  1. I hope we see a day when Pagan is not on our roster. Barring a miracle, he will not be a good player.
  2. yes I don't think by much though. Felix is still very, very raw and I think capable of putting up much better numbers. But at this moment in time, Patterson is better.
  3. L+O+F+T+O+N = Much, much better option than what we had and would probably take the hometown discount to finish his career waiting for Pie to be ready.
  4. Sorry, Jon, but this reeks of the old Northwestern. You know, back when everyone said "now that Penn State joined the league, let's drop Northwestern." That was brutal.
  5. I for one am glad that Blanco beat out Moore for the 1B job now that Lee is out attending to family matters. Who wants to see some rookie play in September on a team 29 games under 500 when we can enjoy a crafty veteran who has been in the league nearly 10 years and sports a career OPS+ of 64? Tell me, who?!?!
  6. the cubs have tried that route already several times. his mechanics & injury history show that he most likely wont be able to start & stay healthy on a consitant basis. the jury is still out on weather he can stay healthy in the pen as a closer. He's on his 3rd major arm/shoulder injury, and all actually have a very high success rate. He's running out of things to hurt.
  7. How many above average budget teams has he coached? Not many. Do you think the Marlin fans care that they were a wild card team when they won the World Series? You're right that 54 - 108 AAA season shouldn't be counted against him and is a good example of why overall records can be misleading. He'll wise up on Neifi. Why shouldn't a 54-108 season be counted against him? Are you saying the quality of the players is what should be looked at? Are you saying the most talented team wins the World Series every year? That managers don't make a difference? That despite being voted Manager of the Year six times (by observant Sports writers like Bruce Miles), Leyland is not a good manager because he lost 108 games with a AAA (at best) team? That's absolutely not what I'm saying. I think managers get too much of the credit and often too much of the blame when it comes to the results of their teams. Jim Leyland might be a "good" manager, but the truth is there are a lot of coaches throughout the country that would make some of the same in-game moves that he makes. He's nothing special.
  8. I thought the season was officially over, as in no more games on the schedule.
  9. I want him starting if he's 100% healthy.
  10. Aren't there any Illini fans out there, or do you all just not care about the sport anymore? Kinda like Hawkeye fans and basketball?

  12. I am very much of the opinion that Joe is getting way too much credit. The Marlins may have had a huge firesale, but the end result was loading up on a lot of high-end talent from their trading partners' minor league teams. All in addition to having one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Everyone saw the talent, it was just a matter of them getting the experience at the major league level to get into a position to compete.
  13. Does this mean DJAXXFAN has to leave?
  14. Pie will play CF for the Cubs next year. We won't have the money to re-sign Pierre after extending Aramis, signing Soriano for 2B, and trading for ARod to play SS.
  15. I assume you root for the White Sox? There's nothing wrong with having a few teams you actively hate. What's the point of going to a bar to watch a game with a team you hate on TV? I mean I wouldn't go somewhere to watch a Cardinals, Pistons, or Viqueens game to waste money and root for a team to lose when my team isn't even in that game. Considering their White Sox fans perhaps they were going to be there anyway.
  16. If the Cubs hired Girardi and the Marlins hired anyone else, everyone would quickly find out this year's results were directly related to the quality of talent each team put on the field.
  17. You could have shelled out a couple more bucks for the real thing. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c263/mgoedken/pierre.jpg
  18. Bob Sanders will take a bullet to the face and still play. The Colts should know better than to put him on a silly injury list.
  19. http://www.technochitlins.com/mt-archives/Falcons.gif
  20. Petition to ban the phrase "eating crow".
  21. They have been winning divisions as long as I can remember. Darn kids. Don't you ever remember the Cubs winning the East?
  22. Jeff Weaver should only be considered if you have no intention of winning. He is terrible and now on the wrong side of 30. Wilson and Branyan would be nice to have on the bench.
  23. You better be right, Will. Now get ARod for SS and Soriano for 2B.
  24. =D> The trading deadline was extremely boring without him around this year.
