The Reds were inexplicably added to the blackout list for South Bend this year (which already included both Chicago teams and the Tigers) even though Cincinnati is a good 5.5 or 6 hours from here. Milwaukee is twice as close and is not blacked out. 5 miles north of here in Niles, Michigan, the Tigers are the only blacked-out team. Anyway, I picked a really crappy day to not get on the computer. Missed my GDT turn and my mock-draft pick. I'll post a GDT for the next game after CT's run is over.

This is a tough spot. Carolina would kill for Claiborne to be here but he's not. Michael Floyd would be a luxury buy for a team that has more important needs. Dontari Poe destroyed at the combine but I'm leery of gym-class heroes. Quinton Coples has effort issues. Fletcher Cox would be a reach here. Luke Kuechly is good but Carolina has a couple of good LBs in his mold already. Although I don't like to do it, Carolina takes Dontari Poe here and hopes he's really as good as he appeared at the combine. Their front four needs are that pressing.

I'm down to Castro, Soto and Soriano. I'd like to add a couple this year but the question is whether anyone's going to be good enough to justify buying any.

I know no one cares if we win any games this year, but Barney 2nd and Soto 8th? REALLY?

We could keep up to 7 players (1 for 3 years, 2 for 2 years and 4 for 1 year) at their existing salary. I opted not to use my 3-year keeper, passing on Albert Pujols at $43 because my team was bad last year (lots of holes to fill) and I'm not sure I buy that he'll be as good in the coming years. He ended up being taken for $49 in this year's draft, though his value may have been somewhat inflated since he was easily the best unkept player.
