  2. Can't rebuild when you were never built I guess only programs with rapists and statues of rape enablers rebuild. Is it your position that Derwood (and Truffle) are not allowed to express any opinion about anything in college football for the rest of their lives without getting this crap lobbed at them? Because that was a complete non sequitur.
  3. Lester can't fall out of the playoff rotation if he pitches us out of the playoff hunt
  4. Almora just missed second base from medium-depth CF by about 25 feet on an attempt to double off the runner at 2B.
  5. My main concern with him is that he is way to buddy buddy with Rizzo and Lester. Would Ross take out Lester if he was clearly out of gas but a couple of outs shy of a win? Would he jump Rizzo's ass for getting thrown out easily trying to stretch a double into a triple? I don't think these concerns are without merit - and I'm not arguing for Ross as manager - but if he's to be believed in his book, he never had a problem 'jumping someone's ass' for screw-ups as a player, so I doubt he'd have a problem doing it as a manager.
  6. I haven't listened to much of Ross, but when I have, he's usually offering a player perspective rather than any particular strategy thoughts.
  7. Cam Newton is just done, and it makes me sad.
  8. I know it flies in the face of logic but I hope Milwaukee wins all those games. I want to maximize the shot at the division in the event this team gets their crap together, and also horsefeathers St. Louis in the ear
  9. I just went back through the thread from the Cubs getting Davis and I forgot how many people were at best lukewarm on that deal, although a lot of that came from health concerns that we were fortunate enough to largely avoid. TT made a comment about not liking to pay $10 million for a year of a closer with an injury question, which made me laugh and then despise the stupid Morrow signing of $10M/per for 2 years all over again.
  10. Darvish looking excellent again.
  11. Milwaukee wins, so for the moment this team does not hold a playoff spot.
  12. Nick Castellanos' swing there looked like one of a guy who's been a Cub for too long.
  13. Trading a surplus outfielder for a badass closer is what teams in contention windows do. It sucks that Soler went on to hit 40 HRs, but as has already been pointed out in this thread, that basically makes him a slightly better Schwarber. Put another way, it'd be super damn cool if we'd traded, like, Happ or whatever young guy you like for a badass closer rather than give a bunch of money to Morrow and Kimbrel right before they broke.
  14. If anyone can give me some info that Theo could've gotten Chapman without trading Gleyber, then I will begin shredding him for giving up Gleyber. Until then I can't and won't. I'm also not gonna fault him for the Soler/Davis trade. It made perfect sense to use a surplus guy with no everyday spot to get a shutdown closer for a whole year.
  15. I realize that I always assume the Brewers are winning the World Series, but how in the world are they not grabbing one of the wild cards or even the division? Everyone behind them is not a real threat, and the Cubs suck. Hell, the Nationals have a tough sked the rest of the way. The Cardinals sort of do, although they get seven against us. St. Louis is winning the pennant, and the only reason they might not win the title is because Houston's cheating asses are so good. It's the hellscape ending this stupid franchise deserves after last off-season.
  16. 6 outs away from the chance to potentially squander another STL loss
  17. I know this is your thing and I'm probably in the top handful of pessimistic people on the board but my God dude.
  18. LOL this is the most [expletive] inning in history.
  19. STL has probably won like a dozen games they trailed early in this stupid stretch they're in, as well.
  20. That's how Len said it and he's usually on the ball there. I think you're safe.
  21. Whoa, a SS making tough plays without firing the ball into the next zip code
  22. This team doesn't deserve Nick Castellanos
  23. This is basically a desperation move but what the hell, could be fun.
