  1. And Javy scratched too. It's a wonder whatever force keeps us from ever being happy fell asleep long enough for us to win the World Series.
  2. That's how I felt last year, but this is STL and they've had enough teams performing 10 miles above their heads for 10 lifetimes.
  3. First run on a Goldschmidt infield chopper because this team is apparently incapable of scoring in a way that isn't complete [expletive].
  4. I might be naive but I feel like he can get more than that. Maybe not a ton more, but more.
  5. This started with a stupid one-off joke that, had you spent any time at all on this board before going on your Nolan Gorman crusade, you would know was just a stupid one-off joke and not intended to be a dick-measuring contest about which city is more racist.
  6. 7 in the 9th and the Nats walk it off. It’s just not going to break our way this year. That's a ridiculous loss for the Mets but I find it hard to get too worked up about whether we have to face Scherzer in Chicago or Washington.
  7. You either weren't paying attention to July of 2018 or didn't pick up on what was happening. The Cubs intentionally lost for half a decade so they could shed bad contracts, pick in the top 3 in the draft and stock up on international signings and money. It got them a WS, so they did it right. Good for them. Saying the Cardinals 2 month reorganization last year is anything close to that is just stupid. They intentionally lost for 3 years, to be fair. 2010-11 was Hendry incompetence, unless your position is that trading Chris Archer for Matt Garza was a long-term move.
  8. STL scores 1 run and wins because they're not allowed to lose. Better keep pace.
  9. I know he almost certainly wouldn't sustain this over a full season and I know he's not a great defender but it's going to be a sad day if Nick signs somewhere else this off-season.
  10. His ex-wife’s Bennie and the Jets. They are still married and according to Zo himself they are kind of sort of trying to work things out Yeah, he said something about them being in 'a period of stability' since then. I didn't know that's what he meant, but obviously if he hasn't changed the song he's not done with her.
  11. We'll never have a healthy team again I guess.
  12. That's way more than semi interesting. Don't think we've heard an admission like that about anything before. Since I'm a complete Astros-are-somehow-cheating truther, I choose to believe Verlander wouldn't have done what he's doing there were he in Chicago, but man, if he could've.

  14. Underrated in the last 2 preseason polls, but whatever. Clunky game, largely played like ass, still beat a (likely bad, but still) Power 5 team on the road by 18. Nothing matters until the Georgia game.
  15. There's going to be more yammering about this Kelly jamoke on this board than about literally hundreds of productive players this season, isn't there?
  16. Well, I guess Oklahoma QBs are going to win the Heisman every year now
  17. It didn't fail at all, but intentionally losing 3 years for a competitive window that sure looks like it, charitably, lasted 4 years (I don't see any way these guys do much next year absent huge changes) wasn't quite the idea. At least 5 years. They suck but they are right in the playoff picture. Doesn’t mean it’s not an incredibly disappointing season but if you put the floor to be considered a successful season as making the playoffs they are being competitive in their competitive window. Any rebuild that leads to a championship is in my book successful. They bottomed out to build a championship team. Where we failed is in maintaining a contender. Any team that is successful for 5+ years needs to make good moves throughout to maintain the contender. So in my eye the rebuild was inarguably a complete success. It’s the post-rebuild moves that have been a failure. I miscounted and meant to include this year. Agreement on everything here.
  18. It didn't fail at all, but intentionally losing 3 years for a competitive window that sure looks like it, charitably, lasted 4 years (I don't see any way these guys do much next year absent huge changes) wasn't quite the idea.
  19. Don't bother putting up a fight either, you jackasses. I'm so glad it's football season now.
  20. Go celebrate your suddenly horsefeathering invincible 2019 pennant winners somewhere else and leave us in our misery, would you?
  21. Noted impact fielder Eric Thames
  22. I love that this horsefeathers who magically became good at hitting for a few years at like age 28 is all of a sudden good at it again. Rules don't apply to that horsefeathering franchise
  23. We're back to the days when all I had was to hope certain World Series matchups didn't happen, but since STL vs Houston looks like a mortal lock now that's gonna be a sad existence
  24. STL is scoring 3 more times in the 8th
  25. There's an infinity percent chance that stupid ass blooper by Gamel ends up in a run
