Three non-conference opponents (all games that BSU was significantly shorthanded): 157 Ball State in those three games: 3 Oddly enough, in the MAC opener against BG that fell in between the first two games, BSU damn near won the game and would have if DE Cortlan Booker had not dropped a pass that Jacobs threw right at him. BSU ended up losing 40-31. This year though they start with 4 out of 5 at home, which has to be the first time in team history. (Only Purdue is on the road in that span.) If the Cards can upset IU in Muncie on Sept. 9th, there's no reason they can't be 5-1 after the first 6 (their 6th game is against Buffalo, ranked the worst team in the country by at least one system in preseason), which would be huge.

It really was amazing to watch this kid who I had literally never heard of before I woke up that day just come up and fire eight shutout innings in the big leagues. What a special moment.

How do you figure out? If we sweep and the Reds sweep, we'll still be 9 1/2 behind them in both the WC and division-of course then we'd only be 9 games out of the WC (with St. Louis then leading the WC because the Reds would be 1/2 game ahead in the division) http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/photo/david_koechner.jpg I need to stop saying things when they crop up in there... -
As long as Chad Henne is Michigan's quarterback, there is no way that the Wolverines will ever reach the top 10, at least not without being ranked there to start the year. I'm surprised USC is as low as they are, but otherwise no real surprises.

The Cards' win over Cincy today means that if the Cubs sweep this weekend, they will not be any more than 7 out no matter what the Reds do in Pittsburgh. Let's do it, Cubbies.

You can't call out one player because his name isn't on the back? Do you think the announcers will be confused when the SS makes an error but can't tell if it's Zambrano, Izturis or Lee? What I meant was....players could NO LONGER play for the name on the back of the jersey, but instead play for the name on the front of the player. I may not been as clear with my thoughts, but you definately didn't understand what I was trying to say, and I hope I made it clear. If players are going to play for themselves and not for the team, they will do so regardless of whether their name is on the back. The same is also true of selfless players.

If the Cubs sweep STL this weekend and Cincy loses at least 2 of 3 to Pittsburgh, the Cubs would be 7 games (or 6.5) out with a month and a half to play. I'm not saying. I'm just saying.
