    If Wood can accept a bullpen slot, then we could have an open closer competition in 2007 spring training with Dempster or, just make him the closer and have Demp set up.

    This year should prove to Cubs fans the folly of relying so heavily on pitching prospects who are good, but not can't miss ace guys. A lot of these guys have shown flashes and potential, but none of them have been ready to step up and contribute positively and consistently. As things stand right now, Prior and Zambrano are the only guys guaranteed to be in the rotation next season. I can't see this team re-signing Wood for the rotation, nor do I think Maddux will return. Lord help us all if Glendon is given another shot. That leaves three spots open. If Prior is traded, there will be four spots to fill. I don't think it would be wise to come into the season with at least two spots filled by rookie/young pitchers who are either unproven commodities (Gallagher, Wells) or who have only shown flashes at this point (Hill, Marshall, Marmol). That's a really dangerous proposition. This is why Jason Schmidt is a MUST for the Cubs this offseason. Isn't Jason Schmidt older and abused in the past...specifically by Dusty Baker? Although he'd probably require less years in a deal so stability would be nice. Schmidt was abused by Dusty. Unlike Wood and Prior, Schmidt's career wasn't basically ended. Figures. I could live with Schmidt for a two-year deal but I doubt he'd accept that short a contract.

    Although he has (for reasons I'll never figure out) apparently a basement-low trade value, I don't see Walker coming back next year and I don't think he wants to. Ship him out if you can get even a major leaguer back.

    Hardest pick of the tourney so far for me as I definitely enjoy both these groups immensely, but The Boss has to get a slight edge.

    Not a big fan of punk? I am a big fan of punk, but not the Ramones. They bore me. I give them credit for giving punk a kickstart by repopularizing the 2:30 rock song and showing that you don't need to play great to start a band, but other than that I don't think they offered much. The bands that actually imitated their songwriting are mostly pop-punk, and I HATE pop-punk. Pop-punk is my favorite kind of music... *runs away before the impending flame onslaught*

    Even though Bon Jovi is even worse than Nickelback in making all their songs sound the same, I still enjoy the music.

    I really want to like you, Scott, because you're probably our best reliever and you seem like a nice guy too, but you need to stop this crap NOW.

    I love Styx so I'm biased, but they're among the headline acts in any list of great 80s music (whether you consider that an oxymoron or not is your call).
