  1. Every time someone goes for 2 before the final 7 minutes of the 4th quarter, it befuddles me. It seems like every single time they end up in a situation later where that costs them.
  2. Rees sucks, but it's not his fault Kelly keeps trotting him out there. What a horrendous offensive showing, but sadly completely in line with what I predicted. FSU is a very solid defensive team and ND had no answer. Maybe with J. Gray it would've been different, but I doubt it.
  3. I doubt Purdue and MSU will drop ND just for money's sake. Michigan can cram 175,000 or whatever absurd capacity they've expanded to by now into that stadium no matter how good they are or who they're playing. Purdue and MSU still get a benefit financially from the ND games. But nothing would surprise me.
  4. Well, here's why UM is cancelling the ND series.
  5. If they'd rather not play us then more power to them. Swarbrick will hopefully take a break from announcing games with the Rices, Akrons and Temples of the world to fill that hole with a decent game.
  6. Gonna watch this game on DVR later. This result thoroughly confuses me.
  7. Man, if only Carolina had hit their stride just a couple weeks earlier. If they hadn't blown a big lead against Atlanta and Olindo Mare could kick a [expletive] field goal, this could've been a playoff team. Hopefully the momentum continues into 2012.
  8. Boise/Michigan or even Baylor/Michigan (or heck, Boise/Baylor) would've been a great Sugar Bowl.
  9. Unsurprisingly, after Chryst leaves Wisconsin, Crist chooses Kansas.
  10. I didn't catch the whole IU/ND game, but from what I saw...holy God, the Irish are even worse than I thought. 5-7 Big East wins seems likely.

    Cubs DVDs

I would've picked his 2-homer game against Cincy that Patterson later won with a walk-off.

    Cubs DVDs

Daryle Ward's homer, Jim Edmonds's most-likely-apocryphal "[expletive] done with St. Louis" game, the back to back Mets games in April where Cedeno and Pie of all people had huge home runs, the Reed Johnson game against Arizona, Aramis's White Sox walk-off...I really want a DVD encompassing that whole regular season. Most fun I've ever had day to day with a sports team. The best moment for me though was the Aramis slam against Philly, though, because the Cubs had come through so many times by that point that I was virtually certain Aramis was going to homer.
  13. Might be time to pull the plug on the Gabbert experiment. He looks like Jimmy Clausen 2.0 (can't escape pressure, holds onto the ball too long)
  14. Doesn't explain why he turned down the Vandy job last offseason, though.
  15. 2nd time in 18 months that Bill Simmons has written a "[fill in superstar] should go to Chicago if he wants to win" column about a guy who's clearly not coming to Chicago. I feel like there's some dark secret about the Bulls that explains why no one wants to play here that we'll learn later or something.
  16. Todd Graham bolts Pitt for ASU, tells his players in a text message. How nice.
  17. That's completely befuddling.
  18. I wonder how he felt about New England winning 18 games in a row then, or Green Bay's current streak of 19.
  19. Sorely needed both to return, thank goodness they are.
  20. weird how atlanta was playing a garbage [expletive] team and two long TD passes were the only reason they were losing to begin with
  21. Yeah, IU is getting in, barring a major disaster. They're going to go undefeated non-conference now, that's already 13 wins. Get Iowa twice, Penn St twice, Nebraska, Illinois in Bloomington, and now Minnesota and Purdue look pretty beatable. Get those first 5 conference wins then you're looking at winning 3 more conference games and a B1G tourney game away from a 22 win team. Notre Dame screams "let down game." I'm now pretty worried about that game. There is exceedingly little chance you lose to ND even sleepwalking. ND's best showing this year is probably their loss to a fairly bad Maryland team. The team is Scott Martin (who's not good) and a bunch of kids not ready for the roles they have to play. You'll be fine.
  22. Keith Jackson and Dickie V together? Pretty wild
  23. Hardly ever happens anymore. Hopefully this starts a trend.
  24. I don't understand why every court-storm is subject to review by the committee. This team has been crappy for the better part of 4 years (no 4-year student there has seen anything worth crap to this point) and they beat #1 in about the most thrilling way possible. Storm the court.
  25. He needs to hire a good defensive coordinator, but if he can do that there's no reason he can't do well at KU. His last ND team went 6-6 but scored at least 21 points in all their losses (which were all by 7 or less). With a competent defense he'll do fine. ETA: Truffle's not wrong about treating ND folks like crap (I've heard the same chatter), although if the stuff about Mangino is true it can't be any worse than him.
