  1. I'm rooting for whoever comes out of the NFC whichever of them win. SF/Giants should be a very entertaining game.
  2. Urban Meyer poaches Taylor Decker from ND. This is what I was worried about...this will be far from the last time this happens.
  3. UConn remains a wildly athletic, big team. Last couple years that played right into ND's hands, today it did not. Too bad, but if Brey can squeeze a 9-9 or 10-8 Big East season out of this squad he needs a statue or something.
  4. Stop that! Why? Because you don't play for the Boston Celtics and we don't play for the Chicago Bulls. he's been a fan of the celtics longer than any of their players have been there, likewise us for the bulls. i don't see a problem with it. This is precisely what I say to anyone who gives me crap for using 'we'. It's a dumb argument like Banedon said, though.
  5. Hope Golson is ready I'm less worried about Golson's readiness than about Kelly's being intelligent enough to play him - or anyone but Rees for that matter. Right. Golson would have been a heisman candidate if only his coach had been smart enough to play him. That might be a slight exaggeration of my position. At no point have I even alluded to the opinion he should've played this year (and he shouldn't have).
  6. I thought he was already signed through '15, shows how much I know.
  7. Hope Golson is ready I'm less worried about Golson's readiness than about Kelly's being intelligent enough to play him - or anyone but Rees for that matter.
  8. #1 LSU vs #4 Stanford #2 Bama vs #3 Oklahoma St I'm just sayin'. 2010: #1 Auburn vs #4 Stanford #2 Oregon vs #3 TCU 2009: #1 Alabama vs #4 TCU #2 Texas vs #3 Cincinnati There are very few years in which a simple 4 team playoff wouldn't work, it seems to me. And Pete Thamel estimated that it would net double in TV money what the BCS's current deal gets.
  9. If Bama had just done this the first time maybe we would've gotten to see Oklahoma St or Stanford here and found out if these really were the best two teams. Saban just coached circles around Miles.
  10. And on the other side, Ronald Darby decommits from ND.
  11. I'm not sure what the collective board opinion is of the movie Miracle but I'm surprised no one else mentioned Mike Eruzione as the first thing to come to mind hearing Rizzo.
  12. Notre Dame won at Louisville. I'm completely perplexed. Mike Brey's doing a good job with this team, they have no business beating anyone decent.
  13. It's probably just because I just saw Moneyball last night, but this trade combined with the others is giving me a vibe like the scene where Beane trades Pena and Jeremy Giambi. "You don't even know who Zach Cates is. Just throw him in."
  14. Kaplan already calling for Generic White Backup Infielder X to be made starting shortstop in the wake of this nonsense. /not really - yet
  15. Now I know why ND beat Pitt. Pitt sucks. Really bad.
  16. - Zambrano's contract is a sunk cost, money didn't matter - Z is pretty much a non-entity at this point in his career - We got a non-entity in return who has a better chance of being valuable for the Cubs in 2012 and beyond - our new non-entity also has a better chance of being valued at the deadline Fair points. I'm fairly meh on this trade, I just hate to see Z's Cubs career end like this. Before he stopped being just a knucklehead and started being a flat-out idiot, he was my favorite Cub. Here's hoping for a randomly awesome year out of Volstad.
  17. I'm certain I'm underrating the 'clubhouse cancer' dynamic, but dumping Zambrano and paying almost his entire contract for a nonentity like Volstad doesn't strike me as economically smart no matter how much of an idiot Zambrano is.
  18. I should like Brady Hoke given that he's a BSU man but it's just impossible to see those helmets and wish him anything but doom and destruction.
  19. Uh-huh. One field goal too many. Why do coaches keep letting it come down to that?
  20. I think elbow grazes the ground in bounds. The ball is more questionable. By the 'indisputable' standard constantly shoved down our throats it should not be overturned. But naturally it was.
  21. The VT side is probably the same side as the press box where that pic was taken. So the teams all have to fill an entire side of the stadium? Don't they get like 20,000 tickets allotted? Ugh, Michigan's D fails them when its been their rock almost all year. The tickets are on a specific side for the most part. I attended the 07 Sugar Bowl and all the Notre Dame fans were pretty much together. (LSU fans were of course all over the place.)
  22. Still went for two too early but that time it worked out for VT.
  23. That was a pretty awesome ending to a horribly played basketball game. Well done Mr. Rose.
  24. Boise would have obliterated either of these teams.
  25. I've never understood how someone could like college more than the NFL. Some people don't understand how one could like college basketball more than the NBA either, but [expletive] happens.
