  1. Who said far past? You people are ridiculous. I never said he was done or should be retired. I said it was a lot of money for an old backup RB. He is an old backup RB. I didn't say he's worthless. I said he's an old backup RB, and is an old backup RB. I also said he's a nice complementary back for Forte and that I like that they are going away from the one back situation. But there is a significant difference between 25 and 31 in the world of professional sports. It's not enough to make all 31 year olds obsolete, but there isn't a physically demanding sport where being 31 instead of 25 isn't meaningful. I think the issue is that you're implying that "an old backup RB is an old backup RB." Would you prefer that I imply than an old backup RB is a young porn star? You can imply whatever you want, but saying a blanket statement like "that's a lot for an old backup RB" is a little bit misguided. Not all 31 year old RBs are in the same playing condition.

  3. Also they were at a bar singing "Bear Down, Chicago Bears." (j/k, I expect these deals to get done). Nono, they were signing "Bear Down" on footballs at the hotel bar. But they were really drunk.
  4. Northwestern just set its program all-time season wins record with 19. I know we're not going to make the dance outside of winning the BTT, but I'm proud of this group and excited to see what they can do next year.
  5. Is salary included in the dicsussion? Carmody is getting paid.
  6. Fontel Mines was cut? Nooooooooooooo!
  7. We are playing to(o) lo(o)se.
  8. WTF... looking awful on the powerplays
  9. that's what i'm trying to figure out. the article (and lee's quotes) make it sound like some people are afraid byrd might be like bradley because of race, which is absurd. ui haven't seen a single person think that way. I think the usage of the word "compare" has confused you. People are actually contrasting the two. What Lee is implying is that if Byrd were white, there wouldn't be any discussion of his personality vs. Bradley's. i'm fully aware of what lee was implying. Okay, your past posts didn't make it seem like you were. Lee wasn't saying some people are afraid Byrd might be like Bradley because of race -- he was saying that the whole "Byrd's personality vs. Bradley's personality" discussion took place because of race.

  11. Are people really comparing Byrd to Bradley because they're both black, or because he's the new guy in the outfield?
  12. I really haven't noticed much of anything to indicate that Soriano is half-assing it in the field. Certainly not to the degree that you're claiming. Whatever, he's the new Ramirez (labeled as "lazy" though all evidence is to the contrary) I guess so I should just let it go. I don't think he's lazy, but he's a very poor fielder. He makes up for it somewhat with his arm though. He's an adequate fielder who makes some extraordinarily bad (and memorable) plays. Adequate fielders don't make extraordinarily bad (and memorable) plays. They make adequate plays. ?
  13. What the hell do bermuda shorts have to do with anything? She's been wearing that crap for a long time and obviously would not have been allowed on air if it violated dress codes. Women in the professional world where that style of clothing all the time. If you believe that to true, this is just a stand still. I still believe that she is not dressing professionally. I believe that ESPN has a double standard in dress code. If that is the case they should not be upset when someone like KT comments about it. Regardless of your conservative definition of dressing professionally, commenting on clothing is a direct breach of sexual harrassment policies. You mean the double standard and sexist sexual harassment policies. If someone looks like crap male or female they look like crap and saying they look like crap isn't sexual harassment. If a guy were to walk in not wearing a suit he would be told to put a suit on. If a woman wears a short skirt and knee high boots the same should be done. Neither or sexual harassment. They are people not dressing appropriately for their job. I think you're missing the point. It's not sexual harassment because he said she looks like crap -- it's sexual harassment because of the comments he made about the "way" she dresses, implying that it was too sexy for her age. He didn't just say "her clothes are not work appropriate" as you suggest. There is a double-standard, but that's in part because a lot of guys just don't care. If some female SVP in my company publicly announced that my pants were "way too tight," for example, (and they were appropriate for work), it could be construed as harassment.
  14. FWIW (and realize it's not worth much in terms of his playing ability) he's actually a really nice guy.
  15. Not the one from 1955, no. I work in Manhattan, I see women in that style of clothing all the time. Okok, maybe in marketing or PR. :D That's not the point I was trying to make. You can't make comments about a woman's skirt being too short or her top being too tight. And definitely not because she is "too old" to wear clothes like that. And certainly not using the phrase "sausage casing." In any business situation, that can be construed as sexual harassment, and that's probably why he was suspended.
  16. There was some article a while back where she said she picks out her clothes... can't remember where it was. Someone had interviewed her about her style. Still, at any other employer, that's sexual harassment -- whether his comments were accurate (I think they were, despite Storm being a fox) or otherwise. If one of the male anchors came out wearing bermuda shorts while another was wearing business attire and KT criticized him, what would that be? A completely different situation. She wasn't dressed any differently than thousands of women in the business world dress everyday. And it's a freaking sports highlight show, not meet the press. Haha I take it you don't work in the business world...

  18. The article says his knee was surgically repaired - not sure how that compares to "major knee reconstruction," but it definitely doesn't sound like a scope (which I believe takes hardly a week or two to return from). It was a scope. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/ct-spt-0223-cubs-soriano-chicago--20100222,0,2521191.story Thanks. Wonder what confused me . . . isn't there some very minor procedure done with a scope, perhaps just an exploratory procedure? It's an outpatient procedure where they put a camera inside your knee to check it out. They can then do some minor procedures, like remove loose cartilage or bone fragments. I'm assuming it can vary in severity, but I don't think it would keep him out 5 months. I'm with those who think he's just saving it for ST.

  20. I'd pay to see the Birdman in the dunk contest. I just think it'd be fun to watch
  21. I gave in and paid ~$150 for 2 home opener bleacher tix. Going to that game is a tradition and the Cubs own me in that regard. Sucks. I'm still going to have a blast though!
  22. There was just no way Hester was going to have a long career of being a dynamic kick returner. Turning him into a receiver was the right decision. Who said anything about long career? When you have a player who has a certain skill, milk that skill as long as you can! Instead, we tried to mold him into something he's not great at, and paid him handsomely for it.
  23. Stallworth released. Hmm...
  24. I love the Rams one where he high-steps from like... the 20. ... watching that video almost pisses me off. We took the one of the most dynamic players in the history of the NFL and turned him into a half-decent slot receiver.
  25. If we keep that up, we'll be dancing. Even if you guys fall to Wisconsin, I have a hard time seeing Northwestern missing the tournament if they can beat everybody else on their remaining schedule. I don't even think we have to necessarily beat Minnesota either. Assuming we lose to Minny and Wisconsin but beat everyone else, we'd finish 22-9 overall and 10-8 in the Big10. That should be enough. But let's not get ahead of ourselves here :-)
