  1. That's hilarious. Kobe best season comes at the age of 27, and still falls short of the seasons Jordan put up regularly from age 23 through 33, and now Kobe might be better than MJ? MJ never quit on his team, let alone in a game 7. SAS was seriously sucking up. SAS has been very outspoken about how he thinks Kobe ruined the Lakers by sending Shaq away, so to see him sucking up to him so hardcore pretty much erodes any hope of me having respect for the man.
  2. I would've been shocked at 2 XBH's and a walk for Theriot but I was already floored by the fact that he actually played, and batted SECOND too!
  3. No offense taken soccer10k, although I don't think the fact that Jones is playing well this year (and he is playing very well based on his career numbers) gives him any more license to yell back at hecklers than Neifi's play does. His strong effort this year does not change the fact that the team is terrible, and no one on this team, not even Lee, has the right to argue that point with any fan.
  4. It was a joke. If Thomas was maltreated in the hospital, and I have no way of knowing if he was, then he should be compensated.
  5. Yes, his OPS has helped the Cubs immensely this year. Especially over June and July when he carried the club. Without Walker the Cubs would have never made it to the playoffs in 2004 and 2005 and if they trade him they might finish with 105 losses instead of 100. You lost me here
  6. I'm really getting sick and tired of this team being unable to take the abuse for sucking. Get mad all you want about stuff being thrown onto the field, because that is completely uncalled for. But if a fan is telling you you're bad, and you're 20 games under, you really don't have much of a choice but to shut up and take it. Because let's face it. If you're 20 under, you DO suck.
  7. In place of anybody. Zambrano should be rested a bit here and there. Marshall and Marmol are going to go way past normal thresholds if they continue on this pace. Maddux serves no purpose to this organization other than a reminder that the Cubs are one of the worst teams in pro sports in getting the most out of players during their prime years, but all too happy to pay big money for past performance in declining players. Either trade him, or skip him a bit. And Prior could miss any number of starts without surprising people. =D> Agreed, one of the best sentences ever posted on here.
  8. Funny to think of Hendry signing someone incapable of catching the ball He only signs people who can catch the ball when it's not an important part of the package.
  9. This guy's an (expletive) idiot. We ain't paying this guy (expletive) - Williams
  10. My thoughts exactly. I think we'll see some trades and very soon. Could you imagine the joy on this board if Neifi was actually traded? Neifi was listed among possible infielders in this week's Sports Illustrated to be shipped out, but we all know better than to think Jim and Dusty would allow it.
  11. The Beatles may not win this whole thing, but they'll be going much further than this. I vote for them.
  12. Interesting, because reports indicated that Paxson wanted to go after Pryzbilla, but Reinsdorf indicated that he was willing to pay for Wallace. Btw, how many owners would love to have our GM and coach right now? I'm guessing somewhere between 20 and 29.
  13. Hahahaha, Woodward becomes the third opponent to be robbed of a home run by blind umpires who can't understand the concept of the basket this season.
  14. I think Walker might make less than Neifi. How sad is that? They both make 2.5 million but Neifi also has a 1 million signing bonus.
  15. This clinches it for me. Z is indestructible.
  16. Look out, folks, someone in the NATIONAL MEDIA has addressed the REAL problem with the Cubs! From this week's Sports Illustrated: Thank you, Verducci! Maybe people will start paying attention now...
  17. Dusty appreciates Neifi's play, so he must not play baseball poorly. Weak argument. Baseball has boundaries, rules, winners, losers. Therefore there has to be a correct way to do it. Art has no such limitations, it's value is not in winning, only in it's perception, which is completely up to the person who is exposed to it. Terrible analogy. I have to side with TT on this one. Music is one of the few things (movies are another) where it's quite simply impossible to find a certain example that everybody likes. Someone, somewhere, is going to hate every example, even if it's the Beatles or something equally impressive. In baseball, we can all look at Nomar's 2006 season and say "He is having a really friggin good year". But not everyone will look at (to pull out a current example) American Idiot and think it is a good album. Many might but not everyone will.
  18. November can't come fast enough. When do they release the schedule?
  19. The Cubs are back! :D *remembers how the season has gone* The Cubs are back... :x
  20. This is the worst trade I have seen in a long time, probably since Hundley for Grudzielanek/Karros.
  21. You mean mall punk? Don't call it punk plz. It's fine if you like that music, but real punk would scare most Greenday/Simple Plan/Blink 182 fans. I like all three of the bands you listed in that last part but to lump GD in with the other two much more poppish bands is nearly sacrilege.
  22. I've gotta ask the non-Idiot GD fans since I'm not one: What is so wrong with that album?
  23. I think Green Day is a tad underseeded considering they pretty much solely were responsible for people actually listening to punk again in the mid 90s, but they will lose to the #1 anyway. GD's the pick.
  24. I hate Aerosmith almost as much as DMB. I'm no Stripes fan but they get my vote.
  25. This guy speaks the truth. I'd have abstained completely but Billy Corgan is a Cubs fan so I figured I might as well give him a vote.
