  1. If the Bears do go with an assistant who's on a playoff team, the hire wont be finalized until after the team is eliminated/wins the Super Bowl, right?
  2. this is finely crafted performance art
  3. Tunzi rocks. We need some more of that energy in here to be honest.
  4. A one-legged Kelce will drag 3 defenders into the end zone for the winning score while the refs ignore an egregious hands to the face penalty by an offensive lineman. We all know this will be true. I’ll be pulling for the Lions though. It’ll sadly make the Bears all the more embarrassed, but Detroit deserves something nice for a change.
  5. 100%. If Campbell can get a superbowl win for the Lions, nobody in Detroit will care if it all blows up immediately afterwards. I sure cherish the 2016 Cubs and will thank Maddon and co for it, even if they squandered a great core and organization after that.
  6. nothing. my own impression. its based on zero facts or logic. but i stand by it
  7. You know, for as much as we punted, and for as well as he apparently did, I rarely felt the impact of his punts. (This probably has much more to do with how bad the offense was and how bad the defense was from mid-season on) Which is a point in favor of Kyle's theory that there's no such thing as a special punter.
  8. I'll stand by my personal opinion of Dan Campbell: His horsefeathers will work really well until it doesn't, and when it blows up, its gonna blow up bad.
  9. has anything actually insightful ever been imparted from a press conference? I mean, sometimes you can find out how stupid a coach/GM is from what they say, but has the reverse ever been true. has anyone listened to a press conference and got something important or intelligible from it? It's all just coachspeak aphorisms. I think Belichick had it right. Feed the press/public horsefeathers and keep them in the dark.
  10. I would laugh so hard if any team hires McCarthy or Nagy. Impressive morons, those guys.
  11. Monken isn't even 60. I mean, Pete Carroll and Belichick are both north of 70. Monken's age doesn't phase me. Can't say I know much about him but he's an Illinois native, has coached one of the best offenses in the league the last two years and has a ton of experience. Could do worse.
  12. there are so few people that look exactly as Dumb as they are, and Mike McCarthy is one of em just so obviously a Dumb Guy. You can just tell from his slackjawed face
  13. Correct! Agreed on all counts! That doesn't change my mind about the 2022 tear down though.
  14. This simply doesn't bother me. It's not a thing I care about or factor in at all really.
  15. I'm marginally annoyed they're interviewing any DC candidates at all. Don't interview a single defensive minded person. Don't even give the impression it's a possibility.
  16. I am utterly bewildered by people who are mad at the 2022 tear down. What.... what was the difference there? Instead of 3-14 we could have been 7-10 ? There's nothing about what they did that offseason/season that I am upset about. I really don't get it. I am, however, upset at squandering the resources that were accumulated at that time. That's legit.
  17. Sure. And the thing that really separates elite defensive units from everyone else is a bomb ass pass rushing DT. But we got bigger fish to fry first, unfortunately (like constructing, still, a professional offense)
  18. The 2024 Bears had an inordinate number of injuries on their OLine but the Line was also unacceptably mediocre fully healthy. 3 years into a tenure. Can’t be that untalented on the line 3 years in, IMO.
  19. I know Laurence Holmes has been ragging on them passing up Jalen Carter from last year but I’m also like….do you really want to see the 2024 Bears without Darnell Wright AND with a head case guy with character issues?? On THIS team? With THIS coaching staff??
  20. It’s a small thing but…what happened to Montez Sweat this year? Yeah, no help on the other side of the defensive line but….5.5 sacks in 17 games? I don’t remember hearing his name basically at all the back half of the season. I don’t care if you have no other pass rushing help, that ain’t fuckin good enough if you’re supposedly “elite”
  21. 100%. Zero regret on that.
  22. Good job Caleb. Everyone else can go horsefeathers themselves. But I’m happy for him
  23. This is it. This is the nadir of the franchise. They can’t beat the packers in a meaningless game where their QB is knocked out of the game. It’s never been worse for the bears
