  1. Four years at this university and all I know is embarrassment Where are those halcyon days of '05 when Illinois destroyed its opponents with ease? I saw Burr and Rick Hartzell and knew the game was going to be an officiating disaster. Honestly I thought they helped us out some. We shot more free throws today than we have hell ever. I just don't get how Weber keeps his job. At first we didn't have talent so we had to give him a pass even though recruiting is part of the job he's paid millions of dollars to do. Now we have talent and we are poor coached and unmotivated. When is someone in the media gonna start taking him to task? He's a clown that is the very real example of the Peter Principle. This is just as ridiculous as Zook keeping his job Death to Illinois Athletics
  2. As someone in the field, it's pretty difficult to operationalize "happy" in a quantifiable way in order to do meaningful research on it I would think. oh god finishing up a degree right now seeing the word "operationalize" makes me see red
  3. Do you know what my 4 years at Illinois has been now? A couple first round exits and now we probably don't deserve to make the tournament. In all athletics we've regressed, even that fluke year we went to the Rose Bowl didn't feel right because we weren't that good and it bought Zook dozens of more years.
  4. i agree with everyone that pargo is one of the most infuriating players to watch and its so much easier to see him not on the floor
  5. that was a piss poor game, but like someone said earlier understandable after traveling from an OT game last night still sucks to lose to bad teams
  6. I refuse to believe it. Mostly because I don't want to get my hopes up. Also I'm almost positive that even with all the cleared salaries we don't have room for 2 max contract guys Just getting Bosh would be incredible
  7. Whenever something spectacular happens I have to hush my friends because I want to hear Stacey King's call. Stacey king is the best NBA announcer there is. (if you are a homer and love tangents about Stewey Griffin)
  8. this is all very fascinating and all, but does anyone want to talk about the bulls?
  9. Tyrus Thomas trade apparently official. This is gonna leave the Bulls pretty darn shorthanded the rest of the year, but force us to make a big move in the off-season. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nba/news/story?id=4925000
  10. this really is a cherry on top of one of the most disappointing sports seasons I've ever witnessed Poor dude, but a magnificent failure of an organization in all aspects
  11. The Royals have basically built their off-season around trying to get rid of their best young hitter (Alberto Callaspo) so I don't know why we can't oblige them. Dunno if we have anything they'd want but he's young, talented, and terrible at defense so perfect for our middle infield.
  12. Blyleven will get in. Nobody gets that close without getting in. We'll see, clocks ticking I think he only gets 2 more years on. Blyleven jumped 11.5% this round. He's jumped ~26% over the last 3 rounds. And you think he won't pick up 1% over the next 2 years? When you get people retracting their votes like Mariotti and people violently opposed to Bert getting in I could see a backlash and him possibly going backwards in voting yes. Do I think he'll get in? Maybe. Also to answer the OMC's question, I don't see how that guy would detract from the quality of player in the HOF especially with some of the recent inducteees. I don't know anything else other than the guy's B-R page, so feel free to clue me in. I'm gonna stay consistent, buddy.
  13. Blyleven will get in. Nobody gets that close without getting in. We'll see, clocks ticking I think he only gets 2 more years on.
  14. If we are going to use stupid milestones like 3000, 300, 500, etc. than we might as well do this as well: If you had a career OBP of .400+ over a long enough period of ABs you probably should be in the hall of fame
  15. If i ran into Mariotti on the street I'd probably do something that would get me arrested a year after voting for Blyleven he sends in an empty ballot in an imitation of one of those old dinosaurs that refuses to vote anyone in. Its all a freaking power trip to these people, unbelievable. I should have known the HOF would be outrageous considering how correct all the regular season awards were, we don't have that much karma saved up. If Blyleven doesn't get in the HOF is a complete sham. (it already was before but its getting ridiculous, if he had compiled another 13 wins he'd have been in 10 years ago. Also Santo, etc.)
  16. I'd love to see the Cubs be on par with the Cardinals in 2010 but I don't really see that with the rosters the way they are right now Maybe a full year of Ramirez and Soriano bouncing back to doing something but I still feel like the offense has so many ways to fail, I could see Lee going back down to earth along with who knows whats going on in the middle infield. Soto is a question mark, bullpen is a question mark, some of the rotation is a question mark. There are a lot more sure things on the Cardinals, IMO. There are also a lot of sure holes on the Cardinals but they have a lot of players they can depend on. I do believe that they'll have a ton of money tied up in 2012 and on and that bodes well for us, but I dunno we have to make some big changes to compete at the moment, IMO.
  17. Although this isn't the best contract for the Cardinals and Holliday isn't exactly the player he's heralded as, this still means the Cardinals are far and away the best team for like, the next 3 years minimum. (as long as they keep Pujols) I might watch baseball from afar, our Cubs aren't doing much for a while.
  18. Go Hawkeyes, lets give the Big Ten a winning bowl season for once Stopping the wishbone is gonna be difficult but at least you've had a month to prep for it.
  19. "We're not gonna try harder because we were already trying as hard as we could this year."
  20. Why all this vitriol for Lovie? I feel like Angelo has done a much much more inferior job than Lovie
  21. It cannot be said enough so I'll just say it once more for emphasis FIRE RON TURNER Ask Madden is a better option for running an offense
  22. I know, its incredible This really should bode well for him next year, lets just fire all the coaches
  23. Devin Aromashado wooooooo
  24. Looked like Forte of last year :D
