  1. BJ Upton will have an MVP caliber year, and Crawford will invariably rebound and with Price, Kazmir, Garza, Shields, Sonnanstine as the rotation, they'll remain a strong pennant contender [expletive] they're loaded
  2. oops in my defense though i had the misapprehension Orlovsky, whom I like quite a bit, was on IR and Henson was going to start or something
  3. I had to chuckle at this. The Nats seem to have a bigger infatuation with RH hitting outfielders than Jim Hendry's infatuation with guys who can play 2b. Josh Willingham Elijah Dukes Lastings Milledge Austin Kearns Wily Mo Pena i love Dukes, Milledge and Pena if they were available on the cheap (Pena obviously not for starting)
  4. amazing that Angel Guzman was the hold-up we let a better young RP go for the privilege of Kevin Gregg gross
  5. you took the words right out of my mouth, TT
  6. cindy crosbaby! OMG that's hysterical!!!
  7. seeing as he'll likely be healthy for like 3-1/2 years of that contract, that's another pitcher they'll be spending $23m on, per pitching year
  8. 4/63 is not an onerous contract for a pitcher of Peavy's caliber. my god, look at what CC's about to sign. the Pads have special circumstances which are prompting them to get rid of him; it's not comparable to A-Rod or Hampton in any way shape or form.
  9. i'm not too thrilled about people over dramatizing the "7 for 1" thing Hart, Cedeno, Guzman are all easily replaceable off of the scrap heap. what are Denny Bautista or Yorman Bazardo doing these days? where is Gookie Dawkins these days? they're so insignificant i don't too much care what we throw out there in their stead. Marshall was our loogy last year, uh oh where can i find one of those?? hell, the club can't trust Pie to do anything more than late inning defensive substitution and pinch running. OK, where is Freddy Guzman? you've really got Vitters and Derosa were the only players of any consequence whatsoever in the deal. i can surely part with them for a CY winner
  10. http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/columns/story?id=2726800
  11. what are we even arguing about in regards to Pie? "well the organization has done such a rotten job in evaluating his ability and clearing a spot for him to display his talents, so lets just unload him for whatever doghowry we can get in return and forget it ever happened" i guess that worked well for Juan Cruz
  12. and the numbers bear out that Fukudome was a superior player to Ibanez last year and will most likely continue to be for the next three seasons
  13. how are you even comparing these two players anyways? unless you're a big Mariners buff by some chance, obviously you're going to think more highly of a guy with flaws you don't notice/aren't aware of to the other flawed player you have better ability to scrutinize. it just doesn't make much sense.
  14. what makes that so obvious? oh, and i'd also be remiss if i didn't mention Fuku was roughly 5 runs better than Ibanez on the basepaths last year
  15. OK, but I can show you video clips of Fukudome looking stupid at the plate over & over again, after the beginning of the year.......and let's face it, without Fuku's hot start, his hitting numbers were absolutely abysmal. As it was, he ended at a 90 OPS+, but was far lower than that after June. How do you figure he'll project out better next year? I find it far more likely he'll continue to be like he was in the 2nd half of the year. It seems obvious to me that pitchers simply figured him out. the pics i added in there for hilarity if you arbitrarily dispose of all the at bats where he was productive, then sure he was an awful hitter. what's your point? March through June 340 PA 15.5 BB%, 19.5 K%, 20.1 LD%, 50.9 GB%, .133 ISO, .349 BABIP July through October 250 PA, 11.8 BB%, 22.5 K%, 17.8 LD%, 50.1 GB%, .105 ISO, .251 BABIP

  17. i'd argue Fukudome had a more productive season last year overall and projects to have a more productive season this year as well, by more than a small margin
  18. Not if he keeps OPSing in the 600s. you're kidding me you actually think he's had a sufficient MLB sample from which to judge him? he's progressed as a hitter in the minors the last several seasons, fwiw
  19. lol yer gonna get a league average pitcher at a reduced amount!
  20. definitely bench Megatron of those three. we don't even know who's throwing to him this week and the other two WR are as good as it gets
  21. Apparantly not. Maybe it's because no one is typing in green. if the jokes are so corny and flat-out dumb that you have to develop a way to telegraph them, maybe that should serve as some type of indication just not to make them in the first place
  22. Jackson hasn't had a good game since week 7, that's a hell of a leap of faith to take. you don't need to make that gamble, Turner is the 5th most productive RB in fantasy football. thinking about matchups over talent caused me to start Hillis over Deangelo Williams and nearly ruin my season. Turner's scored more points than Peterson
  23. Not a fan of his at all. Not a very good K/9, rather high H/9, and outside of 2007, he's shown a tendency to give up the longball. He's more BABIP dependent because of his lower K rate, but he's been fine with HR rate aside from when he got hurt in '05. I'm not suggesting he be a staple of the bullpen, but we could probably do worse than bringing him in for a year to be a middle reliever. and he'd likely fare even better with BABIP if we had a defensive stud in say, CF
