  1. It'd be pretty cool if Soriano could be useful this year All the other hitters are sorta doing something, this sorta patchwork team might be able to put together a few runs
  2. Its games like these, games where...the terrible ass pitcher that we had to take on the roster because of some other terrible moves gives us a few good starts (he'll be worthless in a few starts of course) and we face a guy that went 3-11 with a 6+ ERA last year and we're down its games like these that encapsulate what being a Cubs fan is EDIT: Soriano bunting loooooooool
  3. Is Z hitting for himself? If he is I hope he jacks one here
  4. Byrd is freakin' jacked, I'd love to get some work out pointers from him
  5. You mean like how he pitched really really well for us in his first start? NL transition bump :hello:
  6. Other positive (for now) news: St. Louis is down 2-1 after 6 to Houston. That won't last. STL has not looked very good in this homestand against the measly Astros. Their pitching has though. Starters are just all gonna be Dave Duncan fixes this year I guess. was there ever any doubt? throw them carlos silva and they'll bring you back a cy young winner
  7. The only bright spot is we're up against Jeff Suppan who is one of the worst pitchers in the major leagues the bad thing is we're gonna have to deal with another 5 innings of wild ass crazy Z + bullpen and our offense just loves getting fooled by bad pitchers
  8. Nah I'm happy to see this team persevere and win a playoff spot rather than the miniscule chance they get a lottery pick Sure they'll get completely manhandled by the Cav's but maybe, just maybe, we'll have a re-enactment of last years first round and that was hella entertaining
  9. hahahha yess, i really do hate the brewers
  10. BTW I'm not sure exactly what role Chad Tracy plays on the team other than to look completely overmatched in every at bat
  11. the 2010 cubs are pretty bad its time for you boys to find secondary teams, I'm looking at the Twins and A's (because i love pain) myself
  12. all this 'aggressive' baserunning is going to make me vomit if we continue doing this into the season
  13. I'd freak out if that happened. In a good way :) Don't they trade their pick if they make the lottery or something odd like that?
  14. Seeing the corpse of Vernon Wells actually do something the first week of play might push Soriano over the hump and well into "Worst Contract Given Out In the History of MLB" I almost have a perverse desire to see this go as bad as it can. Soriano, over the course of 300 odd at bats, on and off injured, hitting around .180, little to no power, absolutely terrible defense. Then I want to see the blaming, the namecalling, the fighting in between the front office and him. I just want to see the whole media circus and then he's dishonorably thrown to some other team while we pay his entire contract. Thats what I want to see.
  15. I only just checked the boxscore and all I needed to see was that we had 8 walks and 1 run This team continues to amaze and bedazzle the human mind
  16. This team is not nearly as good as the 2008 team
  17. Hi, I'm the Bulls and are fighting for a playoff spot *outscores opponent by 13 in first quarter* *scores NINE POINTS IN THE SECOND QUARTER*
  18. Woo, i was scared there that I'd get my hopes up for more than an inning there thanks Heyward
  19. Someone literally quoted me twice and asked for a response, yes that qualifies as 'hounding' me. I don't even want to be smug about this, I just want you guys to realize how confrontational and argumentative you can sometimes be on a throwaway comment. Just let things be.
  20. Who was the poster hounding me for saying that the trades made us worse. I'm not a "I told you so guy" and you even seemed right at the time but this team is now in complete free fall mode and has another 4-5 games in a row they wont win. I'm also prepared for the inevitable "blargh blech injuries blarhg blech blargh" response
  21. Its definitely hebrew
  22. at least Unofficial was a blur, I'm still a little hungover from friday
  23. Four years at this university and all I know is embarrassment Where are those halcyon days of '05 when Illinois destroyed its opponents with ease? I saw Burr and Rick Hartzell and knew the game was going to be an officiating disaster. Honestly I thought they helped us out some. We shot more free throws today than we have hell ever. I just don't get how Weber keeps his job. At first we didn't have talent so we had to give him a pass even though recruiting is part of the job he's paid millions of dollars to do. Now we have talent and we are poor coached and unmotivated. When is someone in the media gonna start taking him to task? He's a clown that is the very real example of the Peter Principle. This is just as ridiculous as Zook keeping his job Death to Illinois Athletics
  24. As someone in the field, it's pretty difficult to operationalize "happy" in a quantifiable way in order to do meaningful research on it I would think. oh god finishing up a degree right now seeing the word "operationalize" makes me see red
