  1. I forgot to mention that - thanks. LaRussa gets such a bad rap from opposing and even home team fans that it is nice to see him defended occasionally. The reason LaRussa gets such a bad rap is his paranoid/genius act. He always thinks everyone in the press has a hidden agenda they're trying to pursue and it just comes of as arrogant and smart-assed to hit your pitcher 8th. I think a lot of his attitude/personality comes fromthe fact that he's a lawyer and has a massive ego that needs to be stroked. Now with all that said, he's definitely one of the better managers MLB has ever seen. He has had good teams, but he does seem to get as much out of them as is possible.
  2. You think Dero would get through waivers? Maybe we send them Moore and he can play 3rd for them, at least for the rest of this year. He really doesn't have any foreseeable future with us as 1st and 3rd are both blocked for quite a while yet.
  3. Any word on whether or not anything is happenning on this?
  4. And I was just noticing before the game how good his K/BB ratio has been this year. Ugh.
  5. Bad pickoff throws? Leadoff single? I prefer leadoff homers. I prefer 6/14 in leadoff spot. I prefer .500 OBP over .336 OBP in the leadoff spot. I prefer someone who can take walks over someone who strikes out 3x more. I prefer people who know what they're talking about over people who don't. Ever heard of a sample size? Yeah I would much rather have had Jason Kendall than Sosa in the early 00's you know cause Kendall never K'd Eat a bag. Ever heard of learn baseball? 18 HR good for him. Theriot: 353 AB - 34 SO - 36 BB - .352 OBP Soriano: 444 AB - 95 SO 0 24 BB - .336 OBP Now who should eat a bag? Soriano should bat 5th, learn baseball, take notes from your terrible t-ball team then come back to post. The fact is we paid him all that money to leadoff. He is going to leadoff. Soriano in two years will still be hitting leadoff. Theriot might, might still be in baseball. Might. Actually, the Cubs paid Soriano all that money to be a productive hitter, regardless of where he hits. Based on the type of hitter he is, he is best suited to be a #5 type hitter, whereas Theriot's skillset (solid OBP and not much power) make more sense in the leadoff spot. Question: would you rather have a solo homer or a 2 or 3 run homer? Now, where should Soriano and Theriot hit?
  6. I'm sure this was discussed earlier, but does Lou hate Pie?
  7. I think Hill. He looks like he'd rather be in the AL, as in completely not interested in being anywhere near a batter's box.
  8. Because there's a good chance on every stride he takes that one of his legs will just completely fall off.
  9. That just almost doesn't seem possible given the home park he pitches in. aside from the goofy boxes in left, minute maid is one of the most pitcher friendly ballparks in the majors. That's the thing though. He's a lefty and you have to think other teams are stacking the lineup with rightys who are more likely to yank it into the Crawford Boxes.
  10. That just almost doesn't seem possible given the home park he pitches in.
  11. To be fair, Wandy has like a 1.1 something ERA at home. Plus he's a lefty. Plus our offense sucks. He must be horrendous on the road with a 4.57 ERA overall then. How the hell is it possible for a junkballer like him to have a 1.1 ERA anywhere?
  12. The Cubs have had 7 damn baserunners the whole night!!!!!!!!! Against "magic" Wandy????? Pathetic.
  13. Is there really any reason not to go get Jermaine Dye? He's heated up a little lately and is only signed thru this year. Any idea what it might take to get him?
  14. all because the pitcher batting 8th probably. What is that all about? LaRussa just proving he's smarter than everyone else or an actual reason?
  15. boy i'm glad you're not running the cubs boy i'm glad you love to root for a team that has a few losers in it. Remove the losers on this team and we can actually win this division. Dempster, Jones, Howry, Eyre are all losers. On the subject of Howry, good lord look at a few statistics before you go spouting off and make yourself sound like an idiot.
  16. Interesting, but way too anecdotal to have any real value. Now you show me that Peavy lost to the Pirates and Reds with Barrett and beat the Mets and Dodgers with Bard, then maybe. Also, wasn't the time of that trade about when Rothschild is supposed to have gotten Z's mechanics fixed?
  17. Unfortunately the most likely explanation for his poor performance today was that he's Sean Marshall. I'll take a staff with a couple of pitcher's putting up the numbers Marshall has this year. Let's make comments with more hyperbole!!!!!!!! Yea hyperbole!!!! Edit: his #'s so far this year (before today) K 22 BB 48 ERA 3.10 WHIP 1.25 BAA .243
  18. Gun to your head, Blanco or Kendall...who do you choose? If Blanco is healthy and you guarantee Kendall won't figure out how a bat works, Blanco every time.
  19. Is this ump really as bad as gameday is indicating?
  20. :?: What does that mean :?: Pretty sure he's talking about Lee and Aram at 1st and 3rd.
  21. I don't have any idea of his availability or contract, but if we're getting an old OF from SF I'd rather have Winn.
