  1. Not happening. He can't throw a baseball from 3rd to first. I'm not sure how they think he's going to play the OF with his shoulder as bad as it still is. Also, as somebody else said, Dero is going to be playing 3rd every day.
  2. Definitely nice that they are going to throw Hamels and Happ against the Cards, especially since the Cards are so terrible against lefties. I just hope Dero's night last night doesn't mean he's going to heat up a bunch and help carry them.
  3. Yep. It was a save situation when he entered the game so if he finishes it he gets the save.
  4. CUBS are 40-9 when they score 4 runs or more.... 7-36 when they don't If that doesn't summarize the season, I don't what does.
  5. Howard goes the other way really well. Look at how they play him in the OF next time he comes up. It just so happens that when he does hit the ball on the ground, he pulls it. It would be dumb for him to try to change what has obviously been very effective for him thus far.
  6. I meant to make almost this exact post earlier. The way the media is covering this is irritating me. I think all the story that is there has been covered, unless they find a note or something at this point. I had the exact same thought. Really? Who cares what his BAC was if he was passed out on a couch. Did that cause him to get killed? Pretty sure it didn't. Also, that may be the first time I've ever read anything by Whitlock and didn't think "Oh my god you gigantic racist piece of crap". It actually made a lot of sense.
  7. Well, Juan Pierre did set a Cubs franchise record in 2006. Most 4-3 putouts ever?
  8. As a aside to the home run derby, when I was leaving the park on Monday night, I saw Charlie Weis and his son walking out of the game right next to me. I was a little surprised to see him out amongst the regular people and not in a luxury box somewhere. The ND fan in me died a little thought because his son was wearing a Cards jersey.
  9. I heard he has the ability to put on quite a show in BP, so it may be a pretty good pick. I've heard a couple guys on the radio down here talking about him as a sleeper to win the thing. I will be there tonight. Seats are in Section 449, but we're taking my wheel chair bound brother in law and I'm going to try to guilt them into giving us something better.
  10. I hope they either go on a tremendous winning streak and run away with the division or completely suck so I can stop paying attention. I expect them to continue giving me false hope by winning a few and then crapping out like they did against the Braves. Then they'll get good enough the last month of the season to get into either the wild card or division race, then rip our hearts out just like they did in '04.
  11. I'm at the Futures game in a rain delay. You'll all be happy to know Castro and Vitters are both wearing high socks. They also just put the game on the jumbotron and I'm under cover in my seat. This is working ut ok for me.
  12. He tripped over his bag in the middle of the night and did a face plant. He also apparently has a huge rug burn on his back from the same incident. Heard that on one of the morning sports radio shows down here. Actually a rather humorous story. seriously??? that is freaking awesome...was he loaded? Don't know. It happened after one of the games in Cincinatti. But I would say it's a distinct possibility. The next morning the first thing he did was call his wife to tell her what happened so she wouldn't get suspicious.

  14. Fred, it took me 2 times seeing it to figure out who Bryan was. I'm thinking it must be Brendan Ryan and your program has morphed it into one word. But thank you tremendously for the PBP.
  15. I would prefer Fukudome, RF Theriot, SS Lee, 1B Ramirez, 3B Johnson, CF Soriano, LF Fontenot, 2B Hill, C Harden, P Then you have bad preferences because Johnson is still in your lineup vs. a RH pitcher.

    Golf

Buy yourself 2-3 lessons from a pro. You'll shoot 85 with a couple of minor corrections. I just took a couple and with a couple of very minor adjustments and a few teaching points, I'm hitting the ball much better and scoring much better.
  17. Glad I'm not the only one who thought that.
  18. Solid AB by Fontenot there. Unfortunate the wind is blowing in from right.
  19. My bad, I was refering to Fielder. I know my share of Brewer fans who are not big fans of Fielder, at least as far as his non baseball personality. Really? I always thought Fielder was a nice guy. I have friends who regularly go to the Sunday games where the players sign autographs for kids at their positions on the field and according to them, Prince is the only guy out there who never engages the kids or takes them to another position to get an extra autograph. He seems to be a pretty angry dude at life in general and especially his dad.
  20. Why did nobody tell me this was on MLBN? Good to see we may not have to salary dump DLee. Let's hope we see more of that staying on the ball and going to left center from Fukudome.
  21. There's a Hi Tops kitty corner from the stadium owned by the same people who own the one outside Wrigley. And make sure you drink some Yuengling for me while you're there.
  22. Why in the hell does anyone carry around 3 ounces of weed? You can't smoke that much in a week if you're an enormous pothead.
  23. I have to throw Gookie Dawkins into the mix as well, though Stubby Clapp certainly is hard to top.
  24. If the offense doesn't start producing soon, I fear we'll see a series much like what the Cards did in Colorado this weekend. While I enjoyed that, I don't think it would be as amusing if it happened to the Cubs....again.
