  1. If you're actually watching me talk about ND, we have bigger problems at hand.
  2. Also, when the hell did Iona get into some 'wise guy' brackets? I didn't see anything impressive in their resume.
  3. I like the bracket as constructed. I don't see us being way off on anything unless the committee is weird like they were last year (and they probably are). I disagree on the B1G champ ousting Kansas as a 1 seed, but being outvoted is being outvoted.
  4. Speaking of seeding, where does FSU go if they beat UNC tomorrow? Those would be the best consecutive wins anyone had this year, not to mention would give them 2 wins each over UNC and Duke.
  5. That could be an interesting debate. If I've noticed anything in the last few years, though, it's that when a latecoming 1-seed contender appears, the committee tends to stick with what they know. ND v. Duke last year. West Virginia v. Duke the year before.
  6. Lunardi moved ND up from a 6 seed to a 5 after last night. This type of stuff is why our committee is so much better than he is.
  7. From the NCAA selection rules: - No more than one team from a conference may be seeded in the same grouping of four in line Nos. 1-4 and 13-16 in a region, unless a conference has four or more teams seeded in line Nos. 1-4. In line Nos. 5-12, two teams from the same conference may be placed in the same group of four. So, it can happen when there are four or more teams in a conference on the 1-4 line. Since UNC and Duke are the only ACC teams on the 1-4 line, they should be separated. The issue with switching NC State into the other first four game is that it's also the same region as UNC/Duke. Hmm. Perhaps switch the play-in game into another region? That's all I can think of. How about switching Duke and Ohio State in the bracket to account for the Duke/UNC issue? The two teams are adjacent on the S-Curve.
  8. UNC and Duke can be in the same region. They have been before, I forget when. But I remember picking a UNC/Duke Elite 8 matchup that didn't happen. Maybe 2007? We could just switch Drexel or USF with NC State to account for the NCST/IU rematch problem. No issue.
  9. I feel like there's some residual Pitino bitterness going on here. Could just be me.
  10. Purdue's floor at this point, I feel like, is a 9. Their ceiling would probably be a 6. Just total guesswork without any numbers in front of me though. I WILL HAVE ALL THE NUMBERS IN 90 MINUTES. AT LEAST, FOR WHOEVER SENDS THEM TO ME. Haha, I'm just tossing out guesses. My list is in as I'm sure you know. Actually, I don't have one from you yet today. I don't know what you're talking about. I totally remembered to send you that draft I saved eight hours ago...

  13. It's not supposed to be totally predictable to watch your team get waxed by a lower-seeded team you already beat, but that's what tonight was. Probably pushes Louisville past ND and makes us a 7.
  14. Nothing to play for. Locked into a top two overall seed regardless. Yeah, that is true. Still somewhat jarring. After dominating the league all year it would be a shame for them not to play in the title game.
  15. WTF is going on with Cuse? Down 14 to Cincy right now.
  16. 13 is a lot of losses, even if none were bad. I'm sure it's happened but I can't remember the last time an at-large got in with so many. The B1G is a very good conference this year, but if you're gonna be 8-10 in any league, you'd better have a bunch of good wins. NU only has one really good one (MSU). JMHO.
  17. I actually kinda like Xavier's resume more than St. Louis'. I don't get how St. Louis is being considered a lock or for a 9 seed. I like St. Louis's resume quite a bit, and did before I knew where they were seeded by the wiseguys (my main resource for this stuff is Glockner's Bubble Watch on SI.com, which doesn't give seeds but is a good place to find any bubble team's RPI/SOS/good wins/bad losses all in one link). I can't really explain why I like it, but they only have 2 losses to teams outside of our NCAA discussion, which is fewer than just about any of the other teams they're being compared with. Their resume is a lot like Northwestern's, except their non-con schedule exploits the RPI system better. Granted, their schedule somewhat games the system, but they pretty much clobbered the bad teams they played (which I like even though it probably doesn't matter). Both the bad losses I mentioned were by single digits on the road. I'm sure some will disagree, and that's fine - that's why we have a committee.
  18. The Colts also cut Addai, Dallas Clark, Gary Brackett, Melvin Bullitt and (finally) Curtis Painter.

  20. I don't think either's getting in as an at-large. On the bright side, among nearly identical resumes for UMass/St Bonnie/St Louis/Xavier/Dayton/La Salle, one of those teams is getting the auto bid, and doesn't need an at-large selection. St. Louis is pretty much a unanimous 'in' right now (Bracket Project puts them as a 9 seed). The others are pretty much up for grabs though. I think Xavier or Dayton could maybe play their way into an at-large with some help.
  21. I don't think either's getting in as an at-large.
  22. I could see one of Marquette/Georgetown dropping to a 4, but I feel like Wisconsin has to beat MSU to really make that likely.
  23. I'd trade Tennessee with Washington. I definitely think Seton Hall and Northwestern should be out. South Florida might not be safe anymore, either.
  24. I'd drop Washington from the locks (I for one, didn't account for their loss in my rankings yesterday) and into consideration.
  25. That was a basketball atrocity. Louisville might beat ND by 25 tomorrow.
