  1. It should be considering: a) the sac fly should have been the 3rd out b) Tejada shouldn't have been at 3rd anyway if Soriano didn't pull a Braun in LF
  2. The truth lies somewhere between what Passan's article talks about and what the Cards homers will tell you (not looking at you wolf). I was at the rescheduled game using work tickets that people couldn't use because they already had other plans. You had to use your stub from the day before and I would bet that a lot of people just couldn't get down there or get their tickets to somebody else. I thought it was a decent crowd considering the circumstances and my wife (6 1/2 months pregnant) and I left during the top of the 8th when it started getting pretty chilly out and it was about 9:30 already. That said, i did enjoy the yahoo article calling out many of the clowns that represent "Cardinal Nation". I've had a few good baseball conversations with Cards fans at games and those people realize how blindly loyal "TBFIB" are regardless of what any of the players may do.
  3. Well done!!! He lost it on the 1st batter in the 6th.
  4. don't tell that to crazy illini fans, they'll think you're a ku alum. i said this exact same thing on the scout board, along with my reasoning (ie: ku being a top 5 program nationally, and one could argue, the most prestigious job in college basketball seeing as how the guy who invented the game used to occupy the position), and some guy said i was a delusional ku alum, i swear. so, i guess that 1. stating that self is not going to abandon ku, and 2. stating that ku is a top collegiate program makes me not only delusional, but a ku alum. this is why people hate UI fans on the internet, most of them are too young to drive or are too old to go to the bathroom by themselves. i wish we could just stop the hate. self is not going to leave kansas, kansas is not illinois and osu is not kansas, get over it. Aren't you thinking of Rupp at Kentucky? Pretty sure the guy who invented it was James Naismith, and then KU had the legendary Phog Allen.
  5. I can't believe how slow the MLB audio is. The Soto homer popped up on yahoo gamecast at the same time Pat called it.
  6. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?id=3321869&sportCat=mlb Just reading through some of these, this one caught my eye and I couldn't figure out who he was talking about off the top of my head. Reds, Twins, and Os came to mind but don't think those are right.
  7. Heard an interesting stat on Lohse this morning. In the last 2 seasons his ERA in games he's won is 1.62 and in games he's lost it's 10.17. ERA #'s are what I remember, may not be exactly right, but they're close.
  8. Or maybe Sheets is good? /ducks for attempting a bit of reason in a game thread
  9. And also 1 CS, I believe. To end an inning no less.
  10. Yeah, that's who I would think would pitch as well. Sucks for Z. He was really looking dominant the first 3 innings. Who would the Brewers send out? Either team could send out their 5th starter considering the days off.
  11. I'm not remembering that one, what was it?
  12. that's often what happens with new stadiums. extort the city into paying for it, then fall into mediocrity (see: Pittsburgh, Cincy, Seattle, San Francisco, Houston....) I think it has less to do with the Cardinals and their lack of effort than it has to do with the complete lack of anything attractive about downtown St. Louis. There's just not a lot going on down there and the ballpark village was supposed to be a building block, but if you can't get people into going downtown, it's not gonna work. That area of the city is completely lifeless unless there's a Cards game going on.
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/preview08/columns/story?columnist=neyer_rob&id=3310373 Corey Hart and Melky Cabrera? You've got to be kidding me.
  14. Didn't the Cards gamble on a lot of DL type pitchers this off season due to the lack of talent? Not other than Clement. Mulder, Carpenter, and Kinney are all coming off surgery from last year, Piniero developed some shoulder issues during ST, and I'm not sure about Johnson, he may have had some lingering injury from last season.
  15. I might be miscounting, but 12 pitcher plus the starting 8 position players puts it at 20. 5 bench spots left for Murton, Blanco, Ward, Fontenot/Cedeno/Patterson, and Johnson, no? No "need" to get rid of Murton if they sign Johnson. Am I forgetting someone? My only issue with that is unless you keep Cedeno, you don't have a "real" backup SS unless we've all decided that Dero can do it (which is what I think is the best option, and he should be starting there, but whatever).
  16. At this point, it kinda looks like the B10 is the least of the issues with the mess down in ATL at the SEC tourney though. But yeah, it is a small problem for them, but all they have to do is have 2 scenarios. ILL or Minny in at a 13 seed or the bracket as it would otherwise be. Not a huge deal.
  17. Wow, just wow!!! Length of the court pass with :02 on the clock, caught by the guy who won the state championship in Minnesota with a 3 from his backside a couple years ago, who then turns around and shoot an off balance lefty hook shot (he's right handed) and hits nothing but nylon!!!! Un-freakin-belivable!!! Hello, IU, this is Karma, and I'm a beeyotch!!!!
  18. If Dempster implodes and Lieber pulls a fat that still leaves the Cubs with the same exact rotation they had last year, Zambrano, Lilly, Hill, Marquis and Marshall. They also have a couple other guys who could probably make some emergency starts and give you typical emergency start type performance.
  19. That's the one I was able to name off the top of my head as well...I though that was pretty good considering I was 5 for most of the 1981 season. Me too.
  20. Was one Ivan DeJesus (is that who was sent to the Phillies for Sandberg)?
  21. Pretty sure the Trachsel deal last year didn't go on for very long and also the Tejada deal this year didn't drag on and on. It was rumored for a couple of weeks but went down pretty quickly. Not nearly as fast as the Renteria trade went down, but it certainly didn't drag on like "every deal the O's make" like you are saying.
