  1. From the short glimpses I've seen of him he's added absolutely nothing to his game since Georgetown.
  2. I'm glad NBC isn't bothering to show the damn team pursuit final so they can air a half-hour puff piece about a tiny town in Canada that sheltered international flights on 9/11.
  3. That Notre Dame game was un-freaking-real. Two winnable games left (UConn, @Marquette). If they can take those, plus one in the Big East tourney, I think they sneak in to the tournament. That's still a tall order. Those last-second losses to Rutgers, St. John's, Louisville, Cincinnati and Seton Hall (should've won all 5) loom pretty large right now.
  4. Not so much, IMO. He made his point (canadian judge, he didnt really push the guy, canadian won gold/silver, etc) but he did it with a smile and right away moved on to talking about the next race he was going to be in. I like the way he handled it, personally. And yeah, if simply having your hand on someone means you get DQ'd, then sure, he deserved it. But the guy who won gold did the same thing, and actually pushed (unlike Ohno), and he didn't get a damn thing. Pretty pathetic. The race Ohno fell in, he got pushed by someone too, and that guy wasn't DQ'd either. Seems really lame.
  5. If Dez is still available at 17 there are about 5 GMs that need to be fired. He's a top 10 talent.
  6. Lopez was spectacularly better than he's been before or since in his first tour in St. Louis (.964 OPS...2nd highest total in his career was .855 after being traded to Brewers last year), so why not give it a second look?
  7. Haha, it only took them a year and a half to figure that one out. A lot longer than that. This is the 2000 Olympics we're talking about, not the 2008 Bejing games.Oh. I didn't even know they had that age limit back then, and I don't remember hearing about any controversy.

  9. I refuse to believe it. Mostly because I don't want to get my hopes up.
  10. Hey, Brandon Crawford!
  11. The Lions should be all over Suh if the Rams don't take him.
  12. Hummel's ACL is torn.
  13. I'm with you, dew. The Rams should go another direction with their top pick, whether it be Suh or Berry. No QB is going to be able to make the difference there right now. Of the teams in the top 5, really only Washington needs to consider taking a QB.
  14. you're insane my friend. Clausen is deadly accurate and his decision-making is unbelievable. well, you've definitely watched them more than i have, but you're also an ND grad. i've never ever been impressed with clausen. Dude threw 2 picks that could be blamed on him last year, had the most insane 4th quarter numbers I've ever seen, and I can probably count on my 2 hands the amount of just plain bad throws he made. All with torn ligaments in his toe for 9 1/2 of the 12 games. Got damn near murdered his freshman year playing behind the worst offensive line in NCAA football history, with an injury that limited his ability to throw deep, raw and undeveloped as all get out, and still managed to throw more TD's than picks. He's the most accurate QB I've ever watched, throws a good deep ball, rarely makes a bad decision, and is a proven clutch quarterback. I'm vaguely hoping people pay more attention to his 'lack of upside' and his team's lack of wins so that he can keep from getting Brady Quinn'ed into a hopeless team. I'd never say I'm positive that someone will succeed in the pros (I thought that about Quinn and that didn't turn out so hot), but if Clausen doesn't then I'm not sure what Notre Dame quarterback ever will.
  15. http://www.draftinsider.net/blog/?p=740 I really have not been able to figure out by any stretch why Bradford is rated higher than Clausen by any reputable draft analysts. Not that there's no way Bradford COULD BE a better NFL quarterback, but when it comes to NFL quarterbacking skills, there isn't anything Bradford seems to have on him at this juncture. But what am I saying? I don't want Jimmy anywhere near St. Louis. Bradford's a stud. Grab him up, St. Louis. He's there for the taking. Dude played in a national title game!
  16. Hummel gets hurt, and the rest of the team forgets how to play. Moore looks like he's never shot the ball before. All they can do is shoot 3's. Not getting it to JJ and Moore is doing absolutely nothing. Not to be a hater, but 3-point shooting is a pretty huge part of your offense no matter who's on the floor. Purdue is ranked 228th in 3PA/FGA. Quiet, you. O:)

  18. Notre Dame utterly befuddles me. Last two games, lost to Louisville in 2 OTs in a game where the general consensus is that the refs allowed Samardo Samuels all the leeway in the world leading to us fouling out 4 players. Today, defensively dominate Pittsburgh (three words that have no correlation together in ND basketball) and edge back toward .500 in the league. Both without Harangody. Hope for next year, I guess. Winning out is the only way an NCAA bid would even be possible and that's not going to happen. Eastern Michigan earns the sulleymon memorial Chuckers Label by shooting 32 of their 59 attempts from beyond the arc tonight, making only 9 of them, and still somehow beating Ball State to make winning the division that much harder. I have about as much antipathy toward EMU at the moment as it's possible to have for a lower-tier MAC team.
  19. Rich Rodriguez could be from whatever coaching tree he wanted to be if he hadn't missed the postseason the last two years. His feet on the fire is about W's and L's, not systems.
  20. On to the semis! Bring it, Finland/Czechs
  21. According to SportsbyBrooks, ESPN doesn't have the authority to suspend him from his radio show (Dan Snyder owns the station it airs on, and it's merely affiliated with ESPN). It's also been announced that Kornheiser has been banned from criticizing any ESPN employee for any reason on any outlet in the future. TK's contract is up soon and it's rumored that this massive overreaction is to gain leverage in talks on a new deal.
  22. Sports by Brooks says it was just about the Storm comments. Typical ESPN overreaction.
  23. Well, it may just be because it's during the day, but it's cool that NBC is showing the US/Swiss game live today.
  24. They're also coached by John Beilein, who's made 3-point shooting his M.O. his entire career (WVU was the chuckingest team who ever chucked when he was their coach). oh, absolutely, beilein is the king of chuckers, a title previously held by tom coverdale. The lead singer from Whitesnake? No, a nothing redhead from IU who no one had ever heard of till he dropped 723 points on Notre Dame one year*. Man, I couldn't stand him. * may be slight exaggeration. In Valley news, UNI just lost to Evansville, who was 1-15 in the league coming in. Soooo, there's that.
