  1. Yeah your right we don't deserve it. Those hard working players deserve it. And if they don't get it, all they have to look forward to is their millions of dollars and national fame. Poor them, I feel so selfish looking at my bank account and realizing all the money I put into this team. I deserve NOTHING Im sorry but you dont. You arent signed by contract to root for this team. You arent drug through years of minor league fandom just to get a shot at big league fandom. Yea I was a big league fan for 21 days. The best 21 days of my life. The fans have exploding cheers, and other unbelieveable stuff. You know you get to spent 6 bucks on a hot dog in the show? And the bleachers... all long and no splinters. There are no pro sports if there are no fans. Tell me if these same players put all this passion and hard work into their game if the result is playing baseball at some YMCA for no money. The answer is that they won't. They'd be doing something else to make money. They work hard so they can play in front of fans. Fans who pay money and ensure they make millions. The fans inherently invest in the team so they can be rewarded with entertainment at first and eventually seeing their favorite team win a championship. The fans deserve it as much and likely more then the players. Dont agree with you at all but will make the offer to buy you a beer next time I am in Chicago, Cubs fan to Cubs fan.

  3. I dont deserve it. I am a fan. I root for them through thick and thin. I dont hit or catch or pitch. The guys who do that are the ones who will earn it. Nothing worth anything is ever given to you, nothing at all. At least anything short of the love from your diety of belief or your parents.
  4. actually it wasnt. Michael said in the post game interview that he was dazed. He got up and the first thing that happened was AJP walked toward him going the wrong way. He then bumped Michael, which is when Barrett said a profane verse about not having the ball. AJP continued bumping him and Barrett slugged him. AJP said he was also dazed. He hit home plate out of "reaction." He was simply trying to pick up his helmet that was behind Barrett, which is why he was walking that way. The worst person involved was Anderson. Watch him on the replay. If he doesnt get suspended for 10 games, there is no justice in this world. No sense in what he did. Then I will stand corrected in the public record. However I still think slapping the plate is what got AJP punched.
  5. No I complain when Dusty wont call his players out, then dosent defend them either. Personally if he wants to chew them out in his office and not the media thats great. But for the sake of all that is good, not backing Barrett in the media is calling him out in the media. Example: It's one of those things that shows that this team hasnt quit. Its how baseball is played when Perzinski took him out, but then slapping the plate crossed the line. Barrett took offense and punched him. It was a heat of the moment thing that I am sure has Michael embarresed now. Once the suspensions come down then Michael will have time to dwell on it, but right now we need to all draw together; take this and make something positive for ourselves. See lots and lots of BS w/o saying much, but I supported Barrett and will have his butt in the office to chew on later.
  6. It is a bit of a grey area since Barrett needed to be "in the act of" recieving the ball. The umpire uses his discression as to whether Barrett was obstructing the plate to prevent the runner from touching it or in the act of recieving the throw. Personally slaping the plate is what got Perzinski punched. What both did IMO was legal up to that point.
  7. See: Hundly, Todd  I don't think it has anything to do with the Hundley deal as that occurred under the old Dodger regime. I think it has to do with Coletti's relationship with the current Cub brass as he used to work for them. I know ... it was joke. Hence the "lol" icon. http://reniewtech.com/images/smileys/unsure.gif I guess I didn't get the joke, sorry. No problem.. most of my jokes are more "miss" than "hit". :? So you are in the Cubs line up too?
  8. They are doing what is expected of them. Watch for the first guy to say he dosent like Baker. He will be in AAA so fast it will seem like gale force winds or traded if they dont have options. The only players who might get away with it are the guys who are too popular to do that too. What is being said internally is another matter entirely. But right now the players are being professional and supporting the skipper, because that is what you do. There is no other way around it. Dont hate them because the system demands it of them, hate the system. IMO when you have a player skirt an answer carefully read deep between the lines.
