    Sheets is out of our price range now, but I'd have greatly preferred to give him ~2/30 before going 4 years for Dempster; he's really not much riskier imo. you've got Marshall, Atkins and grab Paul Byrd or something for like 2m to give you close to league-average innings if/when Harden and Sheets take their 15 day trainers room respites.

    the roles Miles and Bako do play will be made much more noticeable by their glaring lack of offensive production

    Bradley and Lee aren't HR hitters and we'll have Gathright, Miles, Theriot, Bako, Johnson playing prominent roles on the team. that's about the last thing i'm worried about.

    uh, uh...i guess we'll just never know he's a crappy GM, to put it plainly. and i don't even care much about the Fukudome contract or the other debatable moves. repeatedly wasting like 5 mil on proven [expletive] players like Miles, Blanco, Neifi and Rusch is something that no intelligent GM does, unless you have fantastic player development and occasionally feel the need to splurge on veteran leadership or something. if he had run a low payroll organization he'd be a local area scout by now.

    Have you watched Dempster pitch? He's so much better than those guys. I don't understand the people who don't think that Dempster is good. Watch his stuff; it's filthy! He was mis-cast as a reliever and still wasn't terrible. He will continue to put up 15+ win seasons for the Cubs. Wow, a "use your eyes" AND using wins as a measurement in the same post. That was a gritty post. You can use any measurement you like, Dempster was awesome last year and it should continue. Remember how awesome Adrian Beltre was in 2004? Man, he was so awesome. he still is i really hope Dempster earns his entire contract like Beltre has
