  1. If we don't wind up with one of these two, I'll be disappointed. But, by no means will I question what Theo's doing. If he wants to build a different way, then I'm going sit patiently and watch how he does it instead.
  2. Why do we want both? I'm perfectly happy with Headley and I'm OK with Stewart. But, if we can get Headley and then decide we want to try and upgrade 2B as well, then I want more than a flyer type. I just figure that 3 mill or so could be better allocated, I guess.
  3. Everyone knows Theo's top priority this offseason is to find Zambrano his elusive Black Guy.
  4. We're also looking for guys who can "catch the ball". The difference though is our guys aren't watching Web Gems to decide who can do this. A welcome change, at least.
  5. Levine's latest blog has the Pads interested in bullpen help for Headley. Including Russell. Really? If Jeff Russell is the centerpiece of a deal that can land Headley, it needs to be done ASAP. Also said Rockies like Colvin. I read somewhere else Rockies like LeMahieu and Maine for Stewart. I'll be honest and admit I'd be very hesitant to trade DJ for him. Bottom line though is if these are the type packages required, we'll walk away with one of them, is my guess.
  6. And Rizzo says its BS. No 6 year offer from Nats.
  7. The 6 year deal is evidently from the Nats. Considering what they gave Werth last year, it's probably time to kiss this dream goodbye.
  8. That'd be awesome. Payroll would be 160ish, even if we backloaded those contracts somewhat. I guess if we could unload Soriano and save 4 or 5 mill a year and Marmol, we could do that for under 150ish. With the restraints on amateur spending, I guess this possible at least.
  9. Part of me wonders if they HAVE to take another meeting, because we DID make a 5 year offer and it has him on the verge of becoming a Cub.
  10. Logan Morrison tweeted a little while ago, to clear up the confusion, he's playing SS for the Marlins next season.
  11. Capps back to the Twins. One year with an option.
  12. There's a guy named Marlin that's been right about quite a few things in the past. If I'm not mistaken, he called the Hayden Simpson pick long before he was ever heard of. I think he called Baez well before anyone else as well. I can't remember what trades or signings he's gotten right as well, but I'm pretty sure he has some of them as well. That said, it's not him talking about this Pujols offer, it's another guy. He's been around there a long time, has a ton of posts, but I'm not sure he's got a legit source. I think it's RammyFanny who actually posts over there as well, if he sees this, maybe he can shed some light on these guys. But, I do know the Marlin has legitimately broke news before.
  13. Harang's deal looks to be 2 years and 12 mill. They're also on the verge of signing Hairston for 2 years and 6 mill.
  14. Would Theo be screwing with everyone? I'd say that's possible. It's certainly possible to talk about more than one guy, when in front of an agent at least. By the way, if we bring Lopez back, then great, we have our 9th starter. A poster on PSD, who has a ton of posts said he heard the Cubs offer to Pujols is along the lines of 5 years and 29-33 mill per, with a 6th year option that has a 15-20 mill buyout. No idea if this is true or not obviously, but an offer like that would HAVE to get his attention.
  15. Olney says Brewers are indicating they're out on Prince. Personally, I'm starting to think he's staying there myself.
  16. CJ supposedly has a 6 year offer on the table from someone. Didn't see that mentioned yet.
  17. Vickie Santo said she'll probably give his induction.
  18. Every baseball writer that's tweeted about this has said it's a year too late. Ronny's still smiling about it though. I hope Pat does his induction as well.
  19. Awesome news. I just wish he were still around to see it.
  20. I can't see that because I figure the Pads would want us to pick up some of his contract. And while we'll need to pick up some cash on some others' deals if we were to trade them, Marmol certainly isn't one of those guys. If he's dealt, my guess is it's to a big market team.
  21. Santana would be awesome. He probably deserves his own thread. That deal doesn't make lots of sense for the Angels though, they just traded for Ianetta. I'm sure they think they're set at catcher now. On the other hand, I'd send Marmol and more to them for Santana.
  22. Marmol for Conger is what I'm hoping for.
  23. Bowden says Boras has meetings scheduled with teams rumored to be "in" on Fielder. Teams may be Nats, Mariners, Brewers, Blue Jays, and Cubs.
  24. Maybe something like McNutt for Headley straight up. Or Vitters and Ha. Maybe Lake and Struck.
  25. If we're going to add a big ticket guy this offseason, a hitter is my priority. There won't be anyone like Pujols or Fielder available next offseason. Pitching will have Cain, Danks, Greinke, Hamels, Liriano, Marcum, McCarthy, and Sanchez. Not all will make it to FA, but some will and that's enough for me to think Pujols or Fielder is much more important for us this offseason, even though pitching seems like the bigger need. Hell, I could see us adding one of this pitching group at the deadline even.
