  1. More importantly, we don't have the damn lead and now Lou's going to try to make Marmol's arm fall off.
  2. Wouldn't you think he'd bring up Fontenot 1st knowing they'd bring in the lefty and then save Ward for this situation?
  3. We've been saying that a lot lately. Chew on this. Doesn't Ward PHing for Cedeno mean we'll have to see Fontenot if the game goes to extras? Eww. Well, that, unless Lou decides he doesn't hate Murton tonight.
  4. Well, let's hope MR. Bases-loaded can do his thing here. Or, maybe Ward will hit. Yea, overmanaging. God, Lou, just leave them alone.
  5. I believe its 6 SB 4 CS. Don't forget one of those SB was because of a dropped catch at 3B in Pittsburgh, so realistically it should be 5 and 5 It really makes one wonder how he was 55 of his last 64 before that. He hasn't even been close on many of them this year. It seems like he's running more often now since he apparently has the green light all the time. They should take that away from him, yesterday. Nice quick inning by Demp, though. Pretty good outing for him.
  6. What is his SB% now? Can't be real good. Was the pitch to DLee that bad?
  7. He does need some atonement for the error last inning.
  8. Just watched the play on gameday highlights. Holy crap he went a long way to get that. I don't think there's a lot of CFs that get to that ball and one of the few is on the Cubs bench tonight
  9. I don't think he had that bad of a day yesterday. He got robbed on a great play up the middle by Tulo in the 1st and then killed the rally in the 8th (I think) by lining into the DP. He made good contact at least twice but was unlucky. Not that I'm in favor of him playing all the time, I'm just sayin'.
  10. That works for me. However, there's no way Lou bats Ronny at 2 and Theriot at 8. It'll be the other way around if that's who's in the lineup.
  11. I'm listening on Gameday audio. It doesn't sound like Uecker doing the PBP. Doesn't he still do that for the Brewers?
  12. Actually, you couldn't have an at-bat, a walk, and have an OPS of 1.000. Pretty sure he meant a PA, not an AB.
  13. So, in the bottom of the 4th in Milwaukee, the Brewers have already run into the 1st out of the inning trying to stretch a double into a triple and gotten picked off of 1st. This was then followed by a walk. That OBP is worthless if you continue to be dumb. Maybe Yost isn't the only thing that will keep them from winning.
  14. You sound like a jilted lover! I was wondering how you'd feel about this, well....how do you feel about this? Don't really care. His time came and went. He is a smart guy, but isn't embracing this new era of player development. His success was based largely on 75 cent on the dollar trades like Edmonds, McGwire, Woody Williams, Darryl Kile and Rolen. Those just don't happen anymore. In a market like Cincinnati, I don't see him having much success unless it is despite himself. And this is why we like wolf. That's about as succinctly as you can sum up Jocketty's way of doing things. His lack of vision in terms of prospect and building a team have killed the Cards and their farm system. Unfortunately for Cubs fans, they now have some people in the FO who have a clue.
  15. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-23-cubs-bits-chicagoapr23,1,1554632.story
  16. I honestly don't think it will, considering Jocketty was fired by St. Louis for not embracing some of the new school thinking in developing their farm system and team. He and Dusty are a match made in heaven for each other.
  17. Just announced on 1380 in St. Louis per the Cincinatti Enquirer (?). News conference this afternoon. Edit: Confirmed by ESPN. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3363283
  18. I think these are totally different situations. On one hand you've got Cedeno, a young guy who may be coming into his own as a productive ML player, and on the other you've got veterans who you know about what you're going to get out of them. It's totally different to give a young guy a starting spot over another somewhat young guy than it is to bump a young guy like Felix or Hill for somebody like Johnson or Lieber on a permanent basis. You've also got a huge difference in ceilings of the young payers you're talking about at this point in time.
  19. My theory on that is this: so many guys on base, eventually somebody's gonna knock 'em in. If they have 20 guys on base every game, they only have to get 4-5 of them in to win most of the time. I'll take it.
  20. isnt his elbow screwed up? Why would tony do that? If you are going to stick someone at 2nd who can't play it, wouldn't you go with someone other than your franchise player? If it was me, I'd have put Schumaker at 2B (he played SS and 2B in college) and Larue in left, leaving Pujols and his gimpy arm at 1B.
  21. Well, his WHIP for the day was 1.33 and considering how well the Mets had done thus far against lefties, I'd say he took a major step in the right direction today. I'm kind of glad Lou left him in there to get it figured out.
