  1. It's an extremely reasonable take. The Colts screwed up the Luck era a million times. Ironically they finally got a pretty decent team around him, but by then he'd been beset by injury.
  2. Well now we have to score at least 2
  3. It was extremely enjoyable and disgustingly awful football. A perfect welcome back to CFB.
  4. I was thinking more along the lines of "this team just isn't very good". They’re better than this. Rizzo is a gold glover, for one. They also won 5 in a row very recently and were worse than that. That's how this works.

  6. I don't know if this says more about me or the Cubs but my batting average in turning off a game knowing we aren't gonna win and then that game getting even worse is pretty damn close to 1.000 this year.
  7. And probably gave away their best chance to get one by benching Strasburg because he hypothetically might get hurt later
  8. Bryzzo have literally the most boring nicknames. I mean I get it with KB because he's vanilla and boring AF but you'd think Rizz would come up with something better. No one on our team has a cool nickname except El Mago, and really, when you have El Mago, I can understand the rest of the team not even bothering to try.
  9. Yep. If the revisionist history becomes "oh, well the Dodgers broke him" it's going to be annoying. This guy had giant, blood-red flags all over his career and Theo should've let someone else give him $20M to rehab for 2 years. It went full worst case in terms of health (possibly thanks to maddon ignoring usage orders) and he was still worth like 5.5 mil last year. It wasn't some disastrous signing. And the injury risk was baked into the modest cost. If he had no injury history, he would've cost a lot horsefeathering more. If you wanna be mad at some horsefeathers in hindsight, the Heyward deal is right there. I didn't hate the Heyward deal at the time, and neither did anyone else here as far as I know. I was skittish of the Morrow signing immediately, so this isn't about hindsight.
  10. I would argue that him having a history of getting injured every year he's been in the majors since 2009 is what killed him Yep. 11. Don't know about that. He's had some comments about statistics and stuff that the old school guys surely love. Plus he's white so the enthusiasm is perfectly ok with the old schoolers. He's half-Hispanic, although white-passing, I guess. (Cue the "Hispanic is not a race" flame war)
  12. That Javy single was pure karma. Dickerson with the cheesiest effort to draw a call I've seen in a while
  13. DFA this stupid [expletive] and kick Joe in the ass for letting this horsefeathers face a righty. horsefeathering Christ
  14. I don't understand why a guy who can strike people out so easily also gives up so damn many home runs
  15. artist rendition of the brandon morrow era: I have no idea who we might have used that $10M on, but I'm gonna be pissed about that signing probably forever.
  16. We're back for 2019! Two things to note for those playing the home game: - The ACC Network designation in past years was a syndicated group of local stations. In case you've missed the 8 million commercials for it, it's now a full-blown network available on most (but not all, yet) services. - For space/time reasons, I'll continue to limit the 'nationally available' listings to games you can get included with most cable/streaming subscriptions, so nothing there from ESPN+ (which costs extra). ESPN App (formerly listed as ESPN3) games will be listed. - All times Eastern, just because that's how they appear on the tickers. 17. Besides, this season from hell is clearly ending with STL lucking into another BS title, so LA is gonna go at least another year without one
  18. I'm totality I'd rather be us than the Dodgers too. It's hard to get to the Series at all, and if they do they probably have to beat a death machine Astros or Yankees team. Meanwhile we have 1 in hand and still the theoretical chance to get more soon. That doesn't mean the Ricketts and Theo haven't fucked this up since 16.
  19. I can't make another bench roster move in the HR Derby for like 3 more weeks because I just made one. RIP my team.
  20. I might need a few days break. Watching these horsefeathering gutless choking dogs find every horsefeathering possible way to lose games is really starting to wear on me. I've never come close to disliking a theoretical playoff team more in my life and I once rooted for a sub-.500 NFL division champion.
  21. It's real. They basically asked Benetti who he'd like to work with and he suggested Walton.
  22. So ridiculous how badly we are pissing away the best run of pitching Darvish is likely to have as a Cub
  23. Strop gave up a couple grounders that literally every guy who can play 2B on this team except Happ probably gets to. Hard time blaming him too much. Bote's error swung the game.
