There is no functional difference between this guy and David Patton, the last guy we picked up in Rule 5 and inexplicably kept on our roster all year for sport. ETA: Which isn't to say he's necessarily awful, he's just no better than any number of arms we could shuttle back and forth to Iowa without consequence
I feel like Soriano deserves to be rung up every time when he starts a swing on a pitch nowhere close to the zone, even if he comes nowhere close to going around.
I understand not wanting him to play an important role, but why wouldn't one want to keep Omer Asik? If you don't want to pay him the type of money he'll command, that's one thing, but he's a nice piece in a defensive role.
