  1. I'm no big Stones fan but they're certainly good enough to beat the Lips.
  2. I'll be honest, I've never heard a song by the Crue, but I'm sure they wouldn't be better than Pink Floyd.
  3. Don't they need somebody to score points? Plenty of room on the sunny side of Chicago sports. I'm ready for football season already. I can get behind that...but I'm good with what the Bulls have done. I don't know much about it, but it seems rather obvious they are still a long way from being a stud team without somebody who can score. Wallace sounds like a better version of Chandler's defense only game. An upgrade certainly, but not a guy who will take an already great defensive team that was mediocre overall due to inability to score, into a great team. Are they just expecting to win every game 79-78 or do they think one of their young guys is going to take a huge leap this year? As Bill Simmons and many other NBA gurus will tell you, the 3rd year is when many guys start really hitting their stride. Kirk had easily his best year yet last season in his 3rd year, and four of our best players (Gordon, Duhon, Nocioni and Deng) are entering their third season this year. It's not a stretch to think that at least three of them will improve this season, two of them significantly. Have I mentioned that I'm stoked we didn't even have to give up Malik in the Tyson deal?
  4. When do the preseason polls usually come out?
  5. The latter scenario is much more likely. Smith will probably play a slightly more important version of the Eric Piatkowski role. I'm loving this team right now.
  6. Jim Leyland has kidnapped Ozzie and is keeping everyone believing he's managing the AL for appearance's sake. That's the only explanation.
  7. My alma mater fell one game short of getting a shot at Oden in the Indiana state finals this year, but they'd have fared no better than Muncie Central did.
  8. Brandon McCarthy, Josh Fields, Lance Broadway, Brian Anderson, Pablo Ozuna, and they also have to take either Pierre or Jones off our hands. Pablo Ozuna? WTF? You do know Ozuna is the White Sox version of Nefti Perez (slight better hitter, but still crap), so why in the world would the Cubs be interested in another light-hitting middle infielder? I'd take the first four names for both Eyre and Howry, but seeing as neither player enjoy their time on the Southside, and Hendry is hesitant on trading with the Sox, it doesn't look like it will happen. NSAvenger is correct. Just because the Sox Magic has made Ozuna a clutchtastic hitter, don't be fooled into thinking he's decent.
  9. I'm surprised he didn't use some sort of elaborate system to prove that this was the first time since Rodman that the Bulls brought in a marquee black guy to play for the team.
  10. and because of adrian beltre, he won't get near that kind of $. What's the Cubs deal he's signed to now? I don't think he has to get close to Beltre to exceed his current contract. He signed a 4/42 in April 2005 so he should have about 2/24 left on it.
  11. Guys on this team who are allowed to say anything that could be interpreted as a finger-point at somebody else: Derrek Lee (because he is the de facto captain and mainly because he would find a way to make it constructive) That's it. That's the list. Aramis is right, of course. But saying it in the press is a bad idea.
  12. I hope to make it to the 2007 NSBB bleacher day once one is organized in February.
  13. I can't imagine it being any worse than Sammy being in a Cubs uniform and getting booed. :?
  14. Be honest, you were chuckling to yourself when you wrote the last four words of that post.
  15. Given career stats I could probably give this a go.
  16. Oden and Ben are not the same player. You can play Ben at PF and Oden at C if it comes to that. But any talk of the Bulls getting Oden causes me to black out from temporary insanity over how good we'd be so I don't want to think about it now.
  17. Mizzou fans either hated Quin Snyder or thought he was a bad coach for the most part, but I see your point. Under two months now until Sept. 2nd :D
  18. Which only takes about 7 wins for ND, right? If you don't want threads to turn into ND vs Everyone, don't make posts like this one, people.
  19. PJ is a better Malik Allen. Ben is a MUCH better Tyson. Plus, we get our cap space right back next season if the Brown trade comes to fruition. If Pax doesn't win NBA Exec of the Year in 07...
  20. Sure. Murton, Williamson, Guzman, Wuertz, Walker and Hill. Boom.
  21. Guillen only selected Jenks and Buehrle. He selected Konerko as well. And he said Crede and Iguchi are 1st in line for injury replacements. The players voted on backup position players and were responsible for Konerko over Hafner.
  22. It has to be Liriano. Sorry the players are so stupid, Hafner. (They voted Konerko in)
