  1. Jordan was 6'6"....was he a SF? nope Pippen was 6'9"....was he a PF? nope there is no hard and fast rule about size per position That's the opposite of what I was saying. Those guys were big for the position they played. Beasley is possibly undersized for the position he's slated to play. Guys like Rodman and Brand get away with being a little short because they have great energy and aren't relied on for their offense or they have a relatively big body with better quickness than most guys that size. Beasley is an athletic guy with a much smaller build than Brand but great mobility. My only point was that he may not have the big body to score in the post that he's advertised to be, which is a concern for me when he may be the top pick in the draft. Therefore, I like picking Rose at the top of the draft better.
  2. What? He won't be an NBA power forward if he is 6'7" or 6'8". What? At 6'7" or 6'8", he won't be tall enough with his body type to be successful playing a true power forward spot in the NBA. Therefore, his value is diminished because he won't be an inside scoring force like he is being made out to be. If that's not clear enough, I don't know what to tell you.
  3. So I guess I'll contribute my "patently ridiculous, will definitely be mocked for being an overly sensitive Illini fan comment" here. I'd rather be called not relevant (which will last for no more than 2 years) than: 1. Be a fan of a program about to be smacked by the NCAA because their former president wanted to hire a known cheater. (I am glad to see Crean cleaning things up because it's good for the B10) 2. Be a fan of a program who has had 2-3 years of good teams in the last 20 whose coach was blacklisted from D1 coaching for his douchebaggery and is also a known pedophile. (OK, he's not a pedophile, but he is in an awful lot of pictures drinking/with coeds for a 50 year old guy)

    Golf

I'm a guy who has typically been able to drive the ball pretty straight with older models of drivers but a huge drive for me was 260-270. I switched to a Taylor Made R580XD about 2 years ago and started absolutely crushing the ball. I'm now consistently driving the ball 260-270 with a much more regular sprinkling of 280-290 yard drives than I was getting the 260-270 with the older clubs. I've hit a bunch of different drivers and Taylor Made seems to be the most forgiving and have the best feel for me. By the way, I bought my driver off of Ebay with a custom graphite shaft for $85 including shipping. If you're looking for irons, I play with a set of Callaway X-18 knock offs that I bought for $160 online. Not much difference between the real ones and the fakes if you ask me, at least for a guy who plays 3-4 times a month. If you're a great golfer, you'll notice a difference.
  5. Lilliy looks all squinty and unshaven and not very happy to be out there. Maybe he's got the David Wells theory working, but it certainly isn't working very well for him.
  6. Lou needs to go on a tirade and get suspended for about a week to get his dumbness away from the team for a while. His ridiculous overmanaging and mismanaging is just pissing me off.
  7. Wait Len & Bob say it isn't a HR? I don't know anymore, I'm lost. If the ball hits the top of the fence, isn't that a HR? Only if it bounces over the fence and out of the field of play Or if there's one of those neat yellow lines on top of the wall.
  8. Are you seriously arguing that Parker, Ginobili, and Cassell were more important to championships than Duncan and The Dream? That's a joke. That's like saying Jordan didn't win til he got Bill Cartwright. Also, what has Kobe won without Shaq? What do you forsee Wade winning without Shaq? Shaq got to the finals with Penny Hardaway, Nick Anderson, and Dennis Scott...all guys that were on their way out of the league soon as Shaq left Orlando. I didn't say that. I'm simply saying that a very good to even great big man will not be able to carry a team to a champioship without great guard play. A great guard can, however, carry a team to a championship with just adequate/above average big man play. See: Jordan's Bulls, Isaiah Thomas's Pistons, very nearly Drexler's Blazers (though not a great example).
  9. I will repeat: If Paxson doesn't take Rose, he should be dragged out into the street and shot (figuratively, of course). You do not have the capacity to win big without a near superstar playing at one of the guard positions. They can control the game and a big man, no matter how good, can't do that. Shaq didn't win until he had Kobe and Wade. Duncan doesn't win without Parker and Ginobili and Sean Elliott before them. Olajuwon doesn't win without Cassell. You won't be great without great guard play. If Rose isn't the pick, the Bulls will kill their chances for success for the next 5-10 years.
  10. I fail to understand why anyone swings at his splitter. It's a strike about 1 of every 5 times he throws it.
  11. Unless we end up with one of the elite guys possibly being available, I see no reason to go get a guy just to get a guy. The only upgrades to what we have in house at this point would be Harden if he's healthy and Burnett, unless there's somebody else available I haven't heard about. There's no sense in adding a 4-5 guy when we have about 4 internal options to fill those spots that are as good or better than anything out there.
  12. This should help getting a coach a lot. Talk about a dream guy for Dantoni to coach. He has to be kicking himself right now.
  13. The Bulls also need an offensive presence underneath. Noah's good, but I have trouble seeing him be a 20/10 guy. I think Beasley can provide that. It's easier to piece together big man play than it is to get a great floor general.
  14. No reason to part ways with either of them if Rose comes in. He'll send Hinrich packing. You don't ever pass up a potential franchise PG. Just ask Atlanta how Chris Paul and Deron Williams would look on their roster.
  15. If they don't pick Rose, Paxson should immediately be fired and then tarred and feathered.
  16. Only problem wih this is that all the unexpected production they're getting offensively is from the glut of AAAA outfielders they're throwing out there on a daily basis. And Lohse, Wellemeyer, and Looper can't possibly continue to be as effective as they've been. Mulder and Clement are both done (probably for good) and Carp will come back, but who knows how his control will be after TJS.
  17. That is far and away the most insane I have ever seen Wrigley in person. I thought the walls were coming down when Barrett hit the grand slam that night. Absolutely nuts in the bleachers.

  19. You must go to an establishment called "The Brass Rail". You'll thank me later.
  20. Soto in AAA last year: .353/.424/.652 Ludwick in AAA two years ago (his last full minor league season): .266/.342/.506 In Ludwick's defense, I think it's been several years since he's been healthy and he's had quite a few injuries over the years that have prevented him from playing much. On the other hand, he's hitting a home run about every 10 PAs this year. Ridiculous.
  21. Pujols just grounded out and now the Rays are walking the mighty Ryan Ludwick intentionally to get to Glaus. Ugh.
  22. I believe 103 pitches. Sweet. Unfortunate they got rid of our favorite Rule 5 guy.
