  1. Looking at Wells' line up above, are there any other rookies who have performed as well as he has for as long this year? Does he deserve the ROY or is it going to Happ?
  2. I'd be reluctant to say that when Bradford is getting examined by Dr. Andrews.
  3. That Purdue TD may have been even worse defense than the Bears giving up that TD to Green Bay in week 1. Awful.
  4. I'm starting to think that after IU almost beat Michigan and then Wisconsin beat MSU, although that's not nearly as bad.
  5. I'd g go that way as well since Polamalu is out. With Welker out should I go Mark Clayton vs. SD or Lee Evans vs. TB?
  6. Soriano may not make a lot of plays, but at least he doesn't put it over the fence for the other team.
  7. Giants now up 7-1 on Colorado. It's on MLB Network if anybody cares.
  8. We're not catching them, so isn't it better that they take out some of the WC competition? Not that we have much of a chance at that either.
  9. Go look up the mascot for the schools in Polo, IL. Or if you're lazy, see spoiler. Let me know when you stop laughing.
  10. Hopefully they're just doing what the Cubs did last year, using up all their good fortune in the regular season only to tank in the off season.
  11. Apparently they don't have anybody besides Benn who can run more than 15 yards down the field and have a pass throw to them. That was the single most annoying thing watching that game. They never once took a shout down field. The coaching staff is awful based on the lack of adjustments made in game. Also, Gabbert is good. He's huge, fast and man did he make some really accurate throws, both from the pocket and on roll outs.
  12. Sounds like the Latin American Jeter to me!!
  13. So, uh, any particular reason for a team that's not scoring runs to have Sam Fuld in the lineup instead of Jake Fox? Or am I being unreasonable?
  14. Just found out I've got free tickets to the Illinois-Mizzou game tomorrow. Should be an interesting contest. I'm pretty excited to see what happens.
  15. I really think their biggest worry is going to be keeping Carpenter and Wainwright around when their deals are up. I have no idea when that is, but I'm fairly certain Wainwright is FA eligible after 2010 or 2011 and Carp's deal has to be up around the same time. You can have all the offense you want, but if the other team scores 6 runs a game you're screwed. And I don't think they've got anything worth getting excited about in terms of starters anywhere close to the majors. Of course if Duncan stays, all they need is a couple of guys like Daniel Cabrera and Jeff Weaver to show up and they'll have two cheap Cy Young candidates.
  16. Sosa had several years in the teens. I dont ever remember him dropping a ball though. I also never remember him making a good accurate throw. I don't think that's fair, really. I remember a few times Sammy nailed a runner at the plate. He did have a very good arm, and when it was accurate, it was deadly. Sammy wasn't the best outfielder I've ever seen, but he certainly wasn't a liability out there. exactly, he had a pretty good arm. It wasn't always accurate; but it's not like he was Jacque Jones out there, either. He had a good arm until he started hitting 60+ homers and then his arm was crap on top of the fact he had no idea where it was going. He was a very solid outfielder until probably about 98 or 99 when the glove was still good but the throwing wasn't.
  17. Wow, terrible argument for running by HCCF. I ran XC and track in high school and still run quite a bit today. The reason people don't run is because they're a bunch of lazy fat-asses or they prefer to be doing something while they're running. Like shooting a basketball or catching a football. I always loved running, but it certainly isn't something everybody can do well or even enjoy. It's not about whose tougher or crazier or anything. Different strokes for different folks.
  18. Right. OOOHHH. Buuuurrrrrnnn.
  19. They make me extra sad when I'm in town and they have an off day. I was planning on going to the game last night but they unfortunately didn't have a game scheduled. The trip to Big Al's however, did not disappoint.
  20. Perhaps, but its still garbage. Have you ever walked on it? It's pretty incredible stuff. I'm sure there will always be cold weather cities with grass fields, but I'm not surprised that increasingly cold weather cities with open air stadiums are converting to Fieldturf. It feels so much like grass but doesn't get completely ripped up with bad weather like grass tends to do. In a few years I would expect there to be only about 2-3 teams left with grass in the northern half of the country. Yeah, I've walked on it. It's junk compared to grass. Doesn't make me think of the word "incredible" in the least. I've played sports on both and field turf is light years ahead of astro turf. My body felt beat up after soccer games on astroturf when I was 145 lbs and in awesome shape. My body felt less beat up after playing soccer on field turf 30 lbs. heavier and in not nearly the same shape. Not even close.
  21. The NCAA is such a joke. http://deadspin.com/5337468/southeast-missouri-state-feels-the-ncaas-sting
  22. I was actually thinking along the line of Edmonds with less patience. It sounds to me like he can develop that 25-30 HR power and play a real solid CF.
  23. I would take the salty thing to mean they'll be sporting a bit of an attitude. And I'm guessing it won't be pleasant for the other team in Lovie's eyes.
  24. He screwed a chick and paid for her abortion. Let's add the interesting details. He screwed a chick (who ended up marrying one of his basketball assistants) in a restaurant after it was closed while his executive assistant slept in one of the booths and apparently heard at least part of what was going on. Then, she called him several weeks later to let him know she was pregnant and it had to be his so he gave her $3000 to get an abortion after telling her that she would have to get DNA testing done if she wanted him to support the kid if she kept it. Then she accused him of raping her in the restaurant and later when they met about her being pregnant, and at the meeting the assistant she ended up marrying was there and according to her story didn't help when she screamed because Pitino was raping her. I think she's believable, what about you?
