  1. Out of curiosity, what are prime years now considered to be? I've always heard they were 27-31 (or 32) for the majority of players and hadn't heard that they changed them. But now I keep hearing that Headley apparently is barely still in his prime years. When did that line of thinking change, and what are prime years now? Mid to late 20s, I believe. Anyone who's turned 30 is generally considered to be past the prime or at least about to finish it, I believe.
  2. I started the year in fantasy with both Freeman and Hosmer (I have since traded the latter though I wish I'd traded the former), so I can say from experience that you ain't missing much.
  3. I've grown so used to losing when I start game threads it completely blanked on me to start this one. Now I won't go down in history as the NSBBer to start Rizzo's first game thread. Sad.
  4. Anthony Rizzo seems like much too cool a name to worry about nicknames.
  5. TOWEL DRILL I'm kidding, that really really sucks for him. Hope he's alright.
  6. I hope Rizzo meant the goat and not the villain, otherwise he might be embarking on an unprecedented career indeed. http://www.midnightreview.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/heath-ledger-joker-dark-knight.jpg
  7. Go Cubs, don't get no-hit, please don't suck Travis Wood, everybody get ready for Rizzo, and other stuff.
  8. That was the Bob Howry give-it-up game too. Fun one.
  9. Best possible four-team playoff outcome if true IMO.
  10. My wife listening to Hawk call Konerko's homer: "He's annoying me already and I don't even give a [expletive]."
  11. RF presumably sees less action than LF and unlike at Wrigley, it's not harder to play than LF, so I'm good with putting the better fielders in left and center. I'm guessing it doesn't have anything to do with actual defensive ability. It's to get LaHair comfortable when Rizzo comes up. I'm good with that too. Better if LaHair does some hitting here soon.

  13. sports radio chatter today suggested that the ACC and Big East may be no more in a few years, as the 4 super-conferences take over everything They've been saying that for 2 years. Not that it's impossible (certainly seems more likely than it did then), but I'll still believe that kind of thing when I see it.
  14. Can't they just make it a top-four playoff? It really sucks that the ACC and the Big East are going to get a conference-champ affiliated playoff just because they know damn well their conferences are awful.

  16. Will we ever score again? Tune in today to find out!!!
  17. Not sure what kind of salary they'd command, but if either were crazy enough to take a 1-year deal, it might be worth a look.
  18. It's not even the worst in the NL Central. Does it really matter? Well, you brought it up...
  19. Hey, at least Koyie Hill is a great defensive catcher
  20. If the alternative is Mather, I can't disagree too vehemently.
  21. Yep, it was a fake rally. Good one Cobs
  22. Ugh, Stewart doesn't get to 3rd. You just know the next AB is a long flyout.
  23. Absolutely no reason not to pinch-hit DeJesus there. Stupid.
