  1. Trib reporting GB is moving to second. He used to be an SS, right?
  2. sorry about your loss to Northwestern I would say there's no way they could lose to Northwestern, but the Cats beat IU... And we've had Iowa's number the past few years. Iowa has really played down to the level of their competition in a few games this season. Homer prediction: If Kafka and PickManis are healthy, NU will make it interesting.
  3. If it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg, with a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg! http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m100/fishmaster17/mr-mcgreg_002_1196470926.jpg The bone spur's connected to my... wrist watch. Uh oh..
  4. I have tickets but will probably not be able to make it to the UC on-time because of work. Ugh.
  5. It was one of the most exciting finishes I've seen in college football.
  6. I'm glad we get to play Iowa later in the season this time... at least now when we win at Kinnick this time their fans can't say "It doesn't count. It was early. We were a different team then, etc." like they did last year! :D
  7. or getting drunk and cheating with your wife Or getting drunk with power and using the mistress you're cheating on your wife with to help you cheat It would be hotter to have the mistress you're cheating on your wife with tempt your wife into cheating on you with her so that you can blame the divorce on the wife. True, but I was thinking more that the mistress would help you cheat in baseball AND in your marriage... like Bonds' mistress injecting him with HGH!
  8. I don't know what variables has to do with it. But Bradley has nothing to do with the 2009 struggles. He was a disappointment, but a pretty decent player and probably better that whatever they plan on replacing him with. So not only do they have to get some old banged up dudes healthy, hope they stay healthy, and hope that some declines were flukey, they would have to do all that and hope to offset the decline from what Bradley provided. Backtobanks, to clarify, you believe there is a very limited market for Bradley and the Cubs will likely have to resort to some combination of eating salary/accepting marginal return (a reasonable opinion that I happen to share), but you also believe they have to trade him? I'm not sure how you reconcile those two opinions. If the market isn't there, they don't have to trade him. This is correct. I don't understand how people are saying it's not, unless their argument is that Bradley's attitude somehow made his teammates play worse -- a completely indefensible argument in itself.

  10. What about McClelland? Didn't he make the most boneheaded calls of the postseason... in the same game? Saying the runner tagged up early from 3rd and missing a tag of a runner off of 3rd that happened RIGHT in front of him? http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_league_stew/post/Umpire-Tim-McClelland-makes-the-worst-call-of-al?urn=mlb,197210 These umps have been awful. On an unrelated note, I also hate how delayed his strike calls are.
  11. Not a headcase, just spoiled. same thing I guess it's semantics, but I usually equate "headcase" with someone who can't handle pressure from the media, fans, and his teammates. Say, if Jordan had said "I can't play well unless I wear Jordan-brand shoes." Who knows? He's an idiot either way. He's already playing in his dad's shadow as "Jordan's kid." To draw attention to himself so negatively is just plain foolish.

  13. "Ground ball... 4....... 6....... 3...... OH HE DIDN'T GET 'IM!" So annoying.
  14. I'm picturing the Baseball Tonight segment "That's Nasty" where Kruk, Vina, and EY just go: "Phew, man. That's nasty." or "Man, I wouldn't want to be in his shoes right now." or "If you're gonna go down, go down swinging... my goodness" :D
  15. 35 percent of people picked them on Yahoo and 27 on ESPN. The funny part is, this is the first week of the league I'm playing in! (Guy at my office decided to start it late for some reason)
  16. Philly losing knocked out 1/4 of my survivor league. Awesome.
  17. Yeah... I didn't realize Walter Jones was out and I foolishly chose Seattle in my Pick 'Em league. I thought Housh would finally get the ball. I wasn't able to catch any of the game, but something tells me there was more to it than just those two, though.
  18. It's not just you... I can't remember when the bottom of the league was this bad
  19. k
  20. Agreed. I hope he can see the field at some point this year. You don't make a midseason trade giving up a 2nd rounder for a guy who won't even get on the field this season. can't believe he's not playing in this hhuge game where we need to get pressure. Has that been officially announced?
  21. Considering there has been allegations and such, that were looked into and found false, I highly doubt hes paying anybody. And after going to the Rose Bowl, and such, it shouldnt be that surprising he was able to get some kids to come to Champaign. I don't think it's that difficult to get away with. We're not talking about the head coach writing checks, here. A lot of illegal relationships can be facilitated and/or ignored by a program to get a player to attend their school. The Rose Bowl was of course, a HUGE recruiting tool. However, he got a lot of high quality recruits before the Rose Bowl, coming off some awful seasons. I should not have opened this can of worms. I was trying to make an Illinois joke on a board with a lot of Illinois fans, and there's absolutely no way I'll be able to convince anyone without revealing my sources, which I will not do. making sourceless allegations on a message board, eh? good show Yeah, that was dumb. Almost as dumb as saying that I heard about a potential trade. Not trying to get all BigBird here. But at the same time, I'm not going to put in writing "Yeah, XX got paid! I know it for a fact!" and ruin my relationship with that individual and my source. I'll tell you over a beer though, after the NU Illinois game in Champaign. See, none of this would've happened if you hadn't been so purposely dense with my joke!

  24. There's no way I will ever reveal my sources, so maybe I shouldn't have brought it up. Sorry. I am a little surprised, however, that you wouldn't even consider it possible. I know Zook has a reputation as a great recruiter and all, but he sure did get a lot of highly rated prospects to come to Champaign over some big-time programs when Illinois was in the dumps. And I'm a Northwestern grad and fan. Fire away.
  25. That's not fair... Zook has more salary to pay his players. i don't get it. Illinois. Pays. Its players. And they still suck.
