeBron has taken over half as many in his career already(they have similar career percentages). And is he not playing unbelievably well right now? Granted I'm able to avoid sportscenter and other networks "analysis" nowadays, but I haven't really heard many Jordan comparisons. And also, the announcers for every game of the series I watched made special mention of LeBron's supporting cast. There's even shirts about the "James gang". The comparisons abound, especially since Lebron chose to wear the number "23", coincidence? C'mon. I wish the NBA would just retire 23, league-wide. Its insulting that some of these fools get to wear it.
  17. I kinda felt like with Derrek Lee, we had a fairly average offense...of course he's out and everyone is in a mega-slump.
  18. Why is that? If I weren't a fan I'd still be rooting for the upset. I'm rooting for the Cavs just to see how many ways the talking heads can fall in love with LBJ if he makes it to the ECF. are you saying they don't have a reason to fall in love with him? on a related note, scottie pippen said before the cavs-wizards game that lebron would end up being better than jordan. it'll be interesting seeing him win at least 7 championships then I dislike Lebron mainly for this one reason: I'm tired of seeing him compared to Jordan. If I had my way, I wouldn't see any player ever glimpse the pinnacle that he reached, and Jordan's glory would be untouched. I don't want to see him get Babe Ruth'd. I want him to be remembered as the best for all time with no argument about it. Of course this'll never happen.
  19. Yet Dusty expressed desire for some speed on the basepaths, so should we fault our GM for trying to help a manager get talent he requires? Shouldn't that GM get someone with speed that can actually get on base? I mean I know it's nice the guy can run a 4 - 40 but what good does it do when the only place they go is from the batters box back to the dugout? But...but... Thats hard.

  21. I guess I should put in an official guess: 1 run in the 3rd, in a 12-1 loss.
  22. Wouldn't matter much, the manager can't change the roster, and thats exactly whats wrong with this team. No hitting. What can he do? I don't like Baker at all, but I'm far from a basher. I just don't think it should EVER occur to him to do things like starting Bynum two days in a row, especially since he didn't do much in the first game. If he gets 3 or 4 hits, I can deal with it, but just doing it for no reason is stupid. He loves taking out our hottest hitters for absolutely no reason, or for completely idiotic reasons like "going up against a left-hander" or something and keeping someone like Jacque Jones in. I especially love taking out Todd Walker for Neifi Perez, so Maddux can get better defense at 2b. I think the runs created by Walker more than makes up for his defense.
  23. Thats why they have the ring and Pennant and we can only dream of it No, that's not why at all. I really hope the first two posts are tongue-in-cheek, if not: The bunting, stealing, etc. was more of a distraction than a help to the Sox team. Reasons for winning the World Series: 1. Hot team, right after being pushed by the Indians for the division title 2. Superb pitching, in fact, almost supernatural pitching in the playoffs. 3. Career years from relatively mediocre players. 4. Lots of home runs. 5. Luck. Winning in the playoffs is usually a crapshoot. Bunting almost always causes a strategically negative effect. Never good to trade bases for outs. All the "fundamentals" have for the most part been refuted by stats as distractions. Speed as an important factor in a strong baseball team is also a misconception. "Manufacturing" runs is complete BS. A .260 hitter is more productive ("creates" more runs on average) swinging away at pitches than bunting a lead off man. Also, Joe Morgan is a moron. Unfortunately for the Cubs, Dusty Baker has FALLEN IN LOVE with this "small-ball" idea. Its complete contradictorary to effective baseball strategy, and is just a romantic view of the game. We're screwed until this idiot leaves.
