  1. I would think this makes Kendry Morales a non tender candidate. If so, he just moved up quite a bit on my list of potential 1B. I'm afraid Fielder is going to get 200 mill now personally. and as long as it's not from the Brewers or Cards, we don't have to sign him to even win the division. it'd be nice and it IS what I want, but if the reports are true we want to go shorter term with him, we may get beat out by the Fish or Mariners.
  2. The Angels just took all of the press the Marlins had gotten and flushed it right down the toilet. Best pitcher and best hitter? WOW. As far as anyone mentioining Soler, I want him bigtime, but he,s 19, so don't expect him to come in and help the major league team for a few seasons. Plus, it's starting to look like he's going to be getting over 20 mill. Which is fine, but to give a minor league guy THIS much money, you better damn well be convinced he's going to be a superstar.
  3. I don't know whether or not we'll sign Prince or not, but if he leaves Milwaukee. our division just came back to the pack a TON. A couple of decent moves and we've got a VERY legit chance to win it.
  4. Yeah, i laughed when I saw Feldman as a guy they weren't willing to include. Arizona matches up much, much better with us.
  5. Is it 2019 when we can opt out of our TV deal?
  6. Hopefully we took this guy as part of SD's compensation. Can't imagine Boston wanting him.
  7. The Cubs will pick 4th, due to teams with full rosters. Only 19 teams will have the ability to make picks, for the same reason. I fully expect us to lose Flaherty, Rhee, and Marwin Gonzalez. Then lose more guys for the compensation stuff for Boston and San Diego.
  8. The Yankees definitely offered him more money.
  9. Yeah, but that's also why Parker and/or Skaggs can possibly be had right now. Bottom line is they are absolutely loaded pitching=wise in the minors. Got to be the best in all of MLB. No hitting whatsoever though.
  10. Dylan Hernandez just tweeted that Darvish is getting posted tomorrow. Things are definitely going to get interesting for us now.
  11. This isn't all that unrealistic for us to be involved this late. If we actually had offered a 5 year deal around 30 mill per, with maybe a 6th year option with a huge 15 to 20 mill buyout, adding an extra guaranteed year with the same buyout plan SHOULD have Pujols looking very hard at us right now. Because it'd basically be a 6 year 180 mill. With a 15 to 20 mill buyout. That would be tough for him to turn down if he's looking at 10 year offers for 220 mill or so.
  12. A realistic package from Arizona for JUST Garza would probably be one of Skaggs or Parker, one of Borchering or Davidson, and Corbin and Miley. A future top of the rotation guy, a corner infielder with power and plenty of holes in his swing but time to correct it, a possible mid rotation guy, and a probable back end of the rotation guy who probably already is what he is. Personally though, I'd try and send them Marshall or Byrd, hell both of them, if it meant we could get BOTH Skaggs and Parker.
  13. I thought about that too. My guess is they'd go ahead give Kuroda 12 or 13 mill and maybe even take a flyer on Beltran for 2/28 or so. Might not even be a bad idea, his market has not developed at all. Another way, one that probably fits Theo's vision more would be to sign Cespedes and Darvish. This would probably account for the entire payroll differential, especially with the posting fee accounted for in some way. The first option would allow them to go on a spending spree with Soler and some of the other unsigned IFA before the spending controls hit next July. My guess is it's one or the other of these two plans though.
  14. I hope he does. Takes them out on Fielder for sure. I don't know about that. Since the SEC starting looking into their books that rat bastard Jeff L. is starting to spend the money he's been skimming from MLB. [expletive] the "MIAMI" Marleens. I was basing it on only being able to sign a couple of Type A FA per offseason. They've got Reyes and Bell already. Seeing the new rules would help, but if they got Wilson, which seems unlikely now, I think that would have been it for them.
  15. At least with Hendry, we'd probably know the exact offer we've presented. And he'd be doing this one thing and one thing only, until there was resolution. He'd probably even have said as much in his interviews, which there would be plenty of. Stealth Mode is cool, but damn..........Throw us a bone, Theo. Please. No? OK, you're the man anyway and I've never been so confident in the direction this team is taking, even with just one move done.
  16. Sheppers, Olt and Profar would do. Profer and Perez would be even better. Perez, Olt, and Scheppers sounds more realistic though unfortunately. And if that's the case, I want to get Arizona in on this, because Skaggs and/or Parker would be great as a return.
  17. I hope he does. Takes them out on Fielder for sure.
  18. I have no problem at all if we get Fielder for 5/125. Big difference between him and when Howard was signed to the same deal.
  19. Diamondbacks just said they're willing to deal prospects for immediate help. This may be our best trade partner possible when it comes to Garza. Parker and Skaggs are both potential top of the rotation guys and they still have Bauer left. I wonder if they'd trade us Skaggs and Parker, maybe with either of Borchering or Davidson for Garza and Marshall? Or Garza and Byrd?
  20. I would, but he's pretty risky right now. They evidently want Marte and Lincoln from the Pirates, so what's comparable from us? Szczur and Dolis maybe? If so and his meds check out, I'd do it obviously.
  21. I think Stewart is a solid buy low guy. I don't care one bit about Colvin or Maine or DeWitt. But I wouldn't give up LeMahieu for Stewart straight up. On the other hand, even though Alvarez has struggled bigtime as well, I'd probably even add a decent guy to that list, if I had to. But I like Alvarez.
  22. What all names have been mentioned with Stewart? Colvin? LeMahieu? DeWitt? Maine? I wouldn't think twice about giving them all up for Alvarez.
  23. Ace also said he was told the Cubs prefer Morrison to Sanchez. Personally, I don't see Z as a trade piece for either, no matter how much cash we send, but I'd love to find a way to get Morrison here.
  24. There is the whole "Babe Ruth traded to the Yankees" thing at play here. Card fans are thinking about it, whether it's stupid or not. If Pujols became a Cub, the outcry alone would be worth a year or two of the probable horrid last years of his deal. How about the Card fan that posts all those video's on Youtube? His reaction would be absolutely phenomenal.
