  1. 1. Kerry Wood has bad mechanics. Pitching is already an extremely violent act for elbows and shoulders. 2. Mark Prior has a loose shoulder. I had the same problem, and it caused me to often experience much discomfort even before my labrum was torn. Both of these issues can be accelerated with overuse, namely high pitch counts. All evidence I have seen points to Baker being the one making decisions on when his pitchers come out. If Bruce is correct that Dusty often overruled Larry's decisions, I have no issues with him coming back.
  2. I think a couple of weeks ago I said an outfield of Murton/Pie/Jones would be perfectly fine with my infield of Aramis/ARod/Soriano/Lee.
  3. Because the 2010 super bowl decides the champion for the season that starts in 2009, making this the rare occasion when Roman numerals are actually less confusing. It doesn't seem to be a problem for college bowl games (says the guy wearing a 2006 Outback Bowl shirt).
  4. He's 74 years old. Old men typically do get grumpy.
  5. I like every word of that, especially the part about Soriano in CF. Prepare to be bombarded by the "Soriano is overrated and sucks" faction. Last year the guy was a bum who didn't get on enough and was going to stink now that he's not in a hitters park and low and behold...40/40. Soriano is very much overrated, but I'd take him at 2B or CF in a heartbeat.
  6. Potential replacements include Macha.
  7. Miami is getting games 3 years apart because they picked up the New Orleans' Super Bowl. Plus the weather kicks ass around that time of year. Nobody wants to sit outside at night in Kansas City around the beginning of February to watch people play a little football between shows when the other option is Miami.
  8. Hawkeyes suck and can kiss my butt. Congrats on this week's victory a little early.
  9. He wins manager of the year awards ever 6 years, and next season will be his next. OK, I give -- I'm drunk.
  10. Why can't it just be called the "2010 Super Bowl" instead of this Roman numeral crap? It was cute for the first 2 years.
  11. Bob is still too stuck in old school garbage like that silly bunting and whatnot, but he at least recognizes that getting on base is very important when trying to score runs.
  12. She should know -- she's a doctor.
  13. Weaver has pitched pretty well in the playoffs. His 04 and 05 years were pretty decent with the Dodgers. 04: 13-13, 34 Starts, 220 IP, 4.01 ERA, 1.30 WHIP 05: 14-11, 34 Starts, 224 IP, 4.22 ERA, 1.17 WHIP If he could return to his Dodger form, he would be an ideal 5th starter. His "pretty decent" Dodger years put him at average at best. We already have several options that could put up better numbers than Weaver at a fraction of the cost.
  14. Anyone mentioning Weaver needs to put down the sauce. He has not been any good for the better part of 5 years and is getting worse.
  15. I've had this weird feeling in the back of my unusually large head that Hendry/McD are planning on making a big splash this offseason. Maybe it's the remaining bit of optimism I have. Then again, it could be that it's Friday and I've already started drinking.
  16. Why? Because he wasn't totally worthless back in '02.
  17. Yes, I am a Bears fan, and I'm old enough to have seen Bears games at Wrigley Field. You must be, like, a hundred or something.
  18. I think the point was that you're "ready to move on" and "win now" yet starting threads complaining about what wasn't working now being gone.
  19. No, Rob Deer got to play in the majors.
  20. Sorry, I wasn't alive in 1969...the last time the Mets cost the Cubs anything. 69 is only part of the story. They were the Cubs big rival until realignment.
  21. They did, in 2001: http://www.fanforhire.com/images/mprior.jpg I mean throwing 100 with ease. They did, in 1973: http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/dtrapp/patty1.jpg
  22. Are you saying NSBB is somehow inferior?
  23. Holy Crap! Shrink the kentdamn avatar! Almost missed your reply -- I got tired of scrolling to the right.
