Dempster is having a crappy season, but I see no reason not to think that he deserves a chance to close for a team that can get him a save situation more than once a month, and for a manager that will pitch him more than once a week.

Those teams stink because they're in small markets and have no money... and because they've been terribly managed. The Cubs have the resources to be very successful, but they're incompetent in how they allocate these resources. Then, they keep around a moron like Dusty even though it's painfully obvious he should have been canned long ago. Not to mention that it's bad enough to try to follow this team through the computer. I really wouldn't want to waste the time commuting to and from Wrigley and spending money at the game to watch the Cubs lose 7-1. Oh, I agree in that I'm not wasting my money going to games to see them get stomped. However, I still don't see how the much ballyhooed boycott of the Cubs is going to help things. Getting competent management will help things not lowering team revenue. That would only give the Tribune company an excuse to lower payroll. I'm with CM here and am going to three more games this season, stupid a waste of money as it is, this is still my team. I'm not big on hating on the fact that we're one of the few fanbases in sports that doesn't run into a corner and hide when the team isn't good. -
Yes, we know White Sox fans have an anti-ESPN agenda, just like they have an anti-Jay Mariotti agenda, and an anti-Cubs agenda. Really, And I thought we were so Pro-ESPN and Pro-mariotti. And you always come off as so Pro-sox. Yes, but White Sox fans have some sort of anti-agenda that they make a priority to hate on these things. We don't. We may not like ESPN or Mariotti, but we don't complain every day about them like Sox fans do. But we (by we i mean you) do complain about the white sox and their fans every day. You remember we root for the CUBS here, right? Yes, I root for the Cubs, but I only complain about the Sox when fans bring it up. If you didn't bring them up, you'd see. Sign me up. That's so one-sided (in favor of the Bulls) that its not funny. Pax can pick a big at no. 2 (probably Aldridge) and take the best available at 9. Seconded, and Murphy is far from a big step back from Tyson as a big.

Don't forget the one that had Kerry on it and said "Do You Believe?" after the Cubs beat Atlanta in 2003 I thought it said "Wood You Believe?" :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: It was "Do you Believe?" because it was a regional cover. The other one had Pedro and the Red Sox with the same headline.

I wish ESPN would just tell it like it is. There are very few actual good managers, and there are plenty of average managers who have good players.

They ARE very good. But the sheer ways in which they win sometimes (Podsednik AND Dye Game 2 WS, Pierzynski Game 2 ALCS, Podsednik GS last weekend, Boston chokes Game 3 ALDS, Graffanino Game 2 ALDS) is enough to make one wonder.

I will always miss Chip and Steve, but Len and Bob have grown into the job nicely and even have somewhat of a chemistry now whereas through most of 2005 I don't think they had much of a rapport.
