  1. Why is Hill more deserving than O'Malley? Aside from the K's, their numbers are actually quite comparable, and they're the same age.
  2. I didn't think you'd take 8 million solo HR's literally. I didn't. I also know better than to think that Corey has a higher rate of solo HR's than most.
  3. None of those players broke their wrist, something that directly affects how fast you can swing a bat and in turn your mechanics. Besides, we have 3 1B on the roster in Nevin, Mabry, and Lee. I just don't understand why you'd let him play one more meaningless month. 5 years from now, Lee will still be somebody who broke his wrist. If he is healthy, it's stupid to not let him play.
  4. I think it was explained quite well already -- ARod was the superior player at that position. Pretty simple, actually. If you think the hatred for aRod is bad now, imagine if he had taken Jeter's position. So what? That organization holds a ton of sway over the media in NY. If Jeter was the consumate team player and captain he's purported to be, he'd have publically handed over the SS position because it was what was best for the Yankees, and then you have no controversy. It just doesn't work like that man. It just doesn't. Do you give your corner office spot to the new guy because he went to a great college and was on the dean's list? It just doesn't work like that! Terrible analogy. Occupying a different physical workspace in an office is not comparable to manning different positions in baseball. You may not give the new guy the corner office, but any business with desire to succeed will definitely give him the more important and bigger clients.
  5. Even Bob calls him "The Riot".
  6. Do we really even need a manager?
  7. I think it was explained quite well already -- ARod was the superior player at that position. Pretty simple, actually.
  8. Is that what we're doing now -- making up stats?
  9. If he's healthy and there are no players competing for that spot next season, what does it hurt to let him play? If you sit him, you may as well sit Barrett, Ramirez, Zambrano, etc.
  10. He needs to be more patient. He can't hit his way on base.
  11. Why is he your first choice? Because Davey Johnson was mean to him once.
  12. If Prior wasn't busy letting people get on base, Gonzo would have blown a DP chance. If Sosa would have hit 25 home runs in game 1, then we would have swept. Jeepers, this old argument is tired. If you build a team around great defense, you'll lose 4-0 every day.
  13. actually, if you give him starts over hill, guzman, marmol, etc, the cubs would be losing something...a chance to see who fits in the rotation next year. How do you know that O'Malley doesn't fit into the 2007 plans? Can you somehow see into the future? I realize that he isn't going to come out and throw 8 shutout innings every single time out, but give the guy a chance to show what he can do. If he gets shelled, then we don't have to worry about where he fits in next year. If he pitches well, then we either have a piece for 2007 or a player that could potentially be traded in the offseason. I agree. Hill, Gooz, Marmol, etc haven't exactly been competing for the Cy Young. I think O'Malley definitely deserves a shot after his debut.
  14. You take that back. I actually see the possibility for improvement with Aardsma. Whether or not there is a chance that he can improve, it doesn't change the fact that he is crap. His ERA is about 6. He is crap. Novoa is absolute crap.
  15. 27 might be just a titch old to be putting up mediocre numbers in AA.
  16. No options I would imagine someone who sucks worse based on the current roster
  17. You take that back. I actually see the possibility for improvement with Aardsma.
  18. He finally snapped, got into a fight with some White Sox fans, and is in jail right now. I'm going to go with hospital.
  19. I really used to like him. It's really hard now.
  20. Didn't Kearns only hit about 214 with his glove? That trade was awful from the Reds perspective. Awful.
  21. What if he's already at 100%? Shouldn't he be playing?
  22. He had shoulder problems. Me too. Good thing I wasn't signing a pro ball contract.
  23. What's involved with the physical? I think I passed the last one I had, and I'm in lousy shape.
