  1. HAHAHAHA They just showed a glimpse of Randall Simon as a Cub on the intro :D
  2. Holy crap, the game's on here! :Parties:
  3. I'm back up to 4, with Ichiro, Ryan Howard and Giambi going the next few days.
  4. I'm not a huge fan of either, but I like the Beatles more.
  5. Game is at 7 pm CT on TNT.
  6. 3.93 ERA, 65/41 K/BB, 1.39 WHIP in 2004. If he returns to that form he'd be a nice addition - if he is still the Day of 2005 with a near-7.00 ERA and a WHIP above 2, well, we probably won't see him pitch for the Cubs. Not much of a gamble, so I like this move.
  7. I think Wood's gone unless he proves he can stay healthy once he is back and goes "Pedro in 1999" or similar on opposing hitters from May on.
  8. Hope not. Bulls in the playoffs trumps early season Cubs games so if he did I'd miss most of it.
  9. Way to convince him Berkman! There's one Astro that must not want him back that much
  10. Pierre Cedeno Walker Aramis Barrett Murton Jones Hairston Pitcher That's what the order should be everyday until Lee comes back (give or take resting a few guys every so often). Murton's struggling let him hit in the 6th spot for now. I like the lineup with Cedeno hitting 2nd. Too bad Ronny lost his ROY eligibility, Baker had him ride the pine too much last year... Didn't the fact that he broke his hand the last month, or so, while still in the ML affect it? I think, at one point he was playing consistently then he got injured and sat. They weren't going to demote him, at that point, but if they had he may have been able to save enough days for eligibility. Didn't you hear Harold Reynolds last night? Cedeno is a ROY candidate. Ah, ESPN. Always good for a laugh.
  11. I've heard nothing but good things about EPatt. At this point I'm almost as excited to see him on the big club as I am about Pie.
  12. Good post. I would also add the absurd Murton "out" call and the Pierre "check swing" from the Wrigley series to that list. I wonder if it's the same conventional wisdom that leads ESPN to excuse the purely and simply awful calls on Murt and Pierre as they did in the Wrigley series.
  13. Judging from this blurb posted earlier in the thread, I'd assume it went fine. At this point, as long as he is throwing pitches and not experiencing pain, I'll be happy.
  14. Because Hairston has a career full of productive hitting, and we can't have that on the team. Seconded.
  15. If this is true, I'm excited to see what this kid can do for us. I've been hearing about this kid for three friggin years - I am PSYCHED to see what he can do at the MLB level. I just hope that if he tears it up, they won't immediately ship him out for Doug Mientkewicz or some other scrub that can't help us near as good as a strong and healthy Guzman. I doubt it. Hendry has to keep an eye to the 2007 rotation with the possibility of, at least, 2/ 5 of this year's anticipated starters nolonger being with the club. The Cubs will need some quality arms. If Guzman pitches well I think he'll start for the Cubs next year. 2007: Wood Prior Maddux Zambrano Guzman  Substitute Marshall for Wood, and you'd have a nice rotation. I think JH may pass on Kerry after this season. No Wood on the Cubs would make me very sad. :? Haven't you gotten used to it during these last two years? Ok, cheap shot. I agree with you.
  16. Pot meet TLR. Indeed. Tony and hypocrisy go way back together. I can only imagine how he would've reacted had Maddux plunked Edmonds, knowing his past history with intentional HBP's. has maddux ever intentionally hit someone? or are u just talking about edmonds being Zs target? "His" meant LaRussa's referencing a book that came out last August (or August 2004, I can't remember). That's my fault, wasn't clear.
  17. I should have asked Dusty if he'd agree to a Q&A, huh? That would set a new record for "veiled criticism" questions...
  18. The DH is completely ridiculous. I couldn't ever root for an AL team strictly because of the DH. It's like arcade baseball.
  19. If this is true, I'm excited to see what this kid can do for us. I've been hearing about this kid for three friggin years - I am PSYCHED to see what he can do at the MLB level. 20. Gonna come back if the Astros don't make the playoffs? They play yet another bad team tomorrow in LA. It might be a while before they're far enough behind to be rid of him.
