  1. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5194333 I think the Bulls are doing this because they like to have control over their coaches and they want to hire another potential whipping boy in case things go south. This is of course stupid as hell. If you have a chance to acquire a once in a generation player in the early part of his prime, you pull out all the stops to get him. If he asks to have John Paxson tied up to the Jordan statue and get tarred and feathered and left up there for 48 hours, you have to do it. I'd hire Cal on the 25% chance that this rumor is legit. I certainly don't want to piss off the apparent power of WWW and co. by ignoring their plan that they've apparently spoken directly to the Bulls about. But who knows, we obviously only get to hear little bits a pieces about what's happening, so it's possible it's being made into a bigger deal than it is or whatever, or they could be trying to downplay everything so the media isn't on top of every development.. Just don't want to see the Bulls blow this like they do everything else. I thought this was interesting: If true, then I want no part of Cal. He's not some ungodly coach.
  2. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/peter_king/05/16/ranking/index.html lol
  3. Charley Oakley weighs-in, saying it's Chicago or Miami for LBJ: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/basketball/2010/05/15/2010-05-15_oakley_feels_its_23_skidoo.html?r=sports%2Fbasketball&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+nydnrss%2Fsports%2Fbasketball+%28Sports%2FBasketball%29
  4. Don't get all of the Len love. I mean, I think he's a smart guy (really like how he's into sabermetrics) but he's not some "one of the best" announcers, imo. He has a really annoying voice and his homerun calls suck.
  5. That's actually awesome ...but it's not gonna work
  6. Lol there's one relevant quote about Obama and Lebron, and it's not even from Obama. Kind of a stupid article.
  7. The bold text is completely false. You had a few people here gung-ho for Lou, but most were vehemently opposed against hiring him even when it was just being suggested before Dusty was actually gone. When Lou was got hired the general consensus beyond those fanatical few was basically "at least he's not Joe Girardi/it could be worst" in terms of being positive. Really? I guess I wasn't quite here then, but I find this kind of hard to believe. Who else did people want? If I recall Bobby Valentine was at the top of many people's wish lists. I believe there was some talk about Fredi Gonzalez as well, but I may be confusing that with the previous search when Dusty Baker was eventually hired.Fredi Gonzalez was a front-runner. And Vance was praying for Dierker. Most people (including myself) thought Lou would be too "old school" with regard to his baseball philosophies.
  8. Haha depending on where you apply to college those are extremely important!
  9. Yeah most of his trades have been pretty awesome (Pierre trade stands out as the one really bad one) but his free agent signings have been mostly dog [expletive]
  10. There's a reason NY's football teams thrive when located nowhere near public transit while the baseball teams are surrounded by trains. Fans will drive anywhere 8 Sundays a year. Not so for 81 days a summer. The only non-Wrigley option is suburban, and suburban baseball does not sell east of LA. And even in LA fans arrive late and leave early ...because it's hard/annoying to get to!
  11. LMAO =D>
  12. Wow, I didnt realise that Heyward was ligting it up like that. I guess its because he plays in Atlanta. Hell, there are still people who dont know who the hell Chipper Jones is. Same goes for Minnesota. Everyone knows Mauer by now, but they have a lot of other guys who are not well known due to the small market. Justin Morneau, for instance is fairly well known, but put him on the Cubs, Yankees, Mets etc and hed be a household name. I guess we should just be glad Heyward isnt a Cardinal. And yet, Aramis is rarely mentioned when discussing the best 3Bs in the league.... (and yes, I know he looks like crap this year but still)
  13. Apparently that doesn't matter for statutory rape though....it matter what age she is...not what she said she is. I think LT only gets off w/ a solicitation charge. Sounds like he didn't beat her. Doesn't sound like he forced her to do anything. I think because he did hire a hooker, he should reasonably expect that the girl was over 18. I think it all falls back onto the pimp for putting a girl under 18 in that situation. Kind of like if you have sex w/ a girl you meet at a 21-and over nightclub. If she is really 16, then I don't think the guy is responsible because he had reason to believe she was over 21. If not, that is on the club for letting her in without proper ID. I actually had a friend who served jury duty for a statutory rape case. The prosecution couldn't prove that the guy knew the girl was underage, so he got a not-guilty verdict. Apparently, if she says she's of age and it's reasonable to assume that she's of age, then it's not statutory. All of this, of course, assumes consent was given.
  14. Cal negotiating a raise according to espn. Could be a negotiating tactic on his part.
  15. Wootton is a beast.
  16. Really? Even if the team sucks next year it'd be pretty cool to see a football game live at wrigley.
  17. I thought it was Iowa? Nope, they decided on Illinois. Full beer sales too, which should be fun. Student sections in the bleachers with the field running NW to SE. Teams will share one sideline.
  18. It's going to be tough for illinois fans to get tickets, I think. From what I've heard, they get 3,000 tickets, the Cubs get 5,000, and NU gets 30,000. You can't buy NU's tickets without seasons. There was also something about Stubhub but I had to get back to work! Anyone catch that?
  19. I can't believe you are trying to downplay the player who once played a conference finals game in the Benny the Bull costume just because he was bored. And he still scored 47 points and the Bulls won by 12 despite Pippen and Harper both missing the game with typhoid fever. ?
  20. Lebron's immaturity is evident every time he makes a big shot. He runs and jumps around like a little girl. The only time MJ did anything close to that was "The Shot" and the look on his face was bad to the bone. Like he expected it to happen. Kobe is the same way. When LBJ hits a big shot, he looks surprised. Which, granted, he probably is.
  21. Aramis isn't going to be this bad. (I hope)
  22. Barkley's been very pro-Bulls this series. I don't get what you're saying. At halftime he said (of the Bulls' lead): "It don't matter. Dey gonna lose."
  23. I was just talking to a friend and making fun of people who would make such a kneejerk reaction. This is [expletive] pathetic.
  24. STHU Jordan Bulls fan. Who also follows teams that have the longest NHL and MLB championship drought and a football team that has won 1 championship (25 years ago) in the last 47 years. what really jumps out at me are the marlins' faces when they were celebrating the nl championship on our home field. that's a [expletive] kick in the nuts. something inside me broke that day and i realized sports just aren't fair at all. Specifically Juan Pierre sprinting in from Center with the "WHOOOO" face. Thanks for reminding me.
