  1. I think the Farnsworth trade has been considered good for quite a while now. How so? Novoa has been just shy of brutally awful, and Moore hasn't exactly been a "can't-miss".
  2. Sure, but the Cubs had Hairston on the team for about 1 1/3 seasons, a significant amount of time. We also got Mike Fontenot in the Sosa deal and he's not doing half bad in AAA. He's also responsible for The Pope's death. That's my latest theory as to why he's on "the list".
  3. Yes, his is twice as strong as the average human's and the size of a Buick.
  4. In 87 games with the Cubs, Neifi managed 5 bases on balls (012 IsoD). He has already walked twice in 10 games with the Tigers.
  5. Sure seemed like it to me.
  6. There was an article about how Vince Coleman(at least I'm pretty sure it was Coleman) came to work with Iowa and how he had really turned around his basestealing since. Bob Dernier
  7. I don't want him. I like what we have at WR right now with Moose, Berrian, Bradley, Davis, Gage. If they want to go after Deion Branch, that's a different story. I wanted Lelie and I think we could've had him. I want this team to go after good WRs, not other people's trash. The pass game is the glaring weakness of this team, unless they give Benson more than 10 carries/game, in which case the whole offense will be terrible. Rogers isn't the answer, we need a serious #1 receiver (Moose is a good #2) and Rex to step up right away, or Greise to step in and be average at the least. Good luck getting a #1 this time of year. If you have a shot to upgrade a position, why not take it? A healthy Charles Rogers is much better than most of the Bears options at WR.
  8. I remember that time early in the season where somebody offered me Ryan Howard for Jeff Kent in my fantasy league. He called me a dumbass for accepting the trade.
  9. Lou Holtz is an idiot. Mark May is barely a notch above him.
  10. Sicko.
  11. Probably because you weren't in the clubhouse. Phil has notoriously been perceived as someone who let the fame go to his head and treated others around him (non-players) as though they were beneath him. So when were you in a clubhouse? Bruce Miles is in the Clubhouse almost every game, and he said something to that effect. And Bruce is far from being the only one who has ever said anything similar.
  12. So, I was just thinking to myself, "what should we have for supper?" Then I read this post and no longer have an appetite.
  13. I doubt it. http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=chc
  14. Iowa leads Montana 17-0 at the half. Montana should do some damage this year -- they're pretty darn talented.
  15. So Restovich and Fontanent are on the Cubbie poopie list? Sure seems like it. Good thing too. We don't need any of those players that just get on base and hit good and stuff.
  16. Probably because you weren't in the clubhouse. Phil has notoriously been perceived as someone who let the fame go to his head and treated others around him (non-players) as though they were beneath him.
  17. I fell for your "ooh, click me" trick and found some loser with these numbers playing for a team called Iowa: 293/374/561/935
  18. Does MVP stand for something different these days?
  19. give me a break. just admit that, as of right now, you were dead wrong about him. Oh, come on. Did you ever admit when he was sporting a 9+ ERA that you were dead wrong about him at that time? He's had a few good games, and some absolutely miserable ones. When he starts putting up numbers like he did today with some sort of consistency, then we'll talk.
  20. I think Dusty mentioned something about he wanted to wait till like the 5th for some of these guys since that's when their season ended or something? I seem to remember hearing that. Iowa is done on the 4th. Will we see Restovich considering he's not on the 40 man?
  21. Before we annoint him the next coming, keep in mind he was pitching against a Giants team that didn't get in the city until about 2am and was without a red-hot Bonds. Good performance, but it was hardly dominating given the circumstances.
  22. Look at the Cardinals. They have Jason Marquis and Jeff Weaver in their rotation and they are competing. You do not have to have frontline guys 1-5 to be good. You just have to have guys that can keep you in the game and be effective. Not everyone on your team is going to have a sub 4 ERA that is just part of the game. They also have Pujols, Rolen, Carpenter, and the good fortune of playing in a super weak division in a horrible league. Adding mediocrity just because there's a perception it's working for someone else is a bad idea.
  23. Best of luck, Jon.
