i can't find the original reference, maybe it got deleted in the hack or something. It was when bum told us he was Ba'Hai and discussed how they didn't do christmas, his family would just leave him a small gift each day on his pillow every day for 12 days or something. it was insane even though the religion sounds kinda cool tbh

I'm not necessarily against a Darvish signing, but at 6 years you're certainly losing one year to injury, and likely another to ineffectiveness due to age/recovery.

Yeah there was a split between whether the Cubs overpaid or not. The people that said the Cubs didn't overpay pointed to his consistently high WAR production. The people that said he did either ignored WAR as a stat or felt that fielding and baserunning metrics are not as accurate as we think they are. Regardless of whatever side people were on, almost no one expected it to be an albatross contract and definitely not so soon into the deal. He seemed like such a high-floor signing that the money was literally no concern to me.
