  1. This is the thing I never understood about pitchers facing Javy, and now pitchers facing PCA. Why would you ever throw a fastball even vaguely near the zone? Just throw breaking balls WAAAAY out of the zone if you get to two strikes and its an instant strike out. I think it took MLB about 5 years to figure this out with Javy, but it still boggled my mind why it took that long.
  2. Was at this game, first of the season. Boyd looked pretty nasty and the bleachers were CRAZY for PCA all night. His homer was definitely the highlight. im not gonna complain about a sweep but it would be nice if the offense picked up again. Lucky us that the pitching has kept them afloat in a dry offensive spell. Love this team, etc.
  3. the only thing i hate about media people harping on the last coaching staff is that they messed up in the most obviously dumb and stupid way possible. like in a way that shouldn't be possible at the pro level. you couldn't write a piece of fiction where the #1 overall pick QB watches tape by himself without any guidance from the coaching staff. thats simply something thats unfathomable to have occurred. and yet. it did. nfl teams are corporations worth billions of dollars. things like this shouldn't happen. it shouldn't even be possible for this kind of incompetence to occur, and yet the last several years of...this planet... prove that incompetence is possible at every layer of society.
  4. If the offense continues how its been for the first 1/3 of the season this team is fine Plus very fun to watch. It's sooooo much more fun to watch a team that can hit than one that can't.
  5. Tim Anderson.... slappy hitter guys who don't do anything other than hit slappily never excited me. Glad the White Sox are being punished for their impudence to the Baseball Gods.
  6. Can someone who pays more attention to these things tell me how the White Sox went from being a normal type mid-level team to being a total and complete dumpster fire setting records of badness? It was only like 2-3 years ago that they were competing in the AL Central and the bottom has completely fallen off which doesn't seem to add up to me. I know Reinsdorf and La Russa are like, very dumb and very bad, but its a pretty dramatic collapse in a short period of time.
  7. How hard is it to find a replacement level third baseman? It seems like it should be a relatively doable task
  8. Legit didn’t know Verlander was still pitching
  9. I’m definitely having the most fun with this season since 2016. Sucks to have so much injury trouble with our starters but this offense is fuuuuun
  10. Personally, I am enjoying Carson Kelly: Greatest Player in MLB History
  11. Don’t hate it, but almost would have preferred a trade down (if one was possible). This does say a lot about Ben Johnson’s priorities and what he wants from the offense. I’m sure Johnson will love having him. still want some OL and DL though obviously
  12. this is the most fun collection of hitters we've had since 2016
  13. this is easily the most fun a Cubs team has been since 2016
  14. are.... are the Cubs good? strange feeling, haven't felt this in ~8-9 years
  15. Can we please extend Tucker, what the horsefeathers man
  16. Boers and Bernstein really got me through some really boring and miserable jobs in the early 2000's to the mid-2010's, so I hand it to 'em. They could never find a good pairing for Bernstein after Boers retired, and sadly, the rest of the figures of the Score aren't really all that compelling. I think Laurence was O.K. paired up with him, but clearly the two of them didn't get along all that well because Laurence left the second he could to join with Spiegel. Marshall Harris is alright but he just doesn't have all that much character. Anyway, to quote another elderly man who's also addicted to social media: "I'll keep drinking that garbage."
  17. I'm definitely happy for Fields. He gets another chance to prove himself and start - more than most QBs get in the NFL. He was decent with the Steelers, definitely not "as good" as his numbers may have shown, but certainly took a step forward from where he was with the Bears. But, he was also clearly a limited QB - limited enough that one of the best coaches in the league benched him when he was running a 4-2 record. I wish him the best and I hope he fully figures it out.
  18. Second offseason in a row I’m very happy with how Poles is approaching the offseason. Last year didn’t work out but let’s hope eventually the moves pan out.
  19. Only actually costing a 4th and still keeping a 1st round pick would be an immense steal.
  20. That reads to me like they can make at least one more big signing or a couple medium level signings.
  21. How much money do we have left to spend while accounting for what we can expect we'll need to pay the incoming draft class?
  22. Whatever else you say about Ryan Poles, he does make big swings. I hope he connects here.
