At the end of this day, all we can really say is that it's cool to be involved, because at no time in the previous 100-whatever years prior to 2015 or so would we be. He clearly wants to be on the west coast, but the cubs overall product is too hard to give a flat no to without at least spinning the tires. Thanks Theo.

Are you talking about shazier? yeah. i just can't watch tackle football anymore. I have never felt that sick to my stomach, though I only saw a clip on twitter. I can't imagine seeing it on tv live. -

also, if that's all it was, you'd think the yankees would've gotten a foot in the door. i still can't believe he rejected them off the bat, lmao Their front office is not comparable to ours. Theo and Jed were presumably putting together a presentation about 25 year old stars and a world series trophy while cashman was rappelling down buildings like george costanza with a male crush on tony.

They're not in our division. Who cares? I know this is your robot way of saying the playoffs are a crapshoot, but I don't think it's a particularly hot take to not want the best team in our league (who just beat our pants off in the playoffs) to get the best available player in the offseason.

Anything that makes the Dodgers better is bad. From the looks of the finalists, he wants to be on the west coast, but our front office is good enough to at least get a foot in the door. It's better than the alternative, but doesn't fill me with a bunch of confidence.

Going to erase the Angels and Padres, because if he wants to go to a middling team he can just go to Seattle where he can A.) DH and B.) Isn't a wasteland like the Angels. Erase the Rangers because out of the two non-West Coast teams, I'm going to assume the Cubs pedigree outweighs the Rangers playing in the AL. So Mariners, Giants, Dodgers, Cubs. Mariners 50/Giants 20/Dodgers 20/Cubs 10.

You wanna watch the next Jon Jay slap singles and doubles as the 4th OF, or do you want to see this? I'd rather see him pitch. I mean, I'm not saying the guy should never step to the plate; I just think it's silly to try and get him hundreds of AB's a season. You only have to get him 100-200 ABs once. If he can't hang, he's smart enough to know. Or maybe he's such a freak that he'll just make himself better. Or maybe you get a 14 WAR player. It literally doesn't matter. Promise him whatever it takes to get him here. If he can't do it well enough, keep him out of the lineup. What's he gonna do, retire?

Giancarlo to the Giants seems like best case scenario for us? They're not good enough in the short term for him to really make a difference, and his injury concerns/coming decline would leave them with a huge contract albatross after a few years.

Theo had some event in Chicago today and somehow a guy I know who is up there for some church deal worked security for his line. I told him to stay close to Theo and report back anything funny he heard. He said one guy asked him to leave Chicago and be the Reds' GM. Theo's response: "I can't stand three days in Cincinnati."
