  1. Too many choices, so much confusion.
  2. http://youtube.com/watch?v=dXrd5XL4mTg
  3. I don't think so. not unless they find a way to dump a lot of bad contracts, sign all the top free agents, and go young everywhere else. do you see that happening? I think they can get back above .500 but they won't be any closer to winning the world series. I don't have much confidence in Hendry to identify and plug the right holes, but it could be fixed in one offseason with a top 5-7 payroll. We've had money for decades. Hasn't made a difference yet. Why would it start now? Don't confuse my post for thinking it will happen. I'm merely pointing out that with resources, it is possible.
  4. If Miller is at 100% and his velocity is back, then I also want to see him given a look for next season. If he could return to his Houston form, it would be much more valuable to have him on the team in '07 than most of the rookies we've been trotting out there.
  5. Say what? PremiumNon-premium Hmm, I heard the same thing lawl posted -- that it was actually far from a done deal. You scared the bejeezus outta me with your post.

  7. You can fix it in 1 year with a 95M payroll.
  8. Yes. Yes, you should have. Let not point out people's spelling mistakes. It's so juvenile. Stick with talking baseball... I didn't.
  9. If it makes you feel any better, I don't care much for either one.
  10. Yes. Yes, you should have.
  11. When was this? The only one who's been good and healthy is Z. Probably around the time they had cheap young pitching.
  12. Ortiz had the flu, Manny's nursing a sore knee.
  13. Except he wouldn't be on the market if he didn't sign that deal. If I'm not mistaken he would be looking at FA after the 07 season. So he would have been dealt in July of 07 to the Yankees/Red Sox and inked his new deal a few weeks later. Either way he took some terrible advice from an agent. You're mistaken. 2009 would have been his 1st FA year.
  14. That ball snakes out there? What the hell does that even mean?
  15. I have now enjoyed reading Mariotti twice in one season. I feel dirty.
  16. I think it was Mike Greenberg who said something to the effect of "I would be shocked if Girardi isn't managing the Cubs next year, assuming he leaves Florida." I'm not sure how much stock I put into his predictions/analysis. I remember when Greenie penciled himself in as the next play-by-play announcer for the Cubs a week or so before Len was hired.
  17. Are you saying Dusty is Jesus?
  18. What if activating him means Rusch is sent packing when waiting until the 1st could mean he's still with us for another season?
  19. If it weren't for the late season injury to Flash Gordon I think they would have likely made the playoffs that year. Seems hilarious now, but I recall the elation I felt knowing that we had locked up the division with the McGriff trade. I recall a decisive beatdown on the Cardinals that very weekend that further cemented the notion. The thing I didn't like about that trade was they were replacing one of the three productive bats in the lineup with a guy who was just a little more productive. It's not like they plugged a whole. Stairs was hitting, unlike a lot of the other guys. McGriff was actually quite a bit more productive, but I agree with the thinking. 3B was the obvious hole after Mueller went down.
  20. Barrett's also still not at 100%.
  21. 243/295/368/663 - Overall 522/560/870/1430 - vs the Cubs
  22. Was Larry Bowa well-received as a Cub? I couldn't stand him. I didn't think he was much of a fan favorite, but I could be wrong considering I was just a kid when he played. Shawon Dunston would have been my choice.
  23. I think yes because the one thing people who vote "know" about Ortiz is that every Red Sox game is won in the bottom of the 9th with a walk-off 7-run HR.
