  1. Or maybe, instead of something trivial like a 5 game stretch of play, there's something about Trammel that we don't know that's removed him from contention.
  2. Is there any reason why people are so high on Trammel? I know nothing about him other than the fact that he looks like a good guy.
  3. is he that far off? http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.aspx?pos=ss&stats=fld&lg=al&qual=1200&type=1&season=2010&month=11 Looks like his UZR has improved immensely over the last 2 seasons.
  4. How does it work when you're first offered? If all they have are terrace reserved, can I buy them and potentially get better seats the next season? Or would I be locked-into those seats. Are all seats except bleachers and CBOE seats available for seasons?
  5. I went from 6900 at the beginning of the year to 4100 now. Nice!
  6. FWIW, the Cubs are 28th in Defensive Efficiency this season. In 2007, they were 1st. In 2008, they were 2nd. In 2009, they were 5th. Is our pitching staff giving up enough line drives to make that significant of a difference?
  7. Lost: Utah Gained: Boise St., Fresno St., Nevada Utah and Boise St. are pretty much a wash (and arguably a downgrade -- will depend on how BSU does without its cupcake WAC schedule). I'm not so sure if Fresno St. and Nevada make it a BCS conference...
  8. Is it really that ballsy by BYU? Am I missing something? The MWC wasn't going to get a BCS auto-bid with Utah getting replaced by Boise St., and they were sharing their bowl revenue with the rest of the conference (when few teams make bowls). At the very least, they get to keep the money from the bowl they will inevitably make. Their TV network is a sunk cost, as they've already invested in it. A large amount of Mormon households nationwide will no subscribe to it, and any additional BYU network revenue generated as a result of this transition is icing on the cake. They can still work out deals with ESPN that will be lucrative. I think they're going to have to make their schedule more difficult than "4 WAC teams" to get legit BCS attention, but I don't think the move was a bad one.
  9. It's not better than Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas. Not even close. You couldn't pay me enough to live in Texas during the heat of the summer. Granted StL gets awfully hot too, but Texas is just stifling. When you're playing baseball with the roof closed on a typical summer afternoon, it's a problem. It's not that much hotter (~7-8 degrees on average) but I think StL is a lot more humid. They play with the roof closed because they have one to close.
  10. According to MLBTR, Lee probably would have ended up as a Type B free agent, which would have netted the Cubs a pick in the supplemental first round had they offered him arbitration. I'm expecting something along the lines of the Lilly/Theriot trade sans DeWitt. Would they have offered arby? If they really didn't want him back and he really wanted to stay...

  12. Joey Votto already said he hates the Cubs. really I guess he backtracked on the organization, but still hates the fans. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/07/reds-votto-wont-sign-for-cubs-fans.html

  14. I remember Hakeem trying that and needed an IV at halftime. I mean wow
  15. Yeah straight bar (olympic style) is a LOT harder than a hex bar.
  16. Bears signed WR Zeke Markshausen. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/news/story?id=5447790 Probably too small to make much of a difference, but he sure can run a route.
  17. Starlin Castro.
  18. I think guest conductors was a fun idea, but the problem is they've strayed from actual good/relevant celebrities and began to pick flavors of the month. Mike Ditka? Yes. Kellie Pickler? No.
  19. For this year, yes. For the future, that remains to be seen. I do recall reading that when the surgery was performed the damage wasn't as bad as first feared. I think the Cubs need to operate under the assumption that he's done and if he can return it's a nice bonus.I seem to remember hearing that it was career threatening or career ending. Guess I was wrong.
  20. It's great to sing when we win (and everyone is 6 beers deep) and annoys opposing fans to no end. I say keep it.
  21. Haha I love Everybody Love the Cubs
  22. [expletive] you Hendry Umm, he's a 10 and 5 guy dude. He could block regardless of Hendry's doings.
