  1. Espn reporting that it happened at 2am but wasn't reported until 2pm the next day. That doesn't sound normal...
  2. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9C82T6G0&show_article=1 Yeah, Drudge just made it up because he hates minorities.
  3. That's not the point.
  4. A-B was probably mad that the guy sold the ad rights to Horseshoe, I wonder if this has anything to do with the Cubs organization's relationship with A-B.
  5. I think Seidman is crazy to call Byrd a 4th OF. While we would all love to see Granderson on the Cubs, I don't think Byrd is a bad option. Of course, you would have to factor in the cost (in prospects) of getting Granderson with the cost (in dollars and years) to get Byrd. 2007-2009: Byrd - .295/.352/.468/.820 Granderson - .277/.350/.499/.849 Looking at those numbers, there aren't many teams that wouldn't love to have Byrd's numbers for their CF. I think it's a tough decision if you're talking 3-4 players from Marmol, Vitters, Castro, Casner, Jackson, etc. for Granderson as opposed to $16 - $18 million over 2 years for Byrd. Did you read what Seidman said before calling him crazy? Yes, those numbers would look great in CF. The point is, you're not going to get those numbers from Byrd when he's not playing half his games in Arlington. Granderson, on the other hand, would be more likely to put up better numbers because he wouldn't be playing 81 at Comerica.
  6. I love how Markshausen, an undersized, former walk-on from UW-Plattville beat out a bunch of guys who were top HS recruits to make the all-conference second team. Good for him!
  7. I'd love Jenks, but I really don't think Fox would be enough.
  8. How can you not like Mizzou's unis? They're badass.
  9. Can't wait for my "The Doc Is In!" sign on opening day!
  10. You mean you didn't like "YES SIR! RING IT UP!"?
  11. Am I the only one who can't stand listening to Funk and King all night long? They seem so unprofessional. I liked Funk on the radio, but he kills me on TV.
  12. I really don't care about Ryan that much, but that really REALLY sucks about Nash.
  13. ... if he's out for the season, could he use next year as his 4th year of eligibility? I'm not saying that'd be a good thing, but it'd be cool to see Crawford, Cobb, and Coble on the same court.
  14. i'd say mixed, for me. i don't have anything against Orton and i wish him the best, but there is definitely a part of me that feels...glad (maybe not the right word) to see him struggle a little. partially because i'm bitter about the Bears and partly because i don't want to hear people prop up Orton as some sort of mythical "winner" who just wins no matter what while Cutler gets the whole "he's not a winner" rap. if the Bears had Orton instead of Cutler at QB this year they'd probably have two wins. Sums up my thoughts exactly.
  15. I'd agree with you but look at how much better they are when he's healthy. It can't fully be a coincidence, can it? Without Polamalu they went 2-2. Their 2 losses were both on the road and by 3 points each. I don't think it's as huge a difference as you think.
  16. I'm finding it difficult to believe that 11 years after Jordan left Chicago, a superstar player would still be playing in Jordan's shadow. I'm sure there would be comparisons, but who really cares? LeBron doesn't strike me as the kind of player that would avoid something out of fear. That said, I can't imagine him coming to Chicago. I just feel like if I were LeBron, I'd want to play somewhere where I could make my own legacy. He's already been compared to Jordan a lot as it is and I don't really think he can create his own legacy here in the same way he could in a "non-Jordan" city. It's not really "fear" as much as it is being his own man. (Barring something amazing like... him developing a deadly jumpshot and leading the bulls to 7 titles) no matter what he would do in Chicago, he would still be second-fiddle to MJ. I don't think he wants that.
  17. I don't think he would come to Chicago and play in Jordan's shadow. He would also have to change his number. Not exactly sure that's what he's looking for.
  18. Oh they have a great chance to win with Stanzi in. I'm not debating that. I just think we're viewing this from different perspectives. I don't think it was entirely a freak accident because injuries happen to quarterbacks when they're hit. It was a PA boot that left Stanzi wide open with a defender waiting to clobber him. I don't know -- maybe it's semantics. I just think that when you leave a QB coming out of a PA with a quick DE charging at him, the chance for injury goes up dramatically. And I think we all can agree that as a QBs sacks increase, so does his chance for injury. Just as Iowa re-injured Kafka and later messed up Persa's hand on a sack). What if the sack caused an unreported injury to Stanzi's ribs, rendering him less-effective? If Iowa had still lost under that scenario, I'm sure no one would be saying "we would've won if Stanzi hadn't been sacked." That's almost (almost) akin to saying "we would've won if the defense hadn't been so tired." It was not as if Iowa entered the game with an injured Stanzi; rather, his team's on-the-field-actions led to his injury. Because of his teammates' miscues, he was sacked, injured, and out of the game, which helped lead to a defeat. There are a lot of miscues that can lead to a team's defeat -- this particular miscue just had bigger ramifications because it involved a defenseless quarterback getting hit (like most mistakes that happen on the offensive line).
  19. Hopefully it will inspire your fans to rush out and actually make your stadium 1/2 full for your last home game. Do I smell 25,000? Eh, what does it matter. We're somehow never going to beat Northwestern again. Low blow, but I saw it coming. Good to know I was spot-on about Hawkeye fans using the "If we had X player..." excuse, just as they used it for Greene last season. Injury excuses don't really count when the team that beats you causes the injury. i thought you had to be smart to get into northwestern. Oh stop, you're making me blush.
