  1. ??? why wouldn't he be? Because he's a fat guy with old player skills. he's not really fat at all though. hell, isn't he in Subway Diet commercials with Jared?
  2. that one really oughta sting for the Pens fans
  3. possibly the best sleeper out there is Holliday. Oakland Coliseum or not, it's unfathomable that he's slipping to the 3rd round in even expert drafts.
  4. i'd say developing Noah and Thomas into quality starters in the front court would be more vital than securing a decent draft pick. and as of late, they're both actually showing improvements.
  5. NUN, have you seen any of Leino yet? with what i've seen of him i've been impressed. he's great at controlling the puck, and would probably develop into a top-6 forward on a normal team. but as loaded as the Wings are, who knows where they'll fit him in ultimately. the rich get richer.
  6. i think it's important to remember that we (reportedly) wouldn't part with Pie in a Roberts deal or with Hill in a Bedard deal, just a year ago
  7. ok then, take your pick- Hendry: -has really mismanaged his prospects and how to get the best value for them over the last few yrs -has put together an absolutely piss-poor farm system, which with the resources he's had at hand, is downright indefensible at least one of the two statements is correct
  8. i hope you're not saying Heyward's a better bet than Wieters. at any rate, that SimIndex doesn't make sense. Adam Dunn, the most predictable player alive, registers an 8. though I don't doubt i'm misunderstanding it.
  9. hey meph check out the #17 hitter "upside" rating but try not to look at #2
  10. oh, and Gaudin's #1 comp is Dennis Martinez. Harden has the #1 "stuff" rating; Lincecum's the only one who comes close (41.14 & 37.45, respectively)
  11. as it turns out, felix pie's 3rd comparable is carlos beltran
  12. His first-pitch strike percentage in 2008 was 60.7%, third out of four seasons in his career and right around his career average of 58.7. I think there is something to the "wearing down" theory, because his 2007 was out of whack with his other season's, and that that was where he threw the most pitches. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=1783&position=P He doesn't appear to have it in him to be a full-time starter. yeah i guess he did it less often than in 05 when he threw 13 mfing innings, for whatever that's worth. and it's comparable to his approach in 06 when he had the best results of his young career. the worst projection for him i can find is like 4.30 FIP. yeah, an above average pitcher is more than adequate to be your 6th or 7th man in the rotation. i stand by what i said.
  13. he started throwing first-pitch strikes with more regularity and consequently cut down on his walks. he pitched great in 07 before wearing down in the 2nd half due to the highest innings total of his career. and he's still just 25.
  14. Gaudin is more than adequate as a fill-in starter.
  15. Gaudin is more than adequate as a fill-in starter. if we can get Heilman for unwanted junk, why did we give up Ceda for the right to pay a likely inferior pitcher 2.5 times the salary?
  16. what hand does he throw with? how old is he? c'mon people hurry it up i don't have all day
  17. yeah, he's always been fun to watch, even back to when we used to make it out to Vipers games regularly speaking of the Bruins, the Boyes/Wideman swap got a lot of negative press from Boston's end but Wideman's really turning into a very good defenseman, as Boyes proves to be a terrible defensive liability. though i'm having a hard time shaking my of Wideman...
  18. maybe in '10, not a good chance of any of that happening this year
  19. if you did a comparison using KD's SF numbers, things swing in his favor dramatically. your second point sounds like you're arguing in his favor. i'm more impressed with a guy who has to shoulder the offensive burden and only has the option of deferring to stiffs like Robert Swift or Damien Wilkins instead of guys like Gasol or Odom.
  20. oh nevermind, i did a google and learned that they started doing this like 150 years ago
  21. i can't wait until baseball comes out with recorded accounts of the games played so we can have a better understanding of things like this
  22. i know everyone here hates Tyrus, but he looks a lot like Kenyon Martin to me.
