i mean every team is essentially just waiting for the right time to search for a manager who fails in a different way than their current manager fails. Joe's weird horsefeathers that he pulls is a good example of the fact that every coach is dumb in their own way. You just pay them until you're sick of their weakness and you bring in a guy with a different weakness.

That was a very good assessment of the team, though. It was the lazy get traffic assessment of the team and not really understanding that we are in a still really big window. it called them "perennial contenders" for the future. We've been lucky to have three straight years of 90+ wins, that rarely rarely happens. Even rarer is for that to happen at the beginning of a window. But there's a very narrow margin for this team (any team,) and given our pitching and bullpen issues, there's a reasonable argument you could make that what looked like an unstoppable juggernaut 12 months ago could be a couple injuries away from a win total in the mid 80s.

the only complaint i have about this person whom i couldnt pick out of a lineup of 2 is that heyward got way worse and russell hasn't improved. everything else has been great. You could probably even give him credit for schwarber's post-demotion stats and Happ's constant in-season adjustments.
