  1. All this 'pressure' stuff literally means nothing to a player that wants to win a championship. I hate these kind of hypothesizations, of course the worst place to go for the pressure of winning is New York. Look how much they flip out on the Yankees when they don't have a good week As it is, there is no other team with the cap space that is more talented and as young as the Bulls. We would be scary good with LeBron. Unfortunately I can't let myself entertain the idea for too long, I'm setting myself up for some harsh disappointment. Oh well.
  2. Cubs have had 10 base runners, the Marlins 4. The Cubs are down I feel like, and I wont check because I don't care to know what the factual leader is, that the Cubs lead the majors in "More baserunners but less runs than opponent"
  3. you guys ready for it all to fall apart? ready ? here we go
  4. I'm not sure what that means as Ted Lilly is a horrible hitter. roughly as good as our 5th hitter, however
  5. the only time I liked seeing the pitcher up was when we had Z starting :?
  6. Actually, we just had a recent tangent where the admins made it clear that these threads are specifically not supposed to be a place where people just take an emotional dump. Besides, this is how I blow off steam. just seems exhausting
  7. Mojo, and I know you're going to take this the wrong way, but especially in a game thread, you gotta let a lot of this frustration-posting slide. I feel like you can't let one off-the-cuff remark go by without correcting someone. They're game threads, its where people go to blow off steam.
  8. yankee tears are so sweet, the other board I frequent they were the only ones cheering for the perfecto to be broken up, hell the Rays fans were rooting for the perfecto I hope the A's can slip into the playoffs, even with their abysmal batting, they are awesome and when they are good it is Good For Baseball
  9. Dallas Braden throwing a no-no/perfect game would own so hard, it would piss Yankee fans off so much and make ESPN explode
  10. death to lou piniella, death to chicago sports
  11. why does Lou overextend Dempster basically every single time we see him pitch? its really infuriating
  12. How is down by one run on the road against their best pitcher "embarrassing fashion"? I know its the Pirates but still. Paul Malholm is [expletive] terrible and we've been leaving runners everywhere. yeah i just turned it on but from the boxscore it looks like a typical letdown 2010 game for the Cubs, just make a run you morons, and they keep doing it against the worst teams too (Reds, Astros, Nationals, now the Pirates) its embarrassing, even if this team plays at a barely .500 level I'd prefer them just get swept by good teams and beat bad teams (thats not how baseball works obviously)
  13. i would really despise giving a W to a pitcher that had 3 walks and 1 strike out and giving an L to a guy with 7 Ks and 1 BB

  15. that would be wonderful and probably guarantee lebron leaving
  16. impossible to say about the cubs, every day when i look at the boxscores and see we have like 15 baserunners and then 3 runs i just poop myself in anger
  17. I commonly see people say that Sandberg is a bad choice and I seem to recall him being a bunt-a-holic but is there any other juicy quotes or stats backing the "he'd be a terrible manager" opinion?
  18. Maybe, maybe not. Who's really in the market for a first basemen and prepared to spend cash? The Yankees and the Red Sox both have those positions filled, and the Mets already had their spending spree (and burnt once already with Carlos Delgado) and may be satisfied with the Ike Davis spectacularium. In fact if anyone is gonna go off the reservations with a first basemen contract, its us. (For better or worse, I wouldn't mind a young-ish Adrian Gonzalez banging it for us at Wrigley, remember that series in 08 when he seemed to hit a home run in every at bat?)
  19. It's because we had a fighter's chance in the series' against those teams. We never had a shot in this series. I wasn't even really upset that we were mauled today. The only reason why I don't want the Cavs to win the title is because I want LeBron to be so pissed off at the organization that he decides to bolt. Other than that, I wouldn't have a problem rooting for them at all. LeBron could really only be upset with himself. The Cavs had some glaring matchup problems with the Magic last year, and for the most part they went out and fixed them. They also added another very solid offensive option in Jamison. The Cavs have, by far, the most talented roster in the Eastern Conference. Although, Orlando still scares the hell out of me. They have the best inside-outside game in the NBA, and if they get some hot shooting for a few games in a row, there really isn't a whole lot that the Cavs can do about it. I think that if both teams make it to the ECF, Vince Carter will be the most important player in the series. An Orlando-Cleveland ECF rematch would be a really awesome series, and though it seems predestined, with the way the whole playoffs thing goes, I wouldn't be surprised if one of the teams doesn't make it there. For whatever its worth, the playoff simulator on espn predicts a 55-45 Cleveland favorite in such a scenario, so basically a toss up.
  20. If there is anything you can be sure of in this life, its that the Cardinals will manage to piss you off anytime you're mildly happy
  21. if A-ram strikes out or GIDP I'll be...I'll be really dissapointed
  22. ahahaha just seeing "jeff baker strike out" compounds the bad plays by lou GET SOME RUNS GOD DAMNIT ITS NOT THAT HARD
