Fassero could be moved into the rotation, since he started in SF last year. If you wanted to be blunt you could put Maddux in there too since he's been average at best since arriving.

    Draft Roy at No. 2, or I could also live with the rumored Ray Allen deal involving both picks and Sweetney. I don't have any strong opinion on the 16th pick.

    The point is, the contract is back loaded, so if Samardzija wants to get the big bucks he is going to have to concentrate on baseball, and you can probably postulate that he will get better at baseball the more he works at it, if that day comes.

    Wouldn't surprise me as Len and Bob have been trying to subtlely infer how terrible this team is without openly trashing them for weeks now. (Especially Bob.)

    August 31st is when football season officially begins (BSU) and I can stop caring.

    Yeah, for starters, I think he is the worst I've seen to go through an entire season. Rusch 2006 will blow that away. With Estes at least the Cubs scored runs for him and sometimes they won anyway. (Estes was .500 that year despite sucking)

    What about Bloom at Colorado? He made money of skiing, and couldn't play football. Also Zibby has a boxing agent. Bloom's issue was endorsement money. His argument was that he needed the endorsement money to ski (which was true). The NCAA wouldn't have any of it though. As to Zibby's boxing agent, I don't know how that is allowed.

    Signing an agent is forbidden, and making money off playing your college sport is forbidden (by signing with the Cubs he's now ineligible to play college baseball). But since it is a different sport he can play it professionally, also the reason Zbikowski can box. It's a joke of a rule, but it's a rule. Note: One of the underrated aspects of getting him is watching board members attempt to spell Samardzija. :)

    Prior: 3 1/3 innings, 7 ER Ex-Cub Garland: 8 IP, 0 ER, home run I think the Baseball Gods are collectively trying to drive us all to suicide. Wood and Prior are d-u-n done by the way, I'd be shocked if the two of them won more than 15 games together in their remaining Cubs careers.
