  1. Wood got suspended for "inciting the fans to throw trash on the field" when he got in an umpires face. LaTiolet got suspended for going after an umpire and needing 5 coaches to restrain him. Alou was never suspended. And if I was Barrett, after Ken Williams' comments, I'd have appealed, and then dropped it when the Tigers series started. Well he never did play against any other ALC team, so it turned out that way anyway
  2. There is one exception to this that I can think of and that's when teams used to do the Hack-A-Shaq and would just grab Shaq up until there were two minutes left in the half (when the foul became a shoot the free throws and get the ball back situation) to send him to the line. Shaq often had games where he would shoot 20+ FT's and occasionally had a game with 30+ FTA. He even had a game where he shot an unbelievable 39 FT's against Indiana in Game 2 of the 2000 NBA Finals. I'm not old enough to remember if they did this to Wilt as well but I believe they did IIRC. I believe that Wade broke Bob Petit's record for free throw attempts in an NBA Finals game.....so the numbers go back for a while Basketball-Reference It's the game on 2000-06-09. Wow....that I did not know......thanks.....quite the stat......for some reason I thought the announcers referred to Petit....I must have not been paying attention...thanks for the # I'm a Lakers fan. I remember the Hack-A-Shaq like it was yesterday and figured Shaq had a game of 25 FT's in the finals. I didn't know he had 39 though. That amazed me as well. Do you also remember Game 7 in 2002 against the Kings?? ;) One of these days, I am going to re-watch that game and just count the injustices that occurred. I believe that Game 6 was the one that was truly a joke in many people's eyes.

Ok, Sene at 16. And the Bulls won't trade Ben. I guarantee it.
  4. The fact that the NBA is an officating joke is no new information to us Bulls fans, who watched Sweetney and Hinrich combine for about 638,892 times getting hammered in the lane without a call this season and had numerous instances of the other team's best player shooting more FTs than the Bulls team.
  5. His nickname at ND is Shark, that's probably what I'll end up calling him.
  6. Kerry Wood is on the DL, and Mark Prior is in the baby steps of returning to form, if he does it at all. Oh, this is things you WOULDN'T have guessed? Umm...Rusch is still, as of now anyway, in the rotation.
  7. Well it took, what, 4 days for Riske to accomplish his mission of hitting someone?
  8. I'm gonna be honest, the fun conversation is the only reason I've been coming to NSBB lately.
  9. That's an enormously bold thing to say. I'm sure there is alot more that you and I don't know about as opposed to what we DO know about. I played organized baseball for 16 years and in that time, I saw fights occur over every possible thing imaginable. I've even seen a fight between a 1B and a 2B because the 1B thought that the 2b had thrown the ball too hard to him on a ground out. I have no problem with suspending Barrett, but 10 games is a ton. That's funny! (The 1st & 2nd basemen fighting). Reminds me of Major League 3 (lets not even start that debate) when the twin brothers played 2nd and Short. Was that "Back to the Minors"....or am I thinking of the 4th one? I wasn't aware there was a fourth one.
  10. What about a Game 6 on the road?

One scout described Tyrus as Swift with Ben Wallace's attitude. If that's the case I can warm up to him. Roy or Thomas please, no Morrison.
  12. O <--- circle of trust . <--- Greg
  13. He does only get the bonus if he plays baseball full time however.
  14. I'd just settle for the Cards being above average rather than world beaters, with the Cubs being really good.
  15. Quick, assemble every crappy veteran who's played under Baker since he became manager! We can assemble one heck of a roster!!! Cripes, the Cubs alone could field this: RF Troy O'Leary CF Tom Goodwin LF Jose Macias 3B Lenny Harris SS Neifi Perez 2B Damian Jackson 1B John Mabry C Henry Blanco Bench Enrique Wilson Bench Randall Simon Bench Jose Hernandez Bench Paul Bako Bench Todd Hollandsworth SP Glendon Rusch SP Shawn Estes SP SP SP CL LaTroy Hawkins RP Dave Veres RP Cliff Bartosh RP Mike Remlinger RP Mark Guthrie RP Antonio Alfonseca RP Jimmy Anderson We gotta call in the Giants' reserves to fill up those SP holes! Fassero could be moved into the rotation, since he started in SF last year. If you wanted to be blunt you could put Maddux in there too since he's been average at best since arriving.
  16. Good job, Dusty, you're playing 3 position players and a few pitchers off and on out of 25 players.

Draft Roy at No. 2, or I could also live with the rumored Ray Allen deal involving both picks and Sweetney. I don't have any strong opinion on the 16th pick.
  18. The point is, the contract is back loaded, so if Samardzija wants to get the big bucks he is going to have to concentrate on baseball, and you can probably postulate that he will get better at baseball the more he works at it, if that day comes.
  19. I want Freel to play 2B for the Cubs next year.
  20. What's this about killing Hafner?
  21. Crappy. Hey, I'm not even Fred and I know that
  22. Posting to make sure this isn't the shortest thread of the year.
  23. We tried to win the game dude but everyone was too offended by that HBO guy's language dude
  24. Andy
