  1. perhaps you should look at what some 1st place teams (oakland, cards, detroit) are trotting out there at 2b and then tell me why theriot could only be a starter for the yankee's at 2b. Perhaps you should not put words in my mouth. I never said he could only be a starter for the Yankees.
  2. With all due respect to our young guys, the Marlins have a whole lot more talent in their young guys. Their big problem was inexperience.
  3. Sure, he should be given a shot. Everyone in our system should be given a shot. Theriot's history shows that he would be a very valuable utility man and would likely not produce enough offensively to be counted on as a starter unless he was in the Yankees lineup. He should have been what Neifi/Womack/Macias was.
  4. If he is healthy, I have no problems with a low-base, high-incentive contract. Once he gets back to 100%, the velocity should be close to what it was before the injury. Houston Wade Miller is a far better option for 2007 than a lot of the young guys in our system, and he's right on par with the other big name SP free agents.
  5. He's horrible, we're happy he's gone. You're the one missing the point, however. It was a baseball-related story posted in the baseball discussions forum. If you do not like reading about Neifi, do not open threads containing his name.
  6. How about Patterson, Sosa, Grace, Sandberg, Dawson, Ernie, Maddux, etc.? Which former Cubs are we allowed to discuss? It was a baseball-related article regarding a player that was a very popular (granted, for all the wrong reasons) topic of conversation amongst Cubs fans. There's no reason to knock someone for posting a link.
  7. Nah he just has no nuts. You'd think Z would share, you know, considering how big his are.
  8. You should focus your efforts on distracting good pitchers.
  9. On the Cubs.com site, it has JP current obp as .330 for the season. Ichiro's obp is .360. I'm not advocating JP over Ichiro, just pointing out that even tho Ichiro's obp is .30% points higher, that is not a significant difference. A .330 OBP and .360 OBP is significant. Is it? The difference is getting on base one more time every 33 tries. Which is another 25 times of being on base throughout the season. He also steals bases at an 86% success rate compared to Pierre's 74%, so he's also better at staying on base.
  10. Ichiro is moving to CF in Seattle to make room for Chris Snelling. It was a recent move, thus him only playing there 23 games.
  11. One who meets or exceeds expectations.
  12. Find someone with DirecTV (channel 609 with the sports pack).
  13. Is that an official diagnosis now: Cubs syndrome?
  14. The Iowa City area would be wonderful. I doubt they'd better than 100,000 figure though.
  15. Only because no one bumped this thread between May and yesterday. And there were sizable gaps in this thread last season too. If you add up all of the dumb moves mentioned in all of the game threads as well as new threads that started, my guess is this one would be well over 500.
  16. Not at all. Especially when you look at his age. He was average at best defensively, and a little below average offensively. I'm sure there are much better options that can be had.
  17. 145 games of JD Drew beats the living crap out of 162 of Jacque Jones.
  18. Hopefully it's a blowout and we see lots of Christensen in the 2nd half. Man, I hate Iowa State.
  19. Wow, just caught the box score. How the hell do you win a major league ballgame with 6 errors?
  20. You don't burn too many calories in a home run trot.
  21. I'd take Nomar at 2B and Tejada at SS. Re-signing Aramis, of course.
  22. I'm confused then. I don't believe either of them have options, thus their former teams dealing them here. If they can't go to the minors, are not going to be FAs, and are not arby eligible, what are they?