  9. From what I read about the weather last night there, (cold & damp), the velocity was pretty good.
  10. It dosent really matter. Sing wont play till Hendry kidnaps Darren and holds him hostage or the world ends. Sing is a kid and dosent know how to play yet, and why we cant have the other teams getting a book on him.
  11. Give Coach C a harrrumph!!! Win, you'll like it. It's really fun, it is a good habit.
  12. *SIGH* I'm sorry but this is a high school lineup.
  13. that's because you say idiotic things. agreed. does baker really get race-related hate mail? i kind of have a hard time believing that. I have a hard time understanding why you have a hard time believing that. Because as Mrs. Rosa Parks told me one day when I was blessed enough to meet her, the Racism in the South was easy to overcome. We are honest about it. Its the racism in the north where it is still hidden that is the hardest fight the civil rights movement faces. This is in the late 80's when I met her and I am sad to say things havent changed much. On the bright side they have changed and I think its better in some ways than it was 30 years ago. The whole journey of a million miles begins with the first step view I guess.
  14. Quoted for truth. Its just beyond me why you bring a guy up and let him sit on the bench "sparking" the team. Murton, Cedeno part two? At this rate we will never know!!! Murton and Cedeno should have been starters. Theriot is likely destined to be nothing more than a role player. If he is or if he isnt, we will never find out this way. Besides at 2nd who is he getting a shot at replacing? Very expensive roleplayers.

  16. The first paragraph made me cringe. The rest is just simple salt in the wound for the back handed truthfullness of it. http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/columnists.nsf/jeffgordon/story/169D84637190B49086257168004D5BD1?OpenDocument
  17. Basicly right now is just wait and see. The guys I start calling around about are Rusch, Bynum, Perez, Harriston, Walker, Pierre, Wood, Wuertz, Williamson, Restovitch, Miller, and Mabry. Tiering them I would go with: Wood, Walker, Williamson, and Perez on the top. Pierre, Harriston, Mabry,Miller, and Wuertz. Everyone else. The top tier becomes the solid package of prospects in return. The next tier would be a 1 and 1 level. A prospect that is high risk, high reward and a solid organisational guy. The bottom level is seeing if we can get a sleeper out of our trade partners system. Perez is on the top tier because of his value to us, not his value to others. The package to get Perez would not be as good as the package to get Wood or Walker. So dont scream because your panties are in a wad that you dont like Perez because he is Dustys boy. Dusty is put on notice that at the All-Star break we will chat. If he dosent have a clue what you mean the the All-Star chat is pretty much decided for me before it happens. The coaches are also put on notice, if Dusty is gone at the break they will be retained through the end of the year. Then they need to go find new jobs. If Dusty makes it to the end of the year he will not be resigned. My main reason being that he has not motivated players to thier best performances. Yes, sometimes they need an uncle, but sometimes they need the proverbial boot up the backside. Basicly what they need now. In otherwords quit enabling excuses and find ways to win, not lose. My two canidates to replace him would be Fredi Gonzalez from ATL or seeing what it would take to get Girardi from FLA. They have a bunch of our pitchers, lets see if they want any more. Whoever I hire will have the right to pick thier own staff within reason. Anyone I have left of Rusch, Bynum, Wuertz, or a high prospect that I dont see making the 25, but will cause roster acrobatics to keep them, I try to trade over the off season. Free Agency becomes a bit of a problem because at this point not knowing who has and hasnt been traded I am not sure which holes need to be filled. You asked, I replied. Enjoy folks.
  18. You dont have my 7th period class.... But the Cubs right now are close.
  19. The things that stand out to me from the stats of the day. 1. When the Cubs play as complete a game as they can, they win. 2. When the Cubs fail to execute in any one area they get beat. 3. At this point I really dont see them turning things up because Dusty is the "Uncle" to these guys and not thier coach with the right mix of kickem in the pants and pats on the back to get them out of this.
  20. From the MLB article, "Bonds walked off the field under his own recognizance..." Is it just me or does anyone else think this is funny? Usually you hear recognizance refering to suspected criminals who are released before trial when they arent flight risks.
