  1. Them only signing a David Lee or a Boozer is our fear. Posts like these dazzle me:
  2. I'm doing the rounds responding to stuff from 10 pages ago now Wait...why does there need to be karmic justice for this, it was clearly an "action reaction" that immediately after they left we were the worst team in the league for about 10 years
  3. This board is sometimes a great case study in strangely paranoid and neurotic Chicago Fans. There is absolutely no way, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, the Bulls whiff on ALL free agents, but thats not necessarily a good thing. They will sign somebody, a David Lee or a Boozer GUARANTEED, the team is too good, they have too much free money, the CBA is coming to an end, its just going to happen. If they were a Knicks or Nets quality team they might whiff, considering how awful the franchise had been the last decade, but they are going to get someone. The only thing left to worry is if they get someone either A: Worth the contract (A Bosh or Wade or Lebron at max) or B: A good roleplayer at less than a max. If they mix A and B together (do something disastrous like give a 29 year old, injury prone Boozer a max contract) it could be bad OR THE CBA COULD COMPLETELY CHANGE AND WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAPPEN. Thats why all these crazy contracts are happening anyway (Joe Johnson in Atlanta)
  4. I'd love it for the Reds to shut the Cardinals out of the playoffs, hooray collusion
  5. no joke man, this might be my internal bias kicking in but I've seen them make some stupendous XBH saving plays the last few years whenever we play them I hate playing these guys, aside from that awesome Inside-the-park home run Lee hit there a few years back
  6. I'd happily accept Lou for another 10 years (if he lives that long) if we fired Hendry today and hired someone capable. The manager has such a little effect on the outcome of a season that its not even fair. Look at 2008, Lou could have done all the finagling he wanted to do and we'd still have won 97 games. Give a manager a good enough roster and he looks fine. (TLR, Girardi, etc)
  7. I have the awful habit of tuning into the Score sometimes and man...some people really need to cling to something on the Cubs and Colvin has transformed into that. NSBB is the kneejerk capital of Cub reactions so its only natural. When the papers and the media get ahold of Colvin and build the expectations up for 2011...its not gonna be good for the kid or the city. Who knows, whatever, I'm expecting the worst out of everything. (That he'll play exactly to his talent level and everyone will freak out when its not a repeat of this year) I'm not planning on seriously paying attention to the Cubs for another few years anyway.
  8. I'm gonna say right now, and I'm prepared to eat crow but theres no way Wade is coming to the Bulls. This is leverage and some more shrewd planning on Wade's part. Regardless, my thoughts on Wade: I really really don't think Wade would work in Chicago, and I'm not even sure I want him that much though I obviously wont complain if he signs with us. I know how cliche and stupid the whole "Lebron and Wade play the SAME GAME! They cannot work together!" but its to the nth degree with Rose in Chicago. It doesn't solve our front court problem, it doesn't solve our shooter problem, and it makes us have one of the smallest backcourts in the league. On the other hand we'd also be much, much better
  9. Is it fair they put this Schlitter guy directly into the fire the first two appearances he has in the major leagues? It seems pretty damn horrible for him
  10. I'm hearing rumblings of a Chris Bosh S&T for Gibson, Picks and Trade Exceptions... If what you guys say is true than James wouldn't leave to go play with Rose-Bosh-Noah but for less money ?
  11. To guys like Bosh and Lebron, the salary doesn't even matter. If they came to Chicago/New York the endorsements would be so enormous that whether they were making the maximum or not they'd be getting egregious amounts of money If its a pride thing I guess I get it, but if I"m Lebron and I get the chance to play in Chicago with Bosh-Noah-Rose and have to take slightly less money than Bosh I would still [expletive] jump at the chance but I can't say what he would do in that situation with that pitch
  12. Lets be honest though, moving Colvin to 1b wouldn't even rank in the top 10 of bad moves the Cubs have made this season
  13. I love that whenever we have the chance to pull a game out some player, often a really good one, has to have a bad day to pull defeat from the jaws of victory
  14. Royals, Giants, Astros and Mariners probably don't but yeah pretty good summation
  15. I really really really hope we don't end up with just Dirk Nowitzki or Joe Johnson, that would be worst case scenario i think (even over not signing anyone and keeping open cap)
  16. I really hope we get Carlos Boozer and Joe Johnson and we get the biggest blue balls of all time
  17. And it has the awful Muse song playing over and over and over. I get ultra smug over this because I liked Muse in the small window when they actually were good and then got out immediately when they showed signs of jumping the shark (their new album is complete [expletive]) and now they're huge and overexposed and I get to be a pretentious ass about it
  18. there should be no doubt in anyones mind that he'll shut down the cubs though
  19. At least he hired a Jew, I trust one of my people to handle the numbers well
  20. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH why must every manager seem to have one player that is so so so bad, but they can't help but love and play so damn often? Why must there always be a Nick Punto, an Aaron Miles, a Koyie Hill?
  21. Lou did the whole "have Zambrano bat for himself and then pull him in the next inning" thing and its never gotten any less dumb Get ready to see Sandberg call for bunts, hit and runs and steals galore Its gonna be awesome. If 2010 is our letdown year a la 2005, get ready for 2006 redux next year
  22. This was the first game I was able to see in person in more than a year, pretty much the lamest game I could have seen for that matter. Oh well, won a beer from my buddy when I bet that someone would hit a home run (Thank you Colvin!) and thats about it. Poor Derrek Lee. Also, jesus christ, Lou, bringing Z out to bat for himself was one of the [expletive] dumbest things I've ever seen someone pull.
