  1. I'll sub for Fred today, though I have to work at 5 so it won't last the whole game (not that the game will be in question at that point).
  2. This is encouraging, even if nothing else about this situation is.
  3. Ohman's been on this team since late 2004, it's time to drop the "kid" gloves with him. Novoa is also in his 2nd full year on this team. Just shut the hell up and manage the team to a 58-104 record. Thanks, Dusty.
  4. Blow this whole thing up. I want pitchers who PITCH on this team. I don't blame Wood and Prior for being so injury-prone, but this team cannot afford to keep around this type of liability.
  5. I'm with RSF here. It's implied that most of us dislike the Sox, but CBB has been taking it to ludicrous levels the last month or so.
  6. I know Dusty is mainly responsible for Wood and Prior's 2003, but I can't help thinking that for any other team, even that kind of abuse's effects would've lasted a year, maybe a year and a half. Not basically career-ending.
  7. Two Rusch-related polls started within a couple of minutes of each other. Hilarity.
  8. I predict a scoreless first followed by 6 runs and the hook in the 2nd.
  9. This is ridiculous. RIDICULOUS. Lineups for today's massacre: Cubs: Pierre CF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Barrett C Jones RF Murton LF Cedeno SS Boobs McGee Brewers: Weeks 2B Cirillo 3B Jenkins RF Lee LF Fielder 1B Hall SS Miller C Clark CF Davis
  10. I have never attended an NFL game, as neither Carolina's visit to Indy in 2003 or their two games in Chicago last year had tickets available. I'm hoping to be able to get tickets for their game against Indy in 2007 in the event that it is back there (unlikely because the last two matchups between the teams have been there).
  11. I don't smoke pot, so Pantera gets my vote.
  12. U2 is probably underseeded here. I went with them.
  13. Ha, Ha Keyshawn a #2 that will actually make a difference. 50 Cyber Bucks says Nate Burleson has a better season and the Panthers miss the playoffs enitrely, thus proving without a doubt how [expletive] ESPN commentators are. Smith led the NFL in receiving yards, TDs, and receptions last year with Drew Carter/Keary Colbert at No. 2. Do you have any idea how huge a competent receiver is? If your Seahawks hadn't been able to quadruple-team Smith in the NFC title game and know that no one else could do anything, then Smith would've run wild just like he did against everyone else.
  14. It's been quite a ride, Kerry. Well, no, it hasn't. Goodbye and expect us all to be bitter when you miraculously heal up and throw 180-200 innings next season for another team.
  15. Gimme an NFL season. I can't wait to see Steve Smith in action when he actually has a No. 2 guy to go with him.
  16. Oddly enough, the ACC is the conference currently most likely to lose their BCS bid because of some bylaw about being in the top 12, because twice in the last four years, FSU has gotten a bid with eight wins or fewer.
  17. That would have been among the all-time saddest things to happen to Cleveland sports if LeBron had left.
  18. Nirvana will pose formidable opposition to anyone they face in this tourney.
  19. It Ain't Me babe. CCR all the way.
  20. Thats what I was thinking. Same here. Me 3. Sorry, Carniby.
  21. Explaining why he's sticking with Grudz over...Walker? Who was Grudz competing with? That's the one and he was referring to Walker after the Cubs had signed both prior to 2004. i thought this was during the 04 season when walker had been injured and grudz was hitting decent and walker had just came back from injury around that time (maybe im just piecing together different instances) In 2004 it was actually the reverse, Walker had played well and Grudz came back from injury. I do not know at what time of the year that quote was made.
  22. Weather? :sunny: Weather, whatever. Sunny if we win. KC won 11 out of 16. Another reason for hope. That's not a sign for hope. What good is 11/16 when you are still just 30-54? It's just a sign that any crap team can have short bursts of decent results, but they are still very likely to remain a crap team when all is said and done. I don't believe we have a crap team. What else can you call the 28th best team out of 30 in baseball, a team that has a much worse W-L percentage than a team with about an eighth of our payroll (Florida) and, if switched divisions with KC, would no doubt be 30th?
  23. Neifi cannot be called insignificant as long as he starts the majority of baseball games for the Cubs and bats 2nd in the majority of those starts. A guy on pace for 300 ABs cannot be called insignificant in any sense. The fact that Neifi plays (almost always over someone who could play better and usually without cause) and the fact that he hits in a prime position in the lineup that is meant for setting up opportunities for Lee, Aramis, Barrett, Jock, etc. makes him VERY significant.
  24. Isn't he the guy who wrote Cubs Nation? One of my favorite books, and yes. He's a good author, great storyteller, solid as a fan, not so much as a sportswriter.
  25. This would have been a great spot for sublime. No Derwood, I won't stop bitching about sublime not making it. Yes, I know, I missed Sublime. SUE ME On probation for booster-related violations
