  1. The weather is unbelievably crappy down here right now. I hope they get thru the 5th and then the skies open up.
  2. When a RH pitcher is regularly making LH hitter's knees buckle, that is some filthy, filthy stuff. He is just ridiculous when he's on. Nearly unhittable.
  3. I wasn't a huge fan of it by any means, but Lou's acknoewledgement of the situation in the post game and him saying he would get him a shorter outing next time out makes me not all that worried about it. It's not a Dusty situation where he has to "ride his horses", especially this early in the season and with as many BP options as they have.
  4. I would have given anything to be there. I immediately got goose bumps (amidst running wild up and down the stairs). Does anyone know if any posters were there? It was incredible. I'm pretty sure that's the loudest I've ever heard that stadium get. Ever. I was in the bleachers the night of the Cards game when Jacque homered and Barrett hit the grand slam to win it. That was unreal. If today was louder, wow.
  5. Hopefully the Rockies will have breast cancer on 2nd base tomorrow. Or at least a bunch of Cubs baserunners.
  6. So, Ascanio got sent down for his good work last night why? And it's good to know I'm not the only one having trouble with pages loading.
  7. It's 3 hours before game time. Probably got about 2 more to wait. I thought they were out sooner than that. I was just curious because they were talking about the Cards lineup for their game tonight against Houston. Speaking of which, it almost seems like LaRussa is trying to make a point to the sportwriters down here again. He's got Miles at SS (2-13 career against Oswalt) and Duncan in LF who's like 3-21 against Oswalt. Miklasz had an article today about sending Duncan to AAA. As hot as Ludwick has been, I hope he keeps doing it.
  8. Post-Dispatch article on the game. I was amused by the "News flash!" at the beginning od the story and was expecting to see it followed by baby. http://prepsports.stltoday.com/ssi/prep/stories2008.nsf/baseball/story/7EEB680B412E1ED0862574580014CE33?OpenDocument
  9. And how is it that Fontenot is 3-3 against a lefty?
  10. I can't really fault a guy for an AB like that. He didn't swing at any bad pitches and didn't get himself out. Good job by Saito.
  11. It wasn't really the arm that time, it was the bobble when he fielded the ball that really caused the problem. He seems to do that on a regular basis but usually gets away with it.
  12. At least this time it's to a guy with a history of ML success.
  13. I'm pretty sure strike 2 was about 6 inches low.
  14. Eh, that wasn't bad. I could deal with it if they were all like that, but there have been many that were much, much worse. They should just let Santo do it every game and if he can't do it then maybe Soto can.
  15. His team is playing again today. Here's a link to the live scoring updates. Not sure if he's pitching or not. http://www.ihsa.org/scores/8y28ba3.htm
  16. Yep, both are awesome. I enjoy reading the passion these guys have for their schools. Oh, because Syracuse is a college sports juggernaut.
  17. Jordan was 6'6"....was he a SF? nope Pippen was 6'9"....was he a PF? nope there is no hard and fast rule about size per position That's the opposite of what I was saying. Those guys were big for the position they played. Beasley is possibly undersized for the position he's slated to play. Guys like Rodman and Brand get away with being a little short because they have great energy and aren't relied on for their offense or they have a relatively big body with better quickness than most guys that size. Beasley is an athletic guy with a much smaller build than Brand but great mobility. My only point was that he may not have the big body to score in the post that he's advertised to be, which is a concern for me when he may be the top pick in the draft. Therefore, I like picking Rose at the top of the draft better.
  18. What? He won't be an NBA power forward if he is 6'7" or 6'8". What? At 6'7" or 6'8", he won't be tall enough with his body type to be successful playing a true power forward spot in the NBA. Therefore, his value is diminished because he won't be an inside scoring force like he is being made out to be. If that's not clear enough, I don't know what to tell you.
  19. So I guess I'll contribute my "patently ridiculous, will definitely be mocked for being an overly sensitive Illini fan comment" here. I'd rather be called not relevant (which will last for no more than 2 years) than: 1. Be a fan of a program about to be smacked by the NCAA because their former president wanted to hire a known cheater. (I am glad to see Crean cleaning things up because it's good for the B10) 2. Be a fan of a program who has had 2-3 years of good teams in the last 20 whose coach was blacklisted from D1 coaching for his douchebaggery and is also a known pedophile. (OK, he's not a pedophile, but he is in an awful lot of pictures drinking/with coeds for a 50 year old guy)

    Golf

I'm a guy who has typically been able to drive the ball pretty straight with older models of drivers but a huge drive for me was 260-270. I switched to a Taylor Made R580XD about 2 years ago and started absolutely crushing the ball. I'm now consistently driving the ball 260-270 with a much more regular sprinkling of 280-290 yard drives than I was getting the 260-270 with the older clubs. I've hit a bunch of different drivers and Taylor Made seems to be the most forgiving and have the best feel for me. By the way, I bought my driver off of Ebay with a custom graphite shaft for $85 including shipping. If you're looking for irons, I play with a set of Callaway X-18 knock offs that I bought for $160 online. Not much difference between the real ones and the fakes if you ask me, at least for a guy who plays 3-4 times a month. If you're a great golfer, you'll notice a difference.
  21. Lilliy looks all squinty and unshaven and not very happy to be out there. Maybe he's got the David Wells theory working, but it certainly isn't working very well for him.
